There is nothing wrong to take pride of the land breeding you.But it is unreasonable to accuse others of being out ouf fashion just because they do not learn chinese.

English is the only language that i know, and it will probably be the only one that i will ever know. I have never traveled out side the US so i never had the need to learn another language.

You do not need to learn a foreign language when travelling abroad. You can take a interpreter with you.Learning a foreign language has nothing to do with traveling abroad. As a chinese, maybe I would never have an opportunity to travel in America, but English enable me to communicate with english-speaking natives directly.

It's true that Chinese plays more and more important role in the world. More and more people learn Chinese for different reasons. But by conparison to English, Chinese is still a regional language which is only spoken in Great China areas. The influence of Chinese in other continents is still very limited. And it's a fact that many foreigners feel it difficult to learn Chinese for it's quite different from Western languages. What we'd better do is to help them, not to say words like "you will be out if you can't speak Chinese".

Yes,that's right.I don't agree on that point"you will be out if you can't speak Chinese",neither. Anyway,China is a developing country with lots of limitations and disadvantages in politics, education, economics and so on.

All languiages are equally good as long as they can fulfil the comminucative needs in people's daily life. For a frenzy patriot,of course his mother tongue is the most beautiful. But I have to point out, this viewpoint is racist and unmature.

It still has a long way to go befor chinese become a universally accepted language.Except some sinologists, few people in western counties have a sound mastery of Chinese.

I would very much like to learn Chinese, there are lots of chinese communities around the world. I hope I will have the opportunity as I personally like the language. Nevertheless, I would not go to the extent of saying that if one doesn't know chinese, he will be out. I think that's a little too much and impossible. enjoy!

maybe Chinese wants to become the first language in this world,it's still need a long way to go, this also need to increase our comprehensive national strength and paly more important roles in this world...There are the largest population of our world to speak Chinese, but it's not the most important language in this world...so wish our country stronger and stronger....

Hey, I'm also from China, I'm glad that more and more people learning Chinese. But frankly speaking, I don't think people are out if they cannot speak Chinese. And as you know, even many Chineses around the world, and they all speak Chinese, but in fact, there are so many dialects all called Chinese. They are quite different! Chinese abroad, maybe means Cantonese in fact. Anyway, I'm glad to make friends who like Chinese! And hope it will be more convenient speaking Chinese in other regions besides in China.
