How Long Can You Leave Your Funds?

Yep, I'd like to know; how long can one leave funds in their paypal account. Like is there any time limit, or is it just like a bank account whereby you can leave it just like that? I have some small amounts I'd prefer not to touch. I couldn't find the answer in paypal's site. Any answers to shed light on this is truly appreciated.

Hi Zed, Thanks for asking this question as this has been bugging me for days too. I have accumulated my online earnings at Paypal and I intend to leave it there while I'm still contemplating on what to spend it with. I want to set it aside for some Christmas shopping (not much but will help to buy some presents). I'll closely watch this discussion as I know the answers here will be valuable not only to you and me but also to those who have the same concern. Good question, I hope you (and I) get good answers.

You are most welcome, doryvien. I agree with you; let's wait for the answers. I'm really curious. I'm googling like crazy before I started this discussion and couldn't find the answer, ha... But learn2earn has said it's possible to leave it there. So let's wait and see other answers. I'm thinking as long as it's possible we can do that, like learn2earn has said.

Thanks so much for giving me this definite answer; I feel so much better now. Means I can just leave the money there without worrying so much. Sometimes, I'd like to purchase stuff online, so leaving it there seems like a great idea for the time being before I start doing any purchase, if any.. Ah..so the help button is useful. Thanks for telling me, I'll keep a tab on that. Thanks again, kalav, you've been a great help..

I just requested a check from paypal, I need to pay the vet something and this is the only spare $$ I have - I'm getting the kittens fixed (well, they are more teenagers now) so they can then move on to the barn and be happy away from humans.

There is no fixed time limit on retaining your money in paypal. but its your duty to keep track of what heppens in your account and take corrective steps. money in paypal do not earn you any interest. if the same is in your bank, it earns you some interest, depending on which country you are. in my country i earn about 3% per annum. also it is wiser to withdraw a bigger amount to your bank account to save on service fee.

I believe in withdrawing a bigger amount as well. I try to avoid the $1 fee, wherever I can; know what you mean there. It's great to know that we can live our funds there for awhile before we decide on what to do with it. Thanks for your great answer..

Hi Zed, I left mine sat there all this time as every time I tried to transfer it there were yet more stupid proceedures to follow which involved giving the amount of two small amounts they had put into the bank on a month the bank statement didn't arrive. I decided once and for all to transfer it this week when another payment hit only to find I had to redo all security things as someone had tried to access my paypal account, so I'd say move it as quick as you can.

Paypal alerted me that someone had tried to access the account so their security may be fine, I would just rather have it in my bank now than sitting in there. It was only this month they tried as well, but a whole rigmarole changing everything,

looks like you got your answer about how long you can leave it in there lol. you can also link your bank account to your paypal and transferr it to your real account there is a small fee for this sometimes. however transferring from your bank to paypal is free. it also makes it easier to make purchases cause you only need to know how much your bank account balance is cause paypal will do the transfer automatically.

Transferring from my bank to paypal is free? I didn't know this before; thank you for telling me; this sure means a lot, really. I've never done that before; only using money earned online to make purchases. I'll take note of this in future, thanks again. This sure means a lot to me.

They have a certain account at paypal that does pay you interest on the money you have there! I've been with them for 4 yrs, and I keep a certain amount of money in there , and it has earned interest! It works just like a bank! More and more places are starting to use paypal also, so that opens up a large avenue of business for them! There is always going to be hackers around no matter where you bank, you just have to take precautions!

I didn't know that. Thanks for telling me. So there's a way to earn interest; hmmmm, not bad. That's something good to know. You are right; everywhere there are hackers and the only way is to take precautions. Thanks for helping me out with your answer, now I do know.

Hi zed, I would think that paypal account is like a current account in a bank which earns no interest. It is more like a mediatory beyween the payers and the payee. I am sure that very few people hoard money in paypal account. In my case I just wait for the minimum amount to be accumalated ,where I dont need to pay any charges that is 140 dollars and then get it transferred to my bank account....all the best and happy new year to you

Hi Zed, with the depreciation of US Dollars, I prefer to keep the money in Paypal until the exchange rate is slightly better. There is no time limit in keeping the money in paypal. However, you have to bear in mind that security is a problem. I try to keep the paypal password different from all the other passwords, and I use the onscreen keyboard to type the keywords. The problem is that sometimes I can't even remember my own password!

Hiya Scheng, I get what you mean there. I think I might wanna change to a thicker password too, but lest I forget it, and I can't write lest the scribbling gets lost. Hmmmm, I think I might cash out real soon. Just leaving it on for a while longer before I get it sorted. But your idea sounds fine. Last I checked, USD rate was 1.39 to a 1 SGD. Don't know whether it's still the same. It used to be more.. but well, what to do..

I have been wanting to know this for a while so thanks for asking. I only have a few dollars in my Paypal right now because I spend it on Ebay. I am afraid to just let my money sleep in there so I try to make use of it and buy stuff. I am afraid to give out my debit card information so I just save my money in there or use them on online shopping.

Online shopping sounds cool; I thought of using the amount to transfer and save in my bank account or to just let it be for future online transactions should I have any. You are right; it's quite worrying to let the money stay there for too long, now that I've known the answer to my discussion here. You are definitely welcome; I'm happy that others wanting to know have their query answered, including myself.

I don't think there's a time limit for saving funds on paypal. Its like a safe bank account where you can keep your money until the day you want to withdraw it. I have tried it when i was new 3 years ago. I have save my online money there until it accumulates $100. Its really good to know that it was fine. So don't worry, you can leave or save your online earnings until your ready to withdraw it.

AS far as I understand Paypal's ideas you can leave the money in your account. However I say set up a savings account and collect the interest if you have no need for the money that is in your paypal account. I will send you a message about a online account that I am aware of that has some great rates. That is what I do with my money if I feel the need to save it. I will be sending the pm here in a little bit and I hope that I can help you as well as you helping me for signing up for the program. Take care and happy mylotting to you.

Hi zed! I don't think there is a time limit on how long you can leave it in there. If I want it, I just have it sent to my bank account. I don't guess there is any time that I specify for leaving it. I do leave a little in there all the time though.
