I don't think curfews keep teens out of trouble. I believe its respect for your parents and family to do as they ask, and not want to disappoint them. What are your opinions on curfews and teenagers getting into trouble?

Good parents set boundaries for their children which can include curfews. That is not to say that parents don't trust their teens, they just want them away from the "possibility" of the wrong thing happening. I had a curfew when I grew up and I was a "good" kid. I gave my kids rules and curfews. Sure you can say that a teen can get into to trouble before curfew time. Yes they can. They can go out at 7pm and break the law just as easily as they can at 2am. But a teen who has been taught what to expect and the "right/wrong" consequences may think twice about certain things. Teens will always test the rules and boundaries parents set. That is part of growing up. We as parents always hope that we have given our children enough information that they will not be influenced by "friends" who are not always doing the right or responsible things.

Thank you very much for your response! The best answer, most definitely. You made a lot of good points, and I can definitely tell you have good parenting skills. Kids often do end up with the wrong kinds of "friends" and that's what usually sends them down the wrong path. Happy mylotting!

Yes,i also think that curfews can keep teenagers out of trouble .Because teenagers are curious to do many things and they cannot know whether it is good or not.And the curfews can make thim make less mistakes.

Thank you for your opinion! I agree that curfews lessen the chance of trouble, but they also make some kids rebellious and get into trouble either way!

I dont think curfews keep teens out of trouble. Look at all the teens out there that don't obey their curfew and go out and find trouble on the streets. Alot of teens killing/shooting at each other and out past 11pm at night. Sometimes I wonder why there is a curfew when obviously it's hard to keep track of all kids and make sure they obey by the laws. They need to come up with another strategy to keep the streets safe!

Thank you Blondie! You made some great points above! A lot of kids don't abide by their curfews and get in trouble anyways just to be rebellious! And I definitely agree with you on them needing to come up with better and more ways to keep the street safe.
