Dear MyLotters,
No, currently I do not employed a maid to clean my house.
I am a full time housewife, taking care my son and doing some housechores by myself.
Actually, I m staying with my in-laws now and not much housechores for me to do when my mother-in-law is at home. Only when she is not around, then I need to mop and cook for my family.
Once my mother-in-law at home,I no need to do cooking and I just have to clean my own bathroom and my own bedroom and wash my own clothes(include my husband and my son's clothes).
Back at my hometown, my mother employed a part-time maid to clean the house and do laundry. So my mother has more time to relax and she just need to do cooking for family.
Next year, I will move to my new house, that is the time where I have to do my own housechores. Of course, my husband will help me out during weekend. He is my good helper.I do not plan to employ a maid to help me out as I am scared the maid will give me more problems and it is not cheap to get an overseas maid too.
What do you think of employing maid at home?
You prefer full time(stay at home maid) or part time maid(not staying at home maid)?

Hello Shia. How are you ? Yes, I have to employ a maid for cleaning the house. With my full-time job taking so many hours each day, I have very little time to do cleaning the rooms and the kitchen in the house. So, I have to call maid service once or twice a week. The maids are very efficient. I am very happy with their services. The rooms look so fresh and new every corner when the finish the cleaning job.

Hi greenline,
I can understand some work people might not have time to do housechores once off from work. You have feel tired for wholeday and once reaching home, you need a full rest and no mood to clean up your house again.
Getting a part-time is quite good, at least your house is always in clean condition when you back home.

When I was at home with my children, many years ago, then I did have a full time helper. We do not call them maids but helpers or housekeepers. This was very necessary as I did not have a washing machine and clothes were being changed several times daily. Also the cost was not a lot and in a country of high unemployment it is necessary to employ someone. You have to get the right person though. I had my helper for 27 years and she was wonderful with my children and very clean and tidy. My children still visit her when they come home.
Now that I am living somewhere different and I have all mod cons, I employ someone for one day a week only. she does not cook but spends her time giving my house a deep clean and sh sees to my clothes. My life would be more difficult and harder without her. She is a blessing in my life.

Hi Cynthiann,
You are having a good life all the while. Always have a helper at your side to help you clean your house.
At my hometown, we do have helper to clean our house daily, help to mop the floor, wash the clothes and do ironing, plus washing toilets and clean the windows. It helps to ease my mum's workloads.
But back at my hubby's hometown, I do not employ maid and it is not cheap to get a foreign maid here.somemore I don't want to create more problem as foreign maid sometimes will give a lot of problem to the landlord. I prefer to do my own housework ,with little help from my husband during weekend.

I don't employ maid to clean my whole house. Actually, I employ myself to do it. =) For me, house is a 'private' large thing which (for me) is preferably be known only by the owner of it. Apart of payment things, it is very important for me to keep the house as private as it could be. I don't like when other people know where I keep this, keep that and so on. Especially my bedroom! I won't even let my cousin step into it. =) That's the main reason why I don't hire a maid. And that also helps me realize to keep the house always in clean state.

Hi Charlies,
Yes...house is more like a private apartment for us to stay and without a maid at home, at least, we no need to lock our drawer everyday(place where we keep our valuable things at home). Like me, I never lock my drawer when I am at home. Only when I go out, then I will lock my bedroom door.
I believe if I have maid at home, I will feel uncomfortable as I have to keep my eyes on her, whether she will steal my things or not.

hi shia,
i live alone in my house. and i dont stay there during daytime because i work in an office and am usually out 9 to 12 hours a day. i am in the house only during weekends (that is if no family outing). so there is not much dirt there. and i always do the house chores when i arrive home at night, like sweeping, and dusting. and i wash used clothes every night or early in the morning. i cook my food only during weekends. i change the bedsheets twice a week and send the same to the laundry during weekends. so there is no need for a maid unless there is a big occasion.
cheers
ann

Hi Ann,
Staying alone is good,at least your house will be cleaner and not in mess.
For me, I have a small little kid andI have to make sure the floor is clean all the time as we always playing on the floor.Every corner of the room is clean and no insect on the floor.I am using Dettol to mop the floor and wash my toilet.
As for laundry, I wash our clothes everynight. I can't stand to keep the clothes overnight for a few days, can't stand the bad smell and it was alot if I were to wash it 2-3 times per week,So I prefer to wash it everynight,Since I have a washing machine to wash for me,it helps to lighten up my burden.

Dear Shia,
Everything has its pros and cons. However if you have a good maid,
then everything is great :)
Every morning, I can hear my behind neighbours scolded her foreign maid.
It seems her new maid is a bit slow in learning what she teach. I think
she is more stress out with this new maid.
There are many cases that we heard from friends on all the problems that
they encountered with foreign maids. My first maid who works for 2 years
when my baby was less than 1 year old. She is a great maid except too
religious, therefore not versatile. The second one is too young, think
of boyfriend always. Having realtionship which I have to asked her to
leave according to the rules and regulations set by the maid agency.
Since then, I do not employ any maid. My advise will be if you can manage
it yourself, then do not need one. But if you really stress out, then it
is good to look for some help...
Cheers and take care :)

Hi Iriene,
I am totally agreed with you.
Having a maid at home can lead to more problems actually especially if we are nt geting a good maid.
It need time to train the foreign maid and still not sure whether she can makes her job well or not.Have to monitor her all the time and I prefer to just get it done by myself.
There is a lot of news whereby the foreign maid run away from home,do stealing, bring a guy back home and etc...all these problems can happen anytime and to play safe,do your housechores by yourself if you really can make it.At least, you will have a peaceful life all the time.

Hi Craicha,
it is good to be trained by your mother on how to do housechores.
When you have your own family, that will be your duty to takecare of your own family.Doing housechores and taking care of your kids are the main work to be done at home.
Just wondering how old is your kids now and how many kids do you have?
For me, I prefer not to employ maid,at least it create no problem for me. I just need to spent more energy to clean up my house, but at least I can always stay happily.

We used to have a maid back when we were kids. Now that we're already grown-ups, we do our own household chores like laundrying, washing the dishes, cooking, sweeping the floor, cleaning the furnitures and so on. Hiring a maid means you have to pay for her services every month, and you even have to cover her medical insurance expenses.

Hi Shia,
I don’t have a maid at home still. It is difficult to get a good maid and if you get an unorganized one then it will double your work, means, to follow the one and give instructions etc. I tried to post a full time maid but could not find out a suitable one. I have the doubts too, whether she is able to do well with my kids. Infact, that is the reason I gave up the idea about a maid and secondly I am always listening the problems from my friend about her maid. Actually it is difficult job to make somebody to do the work. It is easy to do work ourselves and there won’t be any tension too. It is not at all cheap to post a maid.

I would love someone to come and clean my house as i have six children as well as five bedrooms thats without the downstairs that i have to do.I would also like a gardener.I can not afford to pay someone to come and clean my house so i have to do it all myself, thats why i am always trying to earn money on here.

Hi JugsJugs,
You can always treat doing housechores as part of an exercise for you.
You have a big family, have six children all together.and I believe your house is big too since you have five bedrooms.
It is tiring to clean such a big house.
I am so lucky that my husband is getting single storey house for our own stay, probably will move in to our new house next year.
I just hate to do cleaning, but I also can't stand my house to get dirty.
Like now, I am mopping my bedroom everyday and wash the toilet once a week.

Our last maid was dismissed 10 years ago. Now we are without maid. We give her freedom. She was allowed to go out to pasar malam on her own and brought along the house keys. One day she befriended a boy and went out in the middle of the night.
She was caught coming back at about 3:00 am. We consulted the agent and agreed to sent her home if not if she will to get pregnant, then it will be a problem. From then no more maid.

well, I'm a single parent with one son. But I do almost everything by myself. I don't have a maid. I do all the work by myself. Except one thing. Since I have to work also, so I have to ask my parents to take care of my son while I'm working. And they're happy, coz they lived alone. I prefer not to hire maids, since I think I can handle all the house work by myself, and I don't want my son to be taking care off by somebody else.

hi.
Yes we employ a maid at home because it is really impossible for the family to do the household chores. There is no one to take care and accompany my niece at school because her both parents are working overseas. My other sister has a job, my mother has a small business and my father is already old. He cannot even walk by himself and mama used to assist him on his needs. As for me, I will be working soon.
We have to employ one to take good care of the household chores. And it is really a great help. One difficult thing that we encountered when it comes to house helper is to find someone whom you can trust and one that really does the job seriously, not only when the boss is around. So far the one we have at home is the fifth.
Good day.

Yes, I have a maid who helps me to clean my house. I am not good at cleaning and now my husband lives in a different country. He is good at cleaning and he used to do most of the cleaning work at home. Maids are very cheap in my place. I also have a maid who does laundry for me. She does it for two dollars as month. Pretty cheap price. Right? She does the laundry well.

I can't see wasting money on a maid when I can easily handle cleaning, cooking, laundry etc... I rather have the money in my pocket then giving it to someone to clean my house.

Hi Shia,
I have a stay-in house helper and I consider myself lucky for my maid is really efficient. She does everything at home while I'm at work, she even tutors my kids who are in grade school(she's a high school graduate) when I'm out of town or can't be home early. I consider her a part of my family and I believe she is happy working for me. On weekends I'm the one in charge of the kitchen as I love to cook for my kids, so it is her(my maid) time to relax and watch TV, and go on a day off if she wishes to.

Hi shia,
I do the housechores myself except the ironing of clothes. I opted hiring somebody to come every two weeks to iron our clothes when I start conceiving. I can't stand from 2 to 4 hours of ironing anymore as my foot cramps at bedtime. But for cooking, cleaning the house and laundry I do it myself. My husband would do the mopping during weekends. Now, that I'm near to giving birth I'm planning of hiring a stay at home maid to take care of the baby when out for work and can do some housework so I can have time with my baby when I'm home. Good Day!

Ever since we were young, we have a stay-in maid. One who does all the chores while my mother takes care of us (the children). Sometimes, it is the other way around, the helper watching the kids, my mother does the chores. We as kids, also help around the house. It is an advantage to hav stay-in maids since you still have time to relax and during nighttime, for emergencies, you can call the maid anytime. Anyways, we alwys choose a trusted and honest maid to make sure our household is safe.
