Few days ago my PC got affected badly by this virus. Ok here is the story ... errr... sort of complicated. As the name suggests "newfolder.exe" it started making folders in my PC. Whenever I would open a folder a new folder with the same name would get created. For example: When I open "My documents" a folder named My documents got created inside My documents folder. I clicked on it ... nothing happened .... clicked again ... nah nothing. I got suspicious and pressed "ctrl + alt + delete" and I got message "your task manager has been disabled by your administrator" WTF!!! Then I restarted my PC all to reapeat the same!! .... it was getting slower by that time. I realised that its foolishness to play with the folders. So I started searching about the problem on the internet and I found that my PC was infected by "New folder.exe" virus. I realised that the folders that got created were actually ".exe" files and everytime I clicked it, the more instances of the virus started. Oh yeah! I forgot. I was using AVG 8.0 free edition antivirus. I used to update it daily. But it failed me in the war against viruses :(. Till the time I realised my PC had gone so slow that I could not do anything. Finally I was left with no choice other than formatting my PC completely.] Anyone who has similar expirience, please share what did to do to get rid of that fu*ckin newfolder.exe virus.

AVG does not detect the newfolder.exe virus. You need a good antivirus. Try BitDefender antivirus. It is the best i Found. It will delete all the viruses present in your computer and will not slow down your computer.

Anuramn, I would be careful of these removal tools! The scam is that these removal tool sites are the ones which install a virus on your pc in the first place. They allow you to run a free "scan" then send a message stating they have located numerous viruses on your pc (which they have just installed via the scan!), and the only way to remove them is to buy their very expensive anti virus programme. It's a money making scam and you would be better to try Malwarebytes (go to their site, just type in the name), which is totally free, and I've found it excellent so far for me. From what I've heard, any site which offers a removal tool for one particular virus is to be avoided.

I faced this virus once. When ever we open a folder, its opening one more folder with the same name inside the folder itself. With the attempt of knowing about this, within few minutes, two of drives almost about to exceed the memory capacity. The system begun to slow. Then only I realized it is a kind of virus. Then I tried for scanning with my anti virus software, I think it was Norton installed at that time. Nothing is detected..Then I uninstalled the anti virus and install one more anti virus software. No use. Likewise I tried with 5 software and finally some anti virus software removed it. But later I found that we can remove it from the command prompt itself. I was not familiar with this and also with the command prompt, I did not try for that. If is was not deleted by my fifth anti virus software, I was about to format the system..But fortunately, it got deleted.

That's the best thing you can do, format the drive, no tarces at least, but next time you can try Kaspersky Internet security, you can download it's free trial for 30 days and works very much the same as the retail, anyway, you only need 1 or 2 hours to clean those annoying virus.
