On Sunday night, I was short of cash on my pocket. So I have to go to the nearby ATM machine to withdraw some money. The street was quiet, and the street light was dim. There was only me by the ATM machine. I was a little bit afraid of someone might jump out. I still have to do it. While I was on the process of withdrawing my cash; a car just came to the parking lot, and I was scare a little. Hurriedly, I take my cash and eject my debit card, back to the car and lock it. A little of bit fuss, but I don't want to be hijacked. Don't you scare at to withdraw your money at night?

It's scary to withdraw money in places with not much people in the day, how much more at night time?
This is the main reason why I usually withdraw money in the mornings inside malls instead of outside. There's a lot more chances for you to be robbed or hijacked at night outside as compared to malls.
I don't think it's a good idea either for you to continue the habit of withdrawing at night time. Else, find another bank or branch wherein there's security around at night.
It's better to be cautious that to be sorry.

Well, I understand how it was. It was my first time withdraw the money at night. Not because I Want to do it, because I just found out that I don't have much cash with me, and I have to meet a friend at the restaurant. So, It was an emergency for the moment.

Hi clorissa,
Yes, there are a time when I was so paranoid and scared on withdrawing my money from the ATM booth at night because, you'll never know if the place is safe or if there's any bad guys whose job is to steal money like hold uppers. So, I seldom withdraw from atm at night.

I never withdraw money at night because it is a little bit risky. Holduppers are everywhere especially many needs money because of the typhoons and the crisis. I prefer to withdraw by day with the people and security around. Even in malls you can't be safe there holduppers find a ways how to steal money from you.

Economy is bad, and not many people has job right now. Desperate situation can be found everywhere. So, beware where you are withdrawing money from. It just a little bit scary to me, since there is so many desperate people everywhere.

Almost sounds like you're making a horror story, haha. Yes, I'd be freaked out and no I do not do that at night.
I would be too afraid of getting robbed, and even if I got away, I'm sure my car wouldn't start..that would be my luck. So, on that thought, no I'll stay home instead.

No, no it's NOT too dramatic at all! I meant it would be a great part in a horror story the way you wrote it. I got scared just reading it so that's good because you made your point.
It's a great story to tell people and have them be aware of dangerous things that you really shouldn't do at night by yourself. I don't blame you for wondering if someone would jump out at you, I know I'd be like that too, that's why I don't do it. Tooooo scary for me!

The way I describing it, too dramatic isn't it? When I re - read the story, I found that unbelievable too. I just need to share this story, and tell people about it. Well, one heck of night that night. I was afraid some one might jump out from nowhere. I won't do that again, unless emergency.

I am always worried about withdrawing money from the ATM at nights even in a lighted area and even more so in a dark area because you never know who is watching and that situation is a prime situation for you to be robbed and worse hurt.I am happy to know that werent hurt

Yeah, I try to go to 24 hr shops that are open like a grocery store or somewhere with plenty of light. However, if it's not that imperative to get money out at that time of night...I won't because you never know what may happen.

Yes I am! With all the things that are happening! I really avoid withdrawing money at night. Even if the atm machine is well lighted, I still don't feel safe.
Bad people are just there ready to strike when given a chance. To think also once the machine dispensed your money, the bank has no liability to that anymore whether you are still in front of their machine of not.
I will not take risk. It is too dangerous. I will resort lending money to my relatives and paying them early morning if I badly need it. Withdrawing at night is the last thing I will consider. If I have no other choice, I will ask somebody at least two guy friends or relatives to accompany me. Just to be safe. I am damn scared!!!

Sometimes I was very scared to withdraw money in the middle of night. But if someone accompanied me,l it would be different story. =) I try my best not to withdraw money in the evening, but if I really really have to, I have no other choices. And I never bring amount of big money when I withdraw cash, just little amount of money so we can buy drink when it's emergency needed. And I always do it quickly, never tidy my wallet unless I get inside the car. =) But make sure you don't leave something out.

I am not afraid of going to an atm at night. I have just as much chance of being robbed at day time as I do at night. I don't have an imagination that conjures up the worst scenarios when I can't clearly see everything. I do get a little jumpy when I sees something running towards me and I can't make it out but I am also jumpy when I can see what's coming towards me.

Yes, I could imagine what you were feeling at that time. I seldom withdraw my money alone at night, but there was one time when my hubby was waiting at the car and I went inside the bank to the ATM machine. I saw a young man standing nearby a tree, just a few meters away from the glass door. At the same time there were a woman and a kid headed to the same bank. So, I just ignored the man. When the woman went out, I saw the man said something to the woman, but she hurriedly walked off and pulled the kid's hand. Then, I was feeling a little scared and cautious. When I walked out, the man said something, but I rushed to the car and jumped in. I said to hubby why he didn't go out and showed himself so that the man would know that I was not alone, but hubby didn't notice he was there. It was scary so, hubby quickly drove the car away...

it really depends where u withdraw the money. for sure, that was a scary thing that u did as u were alone and u withdrew in a quiet and deserted place. there are ATM machines in malls and it is safe to withdraw from there. there are a lot of people queuing to take their turns in withdrawing. it should not be scary withdrawing in places where u are with some people. we should be careful when withdrawing money from ATM machines. better yet, let somebody accompany u to do so.

I don't go to ATMs very often. Uusally I would go if money was an emergency. I prefer to go inside the bank or use my debit card. If I had no choice and i had to use an ATM at night, I don't think that I would go alone. If I didn't have somebody with me, I'd imagine every shadow, every sound in the night was coming for me. I would never get my ATM money because I would be turning around every few seconds to see if someone was behind me. My heart would be racing the whole time!

You probably have this side view because its usually seems like this that they show in movies. But I was never afraid, especially in my town, I find it pretty peaceful til now. But I don't think I would be afraid since there is a lot of things that the brain can do in scary moments, such as entering a house at night you will hear normal sounds that you don't really hear during the day. Same goes for ATM machines at night.

When I am home I do not go to a strange ATM by myself at night. The ones near where my home is though I have no fear at all. I am presently in the UK and after dark I don't even go out of the door by myself let alone to an ATM. Crime here is terrible and thr slap on the wrist laws encourage it. People who commit murder serve very few years. It is frightening.

Usually I won't withdraw money at late night. I will withdraw money in the morning instead. In the past I haven't considered about the security. But after reading some news about robbing the money when people withdraw money at night. I start to pay attention to it and avoid going to withdraw money alone at night.

I was going to withdraw some money from the ATM tonight as I went to gas up my car at around midnight but then I changed my mind and decided to withdraw it in the morning. I didn't really need the cash right away so I said forget about it.

It is really not very safe to withdraw money from an isolated Atm and that too at night time. But there may be emergencies when we need money even at night time. It would be wise to draw from a crowded place than quiet place. As far as posible try to draw cash in the morning that in evening or night. I have had an experience drawing money from an atm where there were ruffians who used to rob the person drawing cash. I was lucky that evening so there was no one around and could reach home safely alongwith the money drawn with the help of my nephew who was waiting for me just outside the atm with a bike ready to speed.

Every time I have a short budget of money and need to withdraw cash during night time. I always ask someone to accompany me and watch the area if it is secure or not before I am going to withdraw.
