First off, sorry about the delay in coming to mylot. There's been a lot going on and its left me a bit drained. At least I'm still up and at them though. Anyways, on to the discussion.
Mom had bypass surgery and needed a lot of help, so I stepped up and provided it (shouldn't be surprising for those that know me). Anyways, I've been taking care of her and dad too. My attention has been towards making sure their needs are met and that they are okay so I ended up skipping mylot for awhile.
Mom is recovering slowly but surely so there's some good news. It'll be awhile though before I can leave her and dad alone again.
I guess if there has to be a discussion question, did any of you have to go through something like this or are you going through something like this. If you are currently dealing with something similar, you've got my thoughts and wishes. I'm sure things will turn out for the best.
Until next time, mylotters.

I'm getting better with my "absences" Zed, and of course I apologize for any worry that may have been caused :D
I'll do my best to take care of my folks and watch out for myself.
Until next time!

My brother took care of Mom. Both of us took care of our sister when she was ill. I took care of a seriously ill husband. I know how all consuming that can be, yet it is gratifying to be able to help. I hope things clear up for you and your folks get to doing better soon.

Your post pretty much sums it up for me, same with Hatley. It might be draining, but its satisfying being there for my immediate family in their time of need.
Thanks for your well wishes too Gerty. You take care of yourself and your family too.

It is wonderful that you are able to help care for your parents. So often I hear people say "I don't have time" or "I can't do it." There was a time when people did these things without thought. It was something that families did. You are an exceptional person. Big huggers to you.

Sorry I haven't been on much lately myself. I hope everything is going okay with your parents and that they are doing well and that you are also. I'm pregnant so that's my exciting news. :D I haven't ever had to personally take care of parents like that, but I watched my grandma have to take care of her parents for a few years and it was so hard on her. My heart goes out to anyone struggling to care for sick parents. You're strong people for being able to do so.

hi programer missed you.glad you are back now, I was also gone for 11 months due to some huge catastrophes in my life but now I am back, in a retirement center until my son gets a job and accumulates enough money to get the two of us back into an apartment. the economy here in Ca is very very bad right now.
I do Admire you for caring for your mom and dad, instead of just sticking them in a nursing home and turning your back. I am not going through what you are going through, but you do have all my prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery for your mom and good health for you and your dad too. We became homeless for nine days at the end of that my dear son, who had lost his job and our apartment, called adult protective services as he was afraid for me, as I was 83 and had a bad leg and diabetes.so now I am here in this retirement center while he is in a government sponsored apartment with three other men all of whom are searching for jobs.
It might not be ideal but it is better than homeless.

Seems like you've had some issues too Hatley. I hope you're able to get better too and your son gets his affairs in order too. I really hope things turn around for those that need it too.
Take care Hatley! :3

it is tough going through something like that, my mom had cancer, we aren't that close and wondered what it would be like if we were. she's better now well she doesn't have cancer that is. other things have been going on in my life that has been draining. it's to long to discuss now but i'll get to it soon. hope things on your end get better soon though.

Hi progamer, Glad to see you back and to know that mom is improving. You are right, family must come first and taking care of our parents is important.I helped take care of my mother and father but they have been gone for quite a few years now. I still help care for my 83 year old brother sometimes so his daughter and son-in-law can have a break. Blessings.

I'm glad to see that you and your family are doing well. It is really nice of you to care for your parents the way you are. I cared for my great grandmother and my grandmother for years leading up to their passing and it is sometimes a difficult job to do. If you ever need to vent you know how to reach me.

I hope your mom has a speedy recovery as well as your dad. My dad is in fairly good health and I've never had to take care of him before, but, I'm sure that if he needed help I would help him. Good luck and I hope you take care of yourself as well!
