Have you ever been to a play?

I haven't been to a play in what seems like a hundred years. I do remember going to see Oliver Twist and the Nutcracker when I was younger but to be honest, going to a play hasn't even crossed my mind until recently. A college here is doing a play in regards to Halloween called The Bell Witch. I think I want to go see it. So what about you? Have you been to any plays? Do you frequent them or just go sometimes?

Wow... the last play I attended was eons ago! That was back when I was still in college! And that is a very long time ago. Hmm... I don't know if I would go to another play. They do not come cheap. Unless I can spare that time and money, why not?

I am sure you will get your chance. hmm... since your girls are always putting you to something THEY wanted all the time, how about making "Watching a Play" as a birthday or mother's day wish? That way, they will have to choice but to follow your wishes and not give you trouble on those two special days that are accorded to you!

It would be kind of neat to go see one huh? I think that the ones the local colleges and small theaters put on are fairly reasonable. I didn't get to see the one I wanted because my wicked girls wanted to put me through the haunted house expperience but I am still wanting to see one.

I love to go to shows, but I haven't been in ages because I either can't afford to go or I don't have anyone to go with.

Honestly, I don't foresee myself in Knoxville any time. Tho I have reasons to go - my sister, my uncle... But, as long as my mom is alive, they will be coming here. If I were to go to Knoxville - well, we'd have a whole lot of folks to go with!

I haven't. I wanted to go to the dinner theater but never did. The Bell Witch is supposed to be a true story. I read the book. Cool and interesting. I would go. It will be interesting. I would like to go the dinner theater sometime. We actually have alot of such things in my town but I never seem to go because no one else ever wants to go or I have that social anxiety thing too so I don't go out and do much by myself or with others.

Those sound like terrific plays! I know you enjoyed them immensely! When I was a teenager in Grand Rapids, Michigan I volunteered for a local theatre working on the sets and getting them together and as a thank you all the volunteers received 2 free tickets each. So, I saw a lot of good plays and enjoyed everyone of them. Here in San Diego I was sitting in a coffee house in winter enjoying a cup of hot chocolate when a friend saw me and came inside to invite me to a play with her. It was called, 'Marvin's Room'. Excellent play. See if if you can. They also made it into a movie starring Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep and Leonardo diCaprio. I was impressed because they did a pretty good job. I hope you get to see many more plays, Jen! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

I used to go to them a long time ago. In the theatre world there's a group of people who follow all the plays and make a kind of culture about it. I don't find plays all that good. A few of them are really worth watching. I saw one single play in all my life I thought was really good. The others are neither here nor there. They employ a lot of second rate actors. Sometimes there are glitches. Some things just don't work with plays. I prefer to go see a movie.

Kind of like the way fans follow bands on tour? There are a lot of people that prefer movies to plays. I think that the realism is a little of the play's charms. I may not like it as much as I'm hoping to but it will be doing something different for me. Thanks for the response.

I have been exposed to many plays and even been a stage actress for that matter during my school days. The one that i love was the Sound of Music where i play one of Mr. Vontrap's daughters. I was able to watch the play The King and I. The actors and actresses gave justice to their roles. They were really great.

I think that the greatness of any play no matter how great the idea really does boil down to the actors and how well they play the roles. It's great that you have had so much exposure to plays. Thanks for responding.

...i know in my own simple way i gave justice too to the roles that i played before. I missed those days being into plays and theaters.

Way back in high school, I became on of the lead charater in a play and its very fun not just because many people will watch you but because of the people behind the scene.. I've also watched a play once about Jeremiah from the bible and I like it. It's very dramatic and you can rally relate to the scenes.

I haven't been to a play in what seems like a MILLION years, but I really do enjoy going to them. I think it is just something that I don't think of going to. Jesus Christ Superstar was here last year and I really wanted to go, but had noone to go with and really didn't want to go alone, so I didn't go! :( I do remember my sisters and I going to see some famous people in a series of plays here MANY years ago and they were wonderful.....1776, Oklahoma, The Moon is Blue, Cabaret, etc. I have since gone to some of the high school plays in the area with my sorority group and one time with an area group here, because someone's daughter was in it. I can't remember the name of that play, but it has still been more years than I can remember, too.

Year ago I used to go out with a guy who used to work for a hospital and every year the hospital staff would put on theatrical performance and raise money for the hospital. The plays were absolutely brilliant and not as amateurish as I expected when I first went to see one. A couple of years ago my parents bought my husband and I tickets to a fantastic one woman play called “The book club” The star was a well known English actress and she was brilliant in it; she was on stage by herself for the entire performance and kept us completely entertained the whole time; she did a great job. I wish I could afford to go to the theatre more often, I love it!

Yes I have been to a play several times in my college years. Most plays that I saw were required of us in our fine arts class after which we make reaction papers to be submitted to the teacher. These plays are played in the school auditorium and played by school actors. The fees are minimal. And we also have season tickets where we get to see plays or other shows we like in one school year. There are also plays we need to see but these plays were played by professional actors. Then sometimes I get to watch plays because it's free. Then I have watched countless times the Fiddler on the roof with the same actor who played the main lead but sometimes the different characters are with different casts. It's fun but there were plays that were really boring.

I started going to plays when I was a little girl. The first play I ever went to was Shakespeare´s A muidsummer´s night dream. I was enchanted! Then when I was a teenager we got half price tickets to go to the theater at school. My best friend and I went to every play we could. Fortunatly my husband was also fond of plays so we went maybe once every two months for years. When thwere was a dictator at our country, plays were scarce and we only saw one in a long while. Now that I´m a widow, my brother andd my sister in law invite me to plays when they go. They are generous and caring so they even invite me to expensive shows that I couldn´t pay with my budget. Still I don´t go so often as I did before. But I think in part it is because theater has changed a lot. Happy posting!

I've been to a lot of plays. I used to watch plays often when I was still in school because they were part of school activities. But now I don't anymore. I don't know when I will watch a play again. I'd rather save my money for watching concerts or movies with my boyfriend.

There are a lot of people that would rather go to the movies or a concert. I actually just went to my forst concert a few months ago. I had a blast. I am trying to kind of mix things up a little for myself. I want to do a variety of things and I'm thinking a play would be pretty neat. Thanks for responding.
