Don t use hands of course, use a little more polite style, respect some rules in eating if you go to eat in a restaurant?
Home is more easier, you can stay as you want in your chair, you can eat with your hands help too, you can talk when you eat, or why not can laugh, in a restaurant you can make all this;
So, you have a different style in eating when you go to eat in a restaurant, or if you go in visit somebody else.
Maybe you have same style, nothing change just because all time you are natural and try just to be yourself?

At home being a Bengali we eat with our hands but while in a restaurant I prefer the follow the table manners and be as polite as possible..Its true I am more comfortable eating at home and I eat more while having meal at home..The way the food is cooked in a restaurant it makes it difficult to have more of it at once so I generally try and take only the required amounts..Anyway I eat out very less..only on special occassions or with friends..And then my favorite is Shiraj's Biriyani and Grub Club's Chicken Alfredo..
Have a nice day!

It depends on what kind of restaurant it is. If it is a buffet I might eat more. Restaurants do not give as much as they used to.

You are right. I will do the same. I can eat as many as i want if it's buffet. Maybe that's the main reason why you go for buffet so that yuo will have many foods to choose and decide what to eat more...no limit but make sure there's no leftovers. In the restaurant it's limited you just to have to enjoy what's in your plate. Of course the best place to eat will always be home you can eat and do whatever you like. I always observe table manners and conscoius about my diet--just eat right...enough...little!

hi ice^^;;
i have mostly the same habit of eating at home or at a restaurant. I have no strange habit while eating that i need to control and watch when im dining outside. there are restaurants that we can still use hands to help but ofcourse if i would go to a fancy one, then i think i need to learn to behave more and maintain table manners.
as with the amount of food, it's the same too. It only depends when i am more feeling hungry or not...though most of the times that we go out, i am staving so would eat more lol

I eat less when eat outside, whether in a restaurant or in a friends house, I cannot eat more that what I can eat when i'm home, I can easily get full when I eat outside. Also I don't talk to much when I eat outside specially in the restaurant, i tried to observe proper etiquette as much as possible, unlike when I'm home, I feel free of doing anything when I'm eating.

When I go outside to eat, I am definitely more conscious of how I present myself when I eat. I eat with, as you said, a more polite style and I make sure I don't look like some slob =P I sometimes talk while I eat but not to a great extent. I follow these rules when I am in someone else's house as well. But if I'm at home, I'm more relaxed and chill when it comes to how I eat and sometimes I do feel like a slob with the way I eat at home. I'm definitely more natural at home than I am outside.

When my husband and I eat out at restaurants, we will eat food that we don't usually eat at home. We like to order new and different things that we woudln't normally cook in the house. If we were going to eat the same thing out as at home, we might as well not go out at all.

Hello,
I will have to say that I'm my natural self, when I eat out at resturants, or invited out to dinner etc, to be honest I still talk at the table , I will laugh but not loud an d rude that is how I'm where ever I'm, there is nothing like being your natural self at a resturant etc when you are not a embarrasing, respectful kind of person. I also notice those who I eat with act the same. Happy My Lotting

I think it depends on which restaurant and who I am with as the number of people dines together in a table. Usually when my family and I eat out together, laughing and talking are hard to control, so, when we do want to talk or laugh, there are no holding back. As long as we do not disturb other people.
Sometimes, it really depends on the environment, if it's fine dining, we know how to behave ourselves and not forgetting the table manners, but if it's just an ordinary restaurant or fast food outlet, I will use both using my bare hands or the cutlery especially when eating crabs, chicken wings, prawns, fries etc.

Hi icesmile
I have same style and nothing to change. I eat at home with spoon and fork, sometimes knife if I eat steak. Same in the restaurant. For some food, like seafood or fried chicken with rice, some raw vegetables called 'lalap' in my country, I eat by hands, either in home or in restaurant. Of course it depends on the kind of food that is served by the restaurant. If it is fried rice, steak, pizza, etc, of course I can't eat it with hand. But if it's kind of food that better to eat with hands, surely other people in that restaurant will use their hands too, it's normal here. You will look strange if you insist to eat with fork or knife.
Btw, I eat more in the restaurant, maybe because of the environment, the smell there, garnish, etc.

I eat more at restaurants because I always eat what I've cooked so I like to experience someone else's hand cooking. I eat with more class when I'm out. I don't want to draw attention by yelling across the table, chewing and talking loudly. But I enjoy when I eat out because its different then the same old thing I make at home. So bottom line is that yes I do eat more when I'm at a restaurant and my style is more mannered and quiet than when I'm at home.
