Yes, I do. The only thing I do not unplug in our house is the refrigerator. All the time, when I go out of the house heading for work, I make sure that everything is unplug. Well, not exactly unplug, I actually have this extension outlets with switches where I plug the appliances like tv, computer etc. So when I go out, I just unplug the extension or turn of the switches. By doing this, I unplug all the appliances. It is true that some appliances still utilize power when they are plugged even when off. Most especially if you see the red dot, sort of a standby button. They actually consume power, so even if its little they could add up into something big in the long run.

You are absolutely right in whatever you have said and your efforts are really commendable. Off course the refrigerator has to be kept running for that is meant to be such. :-) . If we all become so sincere we can really be very much contributing to save our earth. Take care .

I don't take it out of the socket, but I do turn off the extension. I read somewhere that turning it off could really make a lot of difference, not only can it lower your electric bill, but It can also lower your carbon footprint. I make it also a point, when I turn off our TV, i don't leave it at standby, that also goes for the wii, and other stuff. I also don't leave charges on the socket.. that would also consume electricity even if there is no phone plugged in.

I don't unplug the power cable usually, because I hardly ever shut the computer down. I use it at odd hours of day or night and it takes forever to boot up, so it's easier for me to keep it running. I think we have to make choices based on our lifestyles. For instance, I have a power strip to the TV and cable box which I always turn off because there are days and days when I don't watch it. It wastes a lot of energy just sitting there.

I agree that somehow there are some unavoidable circumstances that we have to budge and do even those things which we know are not right.

To be honest, not only don't I unplug the computer, I don't ever turn it off. I guess I just got into the habit of not doing that. I should probably try turning it off when not in use for a month and see how much electricity I save in that month- see if my electricity bill goes down. I should be conserving every penny, but too often I am careless.

Thats really an extra expense which we incur if we keep the PC plugged . You are right that you should check the difference between your electricity consumption in both ways. It will take only a minute of yours to save a lot for yourself. Thanks for sharing , Have a Nice Time .

I don't really turn my PC off. The last time I did it was months ago. I've read somewhere that turning the PC on and off all the time will consume more power then just leaving it on.

Hello champrocker. I have never unplugged my power cable when turning off my pc, but now I have been using an extension cord which has a function of Power On and Off. I never pressed Power Off, but ever since I got my new laptop, I have used this button of Turning off the power by pressing the button.

I will turn of my UPS which has on and off options. So, I think my PC power is off and I will switch of my TV spike and remove the plug from the power generating socket. So, no chance that my TV will consume power but my PC's UPS might consume the power to charge the battery to give me back up when power is gone.. So, I cannot do anything there.. :(

I don't unplug any cables when it comes to turning off my pc. However, I do make sure that all the switches are off. A computer may retain a little power after it has been switched off but this will quickly disappear. Andrew

I will always unplug the PC after turn off it. It is a good habit. It is not only save the power but also keep rest to the PC. We should keep the habit of turning off the things when we don't use it.

Ideally, we should unplug every cord of any appliance after using it since beside being rob of electric power is it's a potential hazard at home

since I use my computer all day every day, I dont often shut it down completely, just put it on standby, low power mode. However when I do shut it down, when I dont figure on using it the next day, I turn off the power strip, which is essentially the same as un plugging it. It is not one of those lit power strips, as that is a power draw for no reason, cant see it under the desk anyway. I have a power strip on my whole entertainment center too. When I finish watching tv at night I turn that off. All those devices that use remotes are drawing power while they sit there waiting for the remote to signal them.

yup almost all electronic devices must be unplug after use to reduce energy consumption, i always do that after using my computer i unplug the power cable of my avr. its also a pre-cautionary measure just incase theres an electric surge so it would not damage the electronic circuits.
