Well i own a branded PC which is of HCL limited. But i still prefer assembled one because there is lot more scope for modifications in assembled PC.
You can have custom build chassis, various lightings, transparent side pane, custom power supply, motherboard, processor, RAM, hard drives and lot more.
And that all cost much less than a branded PC.
But the real thing is that branded PC have more sophisticated wiring and connections inside the box. And that take time to have that proper, perfect and neat wiring properly tied in an assembled one.
But the thing is that we can assemble a PC according to our choice of different parts and companies and all with different 3-5 years warranty independenty.
Whereas in branded PC we get 1 year warranty and extra 2 years by paying some more amount.

Our computer is assembled my sister's friend help her to chose what parts she's going to buy and the store going to assembled it for her. Her friend have knowledge in assemblinga pc and the store owner is also his friend so we have a discount to them. You can choose want you want to have in your pc unlike in ready made you can't choose what parts of the computer that you need.

You can updated branded PC just as well, unless the form factor doesn't allow you to add more components. As fast as technology making old components obsolete, your motherboard usually is the one component limiting your upgrade and functionality anyway, so unless you are knowledgeable enough to that upgrade, branded or assembled, your machine is going to be limited in usefulness in time.

Yes , I also recommend to buy branded PC by company for a new computer because they required most of support cause of lack computer information and a confidence of warranty.
But I am a old computer user know much more about computer's hardware, I bought all hardware self and ensure those warranty .And no requirement of normal supports so for me I like assembled PC.

I always prefer branded computers, as it's well designed by the IT experts with quality, and of course it comes with support and warranty. I am not good in computer technical, I always do not trust myself in assembling the computer, also I do not really trust those technical guys from the computer shops. Also, some shops do not provide good support.

Our desktop computer is assembled one and it is 7 years old. As the cost of the branded computers are much high when we bought the system, we chose this one. Even if we buy a branded one, the guarantee and warranty will be applicable for one or two years only. Most of the computers will work fine for about three or fours years without any problem and we need not bring it to the service. After this period, if we have to do some repair works , we need to pay.The assembled computers also working fine and our is still working well though we had to spend some amount in the recent days. But now the systems seems little slow. As we are having laptops, we are not using that much.I had already worked well for the amount we invested for that.

I have an assembled PC a.k.a custom built PC (my own personal computer) & a branded PC (a family PC) in my house. I think both of them have their own pros & cons. With a branded PC you will get a professional looking PC with a customer support service to aid you in case problems occur. The downside is that most branded computers are assembled in which you don't know the actual manufacturers & components of each components. Sometimes its also hard to upgrade a branded computer as they're usually not designed for upgrading. If you're not a tech geek then a branded PC won't be a problem to you.
The same goes for a custom built PC. With it you can choose your own component, your own configuration & your own look through PC modding. Its also easy for future upgrades for a custom built PC. With a custom built PC, you will also get a specific manufacturer's warranty for each component.

definitely branded computers are the best option, I have a branded computer which is an iMac and an assembled pc which I personally assembled, a quadcore. Assembled pc are way cheaper compared to branded one's with identical specs but what makes this branded pc's like HP, Apple, Dell etc expensive is like you said the reliabilty, quality and support that comes along with every unit , they have this superb quality control , each unit went into thorough quality testing, burn in and inspection but ofcourse these pc's are not perfect, trouble free when they come out from the factory but compared to assembled pc, they are more reliable.

On my experience, branded pc's are a little bit faster compared to their assembled counterpart pc's, one reason is the excellent driver support for the peripherals they have in their computers. One example is this, comparing my Imac with my quadcore pc, I find the iMac booted in xp via bootcamp, faster and smoother especially in 2d applications, compared to my quad pc considering that my iMac is only core2duo, but in games, the quad really edges the iMac. But it also depends, If your going to make or assembled a pc with the best and most expensive components available out there, it will somehow beat it's branded counterparts on benchmarks.

The service engineer at our office makes very good assembled PCs. Very recently, when I wanted to buy a recent configuration set, I did do the rounds of the usual computer shops. Branded PCs are good no doubt, they cost not very much in excess of assembled PCs and have warranty too but I doubt how good the after sales service is. One colleague of mine faced a lot of hassles with her Compaq set and another colleague was not very happy with his LG … so after a lot of considerations, I decided to go for an assembled set up. I discussed the configurations and everything with the service guy and he got it made in his workshop…all in all the computer is working fine and if ever there is any trouble, I can always contact him

Hi abhaijith,
I will go for a branded computer. I can’t assemble the parts and will require the help of professionals so better to get an assembled branded one. In my office the people who are offering service for maintenance is providing the computer and I think they are getting the parts and assembling by themselves. Recently we got a new computer and many of its parts are from different brands.

I use a branded computer at home. It is HP desktop. I don't prefer to take the risk of buying an assembled one. One of my friends got an assembled desktop and it have been working fine even after three years. I heard that you need to make sure that the mother board is intel when you go for an assembled computer. You can make an assembled desktop for ten thousand Indian ruppes, but a branded one of the same configuration will be around twice the money.

Hi daliaj,
For common people like us its really a risk to assemble a computer,as you said.Yeah,me too heard that best mother board is of Intel.
Yeah the cost just doubles when we come to the branded ones, but better is to be safe even if we paid a bit more.

I use an assembled computer. It gives trouble sometimes but all in all I am happy with my machine. I prefer assembled PC because I can choose the brand of each part. Moreover, every brand has its own warranty. Now if one buys a brand PC they get an all total warranty of 1 or 2 years. But in an assembled PC I can get 5 years warranty on my Hard disk. So I think it is better to buy parts from different brands and assemble them.

Hi abhaijith, my laptop is HCL, and the PC is assembled. I am very fond of the PC - it has lasted almost 6 years and still it going strong, touch wood. I watch tv with tv tuner card, and leave the music on, while doing some mylotting. he he. So I cant really say buy only branded stuff. U can get lucky like me u know. :)

Hi abhaijith,
I would prefer a assembled Pc since we can the configration wat we want at a reasonable price compard to the branded one. And we also upgrade our assmbled Pc at a cheaper price. The only disadvange in assembled one is we will have have the company warrenty only warrenty we get.

What we're using at home is assembled and it's doing me miracles! Hahaha! I'm just fortunate that my husband knows much on the technical side. If you're not confident on your troubleshooting skills then branded is better so you have the warranty.

Hello abhaijith,
I used to buy branded computer and just recently, I have been thinking to buy an assembled computer for my personal use. I don't have preference actually as I am not really good at computer stuff. I always depend on my husband to choose whatever need to whenever we decided to get a new computer.

I am using a branded PC last longer than a assembled Pc although the spare parts of the latter is available in every hardwares. I observe that branded PC computer parts who are authenticated stays longer because of its quality. The presence of warranty is also important as one could saves a lot than letting it fix in a computer shop. While assembled computer i have less trust as the assembler put parts which of unknown brand and most likely to get heat causing the computer damage. While a branded computer components is more good as it last longer and quality is high even though the price is more expensive than the assembled type.

Hello friend,
Branded computers are good since it is under the company's quality control proceedings.
But,i can say, assembled computers are good too, that depends on the brand you choose.
I had my pc for almost 9 years now and still working good,i just upgraded it last year from 512GB,i added one slot to make it 2GB and made it to dual processor.
It never give me headache, till now,my kids were using it.

i use the assembled pc. there is intel cpu obviously and that is branded. lol.
i mean that if you have the technical knowledge then you must go for assembled as it is easy to upgrade and manage the system and only the parts are needed which are required.
i have the assembled one, but if you are not a technical person you must go for branded and let the professionals do there work for you.
