It all depends on what you want to use your computer for. The best advice I can give is to go for the best specifications that you can afford. I'm using windows vista premium and I'm pretty happy with this operating system. Windows seven will be out shortly but I won't be upgrading to that anytime soon. Ideally you want to buy a laptop that has a dual core processor, that's two processors within the same cpu housing unit. You want to make sure it has as much ram or memory as possible, ideally 2 to 4 GB. I personally don't favour laptops much as they are limited in terms of upgrading them. I do love desktops however as you can go inside them, take things out, put things in, upgrade them and there's just so much you can do with a desktop. I personally recommend that you go for a desktop. Good luck. Andrew
