In my country, due to the economy downturn, the sales in those retail shops are just continuing.. One of those big 'excuse' for the retailer is to have the Member's Day Sale! On this day, the queue to enter the retail outlet will start as early as an hour before store open and every 'member' will rush to it. In fact, it seems that the prices of good are slash up to 90% for certain goods. Therefore, some retail outlet did make good money in asking consumer to join their member, and charges appox USD4 (RM12) per card in order to enjoy the privilege. Some of my friends will even go a day before to check out the price, and on the actual day, they just enter to grab and go. You be surprise to see the long queue at the check out counter on that day! Do you go for such a sale? Do you have this kind of Member's Day Sale in your country?

cwong, My wife are members of Jusco. Jusco regularly offer Member's Day Sales. Being Malaysians we rushed for it. It seems there is no economic downturn for the shoppers. All of a sudden they spend and spend without a care.

Hi James, This year is my first time went to Jusco member's day sales. I went over to Mid valley for Jusco member's day sale few month back. As I didn't have its membership yet, I apply it on the spot so I get to go in the store. The crowded is there and I can see shoppers crazy over certain great offer like bedding, comforters there are having 70% off. The supermarket was having some sales on certain products like Mamy Poko diapers, toothpaste and rice. No surprise when you see shoppers' trolley with these offer products.

vingyan, A few words of advice. Do not over-spent. Buy what you need. Don't buy what is cheap. Cheap may not be what you need. You may end throwing away or giving away. What a waste!

cwong, I'm only a member of Jusco and nothing else. So I'm only privilege to go Jusco's Member sale. Before I had my boy I used to go for this kind of thing but now, no more. It's a hassle to go with a little one in tow. Furthermore, these days, sales are like throughout the year!

Hi submerryn, You are smart. What you say is absolutely right.Sales are almost throughout the year. We may have New Year Sales in January, Chinese New Year Sales and Valentine Sales in February, Renovation Sales in March by one supermarket,Clearance Sales in April offered by another supermarket, May will be Mother's Day sales, Father's day Sales will be in June, July may be Pre-Stock Check Sales, August may have Merdeka Sales, Hari Raya Sales in September, Deepavali Sales in October, November may have the Supermarket Anniversary Sales and Christmas sales in December. So you can see sales all year round. Let us buy what we need not what is cheap for cheap may not be what we need.

hi cwong77 Here in the US we do not have a members day sale but it sounds like it would be fun and to get really good deals on things would be so great. we do have special sales on holidays and they usually discount as much as 60 percent off which is always nice to have. I would go for a members day' sale if they had one here.

Hi Cwong! I like member's day sale, LOL. I like to go for Isetan members day! The sale is indeed worth to spend your money. I normally will receive its catalog before the sale. I will then go trough the catalog page by page to shortlist what are the things I want to buy. Isetan normally give additional 10% off for its member. The sale is from all the department from men, woman, kids and supermarket as well. The only thing I don't like about members day is the crowded. The economy downturn but still large number of shopper gather at Isetan members day sale. I hate the parking bay the most. I hardly find a place to park my car unless I go for other building for parking. And so I have to walk from another nearby building to KLCC. Do you want to join me for the nest member day sale?

Frankly, we have more cards than cash in our wallets ya..

Members Day Sale at Jusco is crazy. The roads here will be packed, office workers would take half day off just to be there! Anyway, there are sales throughout the year. The only difference is the amount of discount that you get. Happy shopping! ;)

cwong77, I can tell you that everywhere in the world - everything is literally on sale. I mean look around you can have that "closing down" sale which you can find that the shop is never closing, "warehouse clearance" sale which resembles some kind of Warehouse 13 where their merchandise just cannot be sold out, "Great Sale", "Everything Must Go!" or Crazy 90% Discount Sale. It is really the consumers' world now and whoever has the money is really the "King" or "Queen" here. Yet, I am always not following the flow. I feel that we should be logical, not let these get over our heads and get things we don't really need. I know the discount is really great and out of this world but again do I need another limited edition wallet, eau de toilette or whatever I already have. So, I will have my reservations here.
