I've heard about this many times before. People have change due to music. Religious music has the biggest impact on people that I have meet. They claim that music renewed their spiritual beliefs. Other musics such as the ones that touches our hearts or so called love songs lift one's heart to love more.
Do music really has the power to change one's life?

i love heavy metal and it changed my life for the better. i cannot go a day without listening to it. it does not matter what is going on in my life or how bad it is, so long as i have my electronic IV that i call zeepod (my ipod). all my experiences are enhanced by the music that i listen to. it helps me to get to where i need to be. it does not matter whether i am happy or sad, there is metal to suit my every mood. it is as vital to me as breathing, it is one of the cornerstones of my very existence, i feel that without it, i would certainly perish. it is also how i met my best friends in the world, all through our shared love for heavy metal. going to a gig or concert or festival for me, is how i would imagine other people's religious experiences to be, when they attend church or whatever. regardless of what is going on in my life, so long as i have music, it all does not seem so bad. heavy metal is the reason that i am alive.

I do think music has the ability to change people and lives. I have heard about spiritual music doing it to people but for me it is a nice song with a lot of meaning that gets me going. I love to listen to all types of music and often pick whatever my mood reflects. I enjoy sad country songs when I am in a down mood. I like uplifting songs when I am sad to change the mood though.

Music has made me closer to people. It has made me outgoing and adventurous. It makes me dance and it makes me sing. My husbands band has become my family. I have music in my house almost every night. If it is not live, it is recordings and we are always laughing and having a good time. I like how music can change my moods. I can go from very sad to very happy with just a song. One that makes me sing and dance is one that makes me smile.

Hi everyone.
Music has the great power. Actually music gives a path to our mind to go ahead. That is why when people listen to spiritual music, they feel nearer to the God. It is not that they are physically moving towards to the God but their mind goes towards the the God. And this gives them ultimate calmness. Similarly when a person is upset and listen to music. It gives his calmness.

In fact music has the power to influence our mind. That when someone listen to the romantic songs it reminds him of his girlfriend or loved ones.

Your question is really interesting. And for this reason i want to share with you an experience I had in my High School. There I had such a good and skilled music teacher and he explained us all those things regarding how music can chaqnge life. First he talked to us about music terapy, that is really important for people with mental disorder, but also for child, adult and so on. It can change of course your life because if, for example, you are happy 'cause you listened a song it will also make your day different and more friendly.
Second there is musician that lives of music, and their life is really changed because of music. Just imagine Beethoven that he couldn0t listen anymore, but he continued to play because he had the music in the heart. And he want to give us his feeling and his teaching about, for example, the destiny.
Music also change a bit my life^^

Music has the power to soothe one's soul. It has this power that can make a person relax, no matter what genre of music you listen to. For me, it's classical, some new wave, country, and alternative. Music can also help stimulate the mind for you to think better....it's worked on me, and, i think, science has proven that too.

I am not really sure about this. I honestly do not believe that music can change a persons life. It is just a song with lyrics. But on the other hand there are some songs out there that have very good lyrics that are very touching but not so much that they would change my life.

I do think music has the power to change our lives. Not just music it self. But the words that are often said along with the music. For some reason people tend to sit down and listen to music before they would their own friend.

If i weren't foe music I wouldn't be still alive. Back in school I was bullied but I had my music to fall back on. Becvause I was in the chorus and the orchestra I had friends and a great outlet. After A while I ignored the bullies and later I was in different classes and I never saw them again. As for religion , i ouldn't be a Jew if it weren't for music. I wasn't born Jewish I choose it partly because of the beautiful music I heard in Fiddler On The Roof and Yentl. true music isn't the only reason but it was a huige part of it.

I totally agree with the statement that music can change our lives . The thing is that how we perceive the effects of Music . Spiritual Music , Instrumental Music , Nature Music , all have the capacity to effect the conscience and can really play a significant role in molding the power of thoughts with deep insights into our conscience.

I believe in this too. Religious music or songs can really change a person's life. The lyrics most of the time will touch a person's heart and make them open their hearts to certain religion. This is very true.

I think can't change your life but it can only ease to your boredom and feel relax. Music can also relax your mind if you have difficulties in life. Music can make you feel better.

yes, i think music can change people. When i hear some soft music like the ones composed by the bandari band, i can picture all kinds of natural scenes in my mind and I will suddenly feel tranquil in my mind. And I also heard a psychological teacher said that it is good for preganant women to listen to some classical music, then after the babies are born and grows up. When they are nervous or worried, the music they once had heard when they were still in their mother's womb will immediately calm them down. And also some other scientific researchs have proved that some classic music composed by musicians like Mozart can change people's brain wave so as to improve people's intelligent and memory ability. So it is very good to listen to music especially soft and classical ones.

The extent of belief varies man to man, country to country, race to race and religion to religion. Music makes some changes in mood. If the change can be done in a permanent mode, then you can say that music can change not life, but life style. Think about your national anthem? doesnt it change your mood instantly? generally it makes.
in india, music has a very close relation with religious practices. they have religion based songs also. in Islam, there are sufi musics. in africa, once you see the movies that jungle people do their rituals with drums.
music plays a role in all other spiritual practices also.
in this world, everywhere and in every sectors music exists. Music, i define (dont laugh) as a combination of rhythm and sounds. the bird who nests near a river, loves the rhythm of waterflow. if the water stops flowing through that river, that bird will migrate to another river shore. Insects has a music of their wings. that is the proof of their existence to their fellowmates. even air has a rhythm of flowing.
whether music realy changes life or not, may be very difficult to explain. but think of a day without any rhythmic sounds arround you? can you survive in that environment?
