Why are people so impatient today?

I find that people are very impatient today and are always in a hurry. It wasn't always that way and we need to realize that things done in a hurry are rarely done right. Anyone who pays attention will see that those who live the longest and stay healthy are usually very relaxed. There is a natural rhythm to to the universe and it appears to be perfect. Some people just seem to be able to get in tune with it and I feel that therein lies a lesson for many people today. What are your thoughts?

i do agree with you that so many people are very impatient these days. and i am one of them. I mean, for me being impatient is really not a big deal at all. ive wanted to do things rush and my reason is, our economic crisis today. i mean, if you'll be staying in a country which is not progressive at all and there are taxes that needs to be paid, when can we actually rush things to earn?

Hi babyish, Thanks for your thoughts on this but I see it happening more and more all the time. I don't think that this is the way we are meant to live, nor do I see it continuing at such a pace. I have no idea of how change will come about but I feel certain that things must change. Blessings.

I think that impatience is a result of the new technology of these times. All these new ideas that we came up with, such as government and needing a job to live makes us rush a lot. We have to do a lot more things, because there is more to do in the world, there is transportation so you can even get to places faster... Everything has to be faster, and for what? To go even faster?
Sometimes I think that humanity would be better off as a primitive race, with less complicated concerns... Today, we have to worry about the environment and all those messups made by the thing called Human Intelligence. Back then, we only needed to worry about getting the next meal, surviving...
All too complicated today, which is why we have so much to do, which is why we need to rush. I mean, what's the point of going to work if it takes up most of your day, thus taking up most of your life? You work that long just to pay for all these things and work more. No time to do other stuff, have to spend all day at work, need to rush there and get home... and go back and come back home...

Hi merlinsorca, Thank you for sharing your thoughts. There is nothing wrong with the new technology, but our thinking has not progressed with it. We have created a society that can't continue at this pace. I have no idea of what the future will bring, but there has to be change as man was not meant to live this way. Blessings.

yes, it is true Pose. We are living in a fast world. no wonder people are impatient. We have bigger competitions everywhere in life.
In Chennai, sometimes it takes about 4 to 5 hours to travel and meet a person who is living in the other extreme part of our city. One day will be gone in just meeting one person. When you are in business, it counts a lot. We will become impatient when we find the work delayed often.

Pose-
I have wondered that very question for years now. It seems like people want to push through grocery marts, gas lines, postal lines, and so forth. No one wants to stop and have a conversation. Just a few days ago we stopped by the store to pick up a new car seat for our son, and managed to find a few early Yule gifts for the children. The gentleman checking us out had a lovely conversation along this same line. He said it is disappointing how many people turn very different around the season when holiday shopping is about them. He said in a few months people would become very rude at his store as he saw it every year. The people behind us were getting anxious at us "talking too much" so we wrapped it up, but he thanked us for the lovely conversation. I was happy to have it too!

Hi Anora, Thank you for commenting and you are absolutely right. Unless things start to change soon our society will not survive and many can't see it because they haven't seen anything different. There are very few happy people in the world today because they just have no time to be happy. It's sad to see people living this way. Blessings.

If people are impatient nowadays and are always in hurry that is because based on my observation people now knows the value of time. And are eager to use their time to have a good healthy lifestyle and to live life to the fullest. And some think that to stay longer and healty is not gurranty that you will stay forever in this so called earth so thats why people are impatient to have a happy and fulfilling life by pushing too much to what they want to happen to their lives.

This is true. I admit even I could be impatient at times, and over the years, I have toned down quite a lot. I just want to slow down things more and not always rush and be impatient. I think it has got something to do with the rushes of life; especially in my country, as early as 7 AM, people are already rushing to go to work and get things done and all that.
I think that's the kind of mentality people have now, but if we could just take a step back and slow down a little, it will be more better. I am trying my best to appreciate the finer things in life.

Hi zed, Thank you for your response. Technology is developing so fast today that we have fallen behind in ways to manage. As I said, there is a natural rhythm to the universe and we have to learn to follow it, otherwise we become impatient and things are rarely done right. Blessings.

People become impatient with others when they don't care about them. They only want what they want and other people just don't matter. So when other people get in the way they are impatient. Impatience comers from lack of caring and a continous need to satisfy ourselves. People who care are always patient. You can't care of you don't look and listen to others. Its worth a thought.

Hi bluepatch, Thank You for that response and I certainly agree that it's worth a thought. Our society appears to have reached a new low when it comes to caring about others and such a society cannot survive for very long. It isn't what's going to happen in 2012 that people have to worry about, but what is happening to humans as a species. Young people have been told for years to look out for number one and now we are seeing the results of it. We are here to help each other, to reach out the hand of friendship, to be our brother's keeper. I feel strongly that the society that we have created is in for a rude awaking. Blessings.

People are getting impatient maybe because of their status in life. Sometimes we feel uneasy if there are financial problems, considering the recession we'd gone through. So we became impatient. If we could get things the soonest to go to another, the better. If we could get the results to have a problem resolved, the earliest the more we moved faster to get ahead of time. Though sometimes no matter how we tried to have everything done the soonest, the more time we spent.

People are taught to rush. It is engrained in us from a very young age. It is unfortunate and I love to watch people who take things slow. I live in a great state where people tend to live a pretty relaxed lifestyle and take what comes. I have noticed over the past couple years though that the same is happening here. The universe has a great rhythm to follow and I wish more could understand it. You are right, relaxed people tend to have long healthy lives unless there is an unfortunate accident. They do not usually go by heart attack, stroke or cancer. I think you are right as well, to share this lesson. Hopefully you will get a good amount of people to read this and remind them to take it easy. My philosophy has always been, take it easy and if you can take it easy, take it twice :)

Hi amijor, Thank you for your comment and sorry but I haven't read the book. Technology is moving so fast that we have not been able to keep up with it. We rush about and become impatient with everybody and everything because we haven't discovered how to work with it yet. We must learn patience before the new technology destroys us. Blessings.

That book tells us how "adults" are so concerned about matters of consequence. There was a chapter when the little prince told the pilot about a man he once met who sold pills that promises the buyer that once the pill is taken he will never be thirsty for seven days and, as computed by experts, would save you 53 min. a week. The little prince thought out loud and said "As for me, if I had fifty-three minutes to spend as i liked I should walk at my leisure toward a spring of fresh water".

Yes, it is reall a common phenomena that more and more are becoming impatient to others.
When people have no patience to anything, they may begin to hurt others and don't care anyone. However, from where I stand, it is not a bad phenomena exactly. Perhaps people have realize of the value of time and it is a waste of time if they always spend much time waiting up patiently. Another factor that lead people impatient may be the intense competition full of the society.
Of course, people have to learn to be patient if they want to reduce stress and enjoy a comfortable life.

For some reason, I think the mind-set stems from technology, In one word it can be summed up as "Fast, Now, Here yesterday", etc. this mind-set is simply unrealistic and obviously causes a slew of challenges.

Oh I agree there are so many impatient people in the world today. I think people should slow down alittle be alittle more kind and realize the sun will come up tommorrow. A good way to reduce stress is to learn pateince.

hello pose
the reason for people are so impatient because most people have tight schedules when it comes to their daily job or work in school. some really want to get what they need in order to have more time to do other things. you see time is a luxury that no one else has. even people in mylot, those who want to earn big are in hurry to achieve their targets post and responses to a person to person in this site. they don't pay attention to all things but that's some people can be rude when they're impatient.

Hi LetranKnight, Thank you for your comment. Time is very important to everyone, but it's necessary to do things in the right manner. Impatience does not help anyone, it's good to be busy but not in a hurry. Things that are done in a hurry are rarely done well. Blessings.

People are rushing here and there lately as they know how precious time could be. Just make an example of Japan. The people there is always walking very fast and always carries a book around to read in the train or bus. They seems pretty hurry to their working place daily but it seems that they are quite healthy with their way of life. Their life looks pretty fast while my country is moving slowly unlike Japan.

Hi mikeowl, Thank you for commenting and while it's okay to be busy, it's impatience that causes problems. We have to remember too that life is about more than work, especially when we have families. Time is very precious that's why we must enjoy everything that we do and that includes our work. Blessings.

SIMPLY BECAUSE WE LIVE IN A MICROWAVE SOCIETY! We want eveything when we want it. We used to have to log on to the computer to get our emails, now our emails come to our phones. We used to cook dinner, now we just pull up to the drive thru for it. We as a peeople just dont want to wait for anything anymore...

Hi saisakth, It's fine to be busy, but impatience usually upsets us and sometimes the work may have to be done over. We can be pleasant while being busy, get our work done and feel better. I know it's not always that easy but we can try. Thanks for your comment. Blessings.
