Which is the best antivirus software available today? I have installed a free version of Norton Internet Security and my computer is infected with 3 viruses. But the software cannot remove them. What should I do? Should I buy a new antivirus product? Where can I get an original one at a very low price?

As others have said every antivirus has its own special features or advantages. But I think Kaspersky Internet Security is best and Avira Antivir is next. I'm currently using avira because it has one year free license and so far, it can remove viruses from my computer.

As far as I am concerned, Kaspersky is still the best (correct me here if I'm wrong). Too bad kaspersky does not have a freeware. though they offer online scanning, but that scanning would just detect the infections and won't remove the viruses found. I would recommend you to have a couple of antivirus softwares because each software can detect some viruses tat others can't. Just be careful of rogue ones though because you might infect your system more instead of cleaning it. To be safe, you may just go to places/ forums which offers free assistance like bleeping computer or tech support forum and there are a lot of volunteers there who can help you..yes, for free!!! they are professionally trained and they will surely know what to do with your machine. just do the tests they would ask from you and post the result so they'd know how badly infected you are. Honestly, though you think you only have 3 viruses at the moment, chances are there are other infections that your antivirus failed to detect. it would be best to have it cleaned by the professional. trust me on this one because i have had my desktop and my laptop cleaned by them and so far, i haven't had any other problems after them fixed by those people for free. i was also taught on how to take care of my computers and what not and what to install. good luck!

You would be better off to switching to McAffee anti-virus software. I used to have the Norton anti-virus software and discovered like you that it didn't do a good thorough job of protecting me from viruses. So I switched to McAffe anti-virus software. You can find it online at OfficeDepot.com Walmart.com or you can surf the internet using the keywords McAffee anti-virus software.

every anti-virus has its own unique feature and we can't tell which one are really the best. one of the disadvantages of getting free version are not being able to remove the virus completely why? because if they can then no need to buy the licensed version right?. it is highly recommended to get the licensed version of anti-virus so that you are sure that you are protected form any virus, and besides you can easily ask for help and new upgrades. im currently using avast pro 4.8 and it is licensed. i got lots of serial keys to be used on our workstation, i also have a licensed version of AVG. its up to you which one you prefer. you can even find in torrent sites if you'd like.but beware of rootkits and trojans binded with it.
have a nice day!

I have used McAfee Antivirus and Norton Antivirus, both which I had to pay for. They worked ok, but I feel like I still got viruses on my computer, especially with McAfee. Now I am using avast, which is free to download from the internet, and I feel like is has been working very well. It updates every day from the internet, and tells me immediately when it detects spyware or viruses, and I can deal with them as they are detected. No scanning or updating involved. Very user-friendly. You can download avast here: www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

well, it all depends on the user. if you are prone to visiting sites which have a lot of viruses, or if you have data in your computer that cannot be taken, i would recommend a strong anti-virus which is very secure in catching certain trojans and viruses. but if you are an average user i suggest a tried and tested product that received good reviews and is honest. Something that everyone recommends with not too much money involved. it won't help to do a little research as well on the product you're buying. nevertheless, good luck! :)

I have Avira right now. I used to have AVG. I am not quite sure which one is really the best. With regard to AVG, I tried to remove those threats that have been found when I scanned the computer but somehow failed to remove it.

in my opinion the best antivirus would be from Kaspersky. Kaspersky comes in different packages such as Kaspersky Antivirus, Kaspersky Internet Security & Kaspersky Mobile Security (for home user solution package). If you want full protection go for the Internet Security package. The package even includes protection from identity theft while surfing the net.
What's good about Kaspersky is that the software will ask the user whether or not to run a certain utility or software before they are executed in case they are not whitelisted. This way you can avoid malware, spyware etc. So good that it can sometimes be annoying. Hahaha...
But remember what good is an antivirus if its database is not updated. Whatever antivirus you use, you should frequently update it to ensure protection from latest threats.
Happy myLotting!

So far the Anti virus that best works for me is kaspersky internet security, I have the same experience as you, what I did was I tried downloading free trials of different anti virus available on the net and of those I tried, Kaspersky was the only one that was able to take out the virus, I think it's worth a try. Try looking for resellers online, they might give you reasonable price for the anti virus you want.

i think there is no one. as some are effective in some cases and some are in other cases.
i have used many but i am not satisfied with any by the time. as there is an intrusion of virus in my system now.
first thing is noticable that an antivirus will be able to perform only when it is updated regularly and other thing is that it should have the virus definition for the virus you have to control.
