Using a Cell Phone as a Theft Protection Device for a Car...

I was just wondering, how can I use a cell phone as a theft protection device for my car... does anyone have any idea? probably, I heard (or seen) one of the mobile operators offered anti-theft protection for cars... can't that be improvised too? how about keeping an old cell phone hidden in your car (of course silenced)? in that case, the car, if stolen, can easily be traced tracing the cell phone by the police... the only problem probably is about the arrangement to charge the phone... either, there has to be an arrangement to charge the phone in the car, else, one has to find other alternative(s) (may be when the car is at the garage)... is it a feasible proposition?

Oh very possible, I worked for sprint for a long time. They fix cell units to a charger in the trunk of many police plot vehicles. they place the vehicles in bad areas and wait for it to be stolen and track it with telenav. Its a great program actually, I also use it for my daughter on her phone, I dont often go tracking her down because I usually know where she is but incase she were kidnapped or something I would be able to track her right from my house. and you know kids always want the expensive up to date phones and criminals are most likely not going to just throw them out! And if they do atleast you have some idea where to look! It also has an awsome navigation program, I am not navigationally inclined so I love it!

I think that is quite possible. The only thing to consider is charging the phone. So maybe a line can be done which is somewhat hidden so it cannot be seen while it continuesly charge the phone.
