i think that all the religions are a date expired prescription to control human activities. however few religion like buddhism will last few centuries as it is based on scientific foundation, the whole of its knowledge is based on understanding the mind and having control over it so that you will not be controlled by brain rather you will control the brain.
i dont see so scientific religion more than this.
what do you think about the religion is that all important.
one thing i forget to say there so many people in various part of world who dont follow any religon.

Hi wisdomsky I am not agreed with your view. Religions are not a date expired prescription it is we people/human beings twisted the actual meaning of religion. The path of religion is universal truth but for the sake of our self interest human beings un-necessarily blamed religion. No religion teach us to hate people, to divide people or to spread hatred speeches. Instead of blaming religion it will be better if we people are improving our attitude, behavior etc. I think still today religion is valid tool & guiding factor for human being.

yes no religion teach us to hate people, to divide people or to spread hatred speeches and i do agree that instead of blaming religoion it will be better if we people are improving our attitude behaviour etc.
but there are various religions and number of people following it is't that a division. is there acceptance of the other religion in the so called holly books of each religion can there be union among the people of various religion.if the one of religion was ultimate truth why is there so many religions.
these all are the tool for creating a good socity and it itself is not the truth as far i know.

to many ppl religion has been, still is and always will be a valid tool for htem..thats fine if thats what works for them....then there are those who've never felt religion has any purpose in their lives and thats fine too...Then you have those of us who USE TO feel a specific religion had purpose but then realized that it was more of a hinderance or whatever and switched to either no religion or being spiritual....thats fine too....
no two ppl are the same so there is no one solid answer that applies to everyone ya know..What works for me is perfect for me but wont work for anyone else and so on...

Religion has sank deeply in the human race either expressed in beliefs or non-beliefs. It is here to stay as it has been part of man's existence since time immemorial. So far, I am not aware of a religion getting expired as you put it. On the contrary it is gaining more and more adherents. Even those people who say they don't have a religion actually practice their non-belief as a religion, they religiously follow their non-belief and ready to defend it at all cost. They of course will deny this but the difference is only semantics.
At the end of the day, we will agree to disagree and to each his own. In the presence of so many religions, the wise thing to have is a peaceful co-existence and not competition to prove who is right and who is wrong. This is such a nice world to live in. Let's live in harmony.
Enjoy life, happy mylotting.

i mean that all religion are now are date expired in the sense that the foundation on which they rest are getting rather weaker as they are based on rather an illusionary concept like god heaven hell etc. yet some points about living style etc are still hold a positive part to create a good society.

"...the whole of its knowledge is based on understanding the mind and having control over it so that you will not be controlled by brain rather you will control the brain." How does that work?

I think if a religion is not true, then it is a waste to believe it. If it is true, then we should follow it completely.
What other people do is not relevant. If other people believe, or do not believe, should be irrelevant to whether you, or I, believe.
If it is true, follow it. If it is not, then forget whatever supposed benefits it might have.

I think religion will always exist. Communism, both in the Soviet bloc and in China have tried to destroy it, yet it thrives in both areas. Some religions have come and have gone. Others are here today and will be gone tomorrow. But some form of religion, meaning a way of understanding God, where individuals that have come to the same conclusions unify, will always exist.
The Bible has come under all sorts of attacks, yet it is still the world's best seller. I've heard that in China now, one is not considered educated unless they have read the Bible.
I believe that in time all false religion and religious errors will vanish, but a pure form of religion will thrive until it fills the earth.
Man has misused scientific knowledge just as much as he has misused religion. The problem is not religion but how religion is used or misused.
No, religion is not going to disappear but is here to stay!

I do agree that the religions are just the greatest hoax, but I think it is a inevitable stage of the developing of history.
When the society was uncivilized, people can't explain so many things arround them, so they followed the religion which guide them. Yet while the developing of the society, sciences explain almost everything in the objective way, I believe along with the development of the society and the science, Less and less people would follow the religions or to explain things with religions. Except someone just chasing a belief to fullfill their life.

i think each religion shows and tells the correct way unless it is not mold to get the advantages.
i think even the some follower of buddhism also on wrong way.
means is simple they are not following.
same for all religions that if the followers are honest there will not be any trouble.

If you wish to see a scientific religion, go read Al-Quran/The Koran. It says, 1400 years ago, that:
1. There are three layers protecting a baby in a womb
2. There are orbits for planets.
3. There are points where different sea currents meet and never gets mixed.
and so many more.
Care to explain why controlling your brain taught by Buddhism is "scientific" ? And are there any other teaching that sign that Buddhism is "scientific"? Does reincarnation "scientific" ?
And no, I do not think Islam is a expired prescription. The teachings of Al-Quran and Al-Hadists are everlasting and always current. Don't believe it? Then learn them yourself. If you truly believe that you all cool and under control, God Permit, you will find Al-Quran and Al-Hadists relevant with your lives.
It is the contemporary condition of human's civiliations that are so detached from their respective teachings that breed the thought that religions are limiting factors.
From what I found in Islam is that the limitations in Islam is introduced solely to make your live easier to go forward and reduce the risk of failures in achieving perfect harmony of worldy living and heavenly goal.
So no, Islam is not an expired prescription.
