After big flop show of Windows Vista, MS released new version of Windows. According to MS it is fast and more reliable. They are targeting even net book PC.
As the netbooks got popularity, the linux OS increased in the market. For counter on that MS released revised Windows xp with service pack 3. So keeping netbooks in mind MS made Windows 7 less system hungry OS.
The actual problem is cost. Netbooks are famous for low cost. When it comes with LInux based OS it is minimum 50$ cheaper than that of Windows OS. I think MS should reduce the price of OS.

Even i tried Windows 7 beta on my 1.6 Ghz 1 Gb ram pc. I felt it is slow. Some times it hangs. The look is really good. I think if i have good core 2 duo processor and 4 Gb RAM Windows 7 will Rock!!! Functionality is also good. Crashing and hanging problem will not be there in final version i think.

Dont get me started about windows because I believe that Microsoft is a big ripoff .My reason for saying that is that I believe that any operating system after windows 98 is basically an upgrade of that Os and should cost as much .It is my belief that we should pay for upgrades rather than a new operating system because tehy are building on a basic kernel but then that is my view .With regards to the new OS 7 ,based on what I have heard it is an improvement on Vista based on teh sapce requirements so I am waiting to see how that goes.Dont think I will get it though as I am waiting first .

microsoft has earned a bad name for the promises it fails to keep. i see no reason to go in for 7...not as yet. i am very much happy with my xp and see no reason to abandon it. i would wait for a year or more till the truth about this new os is out. even if i buy a new pc i would prefer xp rather than 7.

I think the price of it will drop down maybe next year. It was just released and they are targeting high sales. I guess that's marketing. At first sale high while it's hot and then later on cut a bit of the price. But thing is if you can't afford it now, you'll have to wait for it lower its price which I think won't happen anytime soon. And by the way windows 7 rocks! It's the best of all windows version and maybe the best among all other operating systems out there.

Oh you're right there dragon. New software or this new windows 7 is really made for the new systems but they haven't forgotten the old ones. That's why they made it possible to have the requirements to run it smoothly as low as possible. But for those who's got really old systems and doesn't pass the minimum of win 7 then there's nothing much they can do but to stay with XP, upgrade, or buy a new computer. Technology is ever changing. Now you're in tomorrow your're out. :p

I'm surprised that so many have had trouble with Win 7. That's quite different than the reviews I have read for it and it has received top reviews. Win 7 is not power hungry as Vista and it does have good driver support. The only real problem I see is if you have older computers and you can get a small program from MS that will scan your computer and tell you if an upgrade to Win 7 will work on your computer and even tell you where you might have problems if you do. XP will someday have no support just like older OS's. One should never expect an older computer to have what is needed to keep upgrading to newer Operating Systems even though the computer works just fine. If you want to upgrade you just may have to realize that you may have to upgrade your hardware as well and usually buying a new computer is the easiest and cheapest route to take.

I am not familiar with Windows 7. In fact, from where I stand, I will continue using Windows XP for it is really a classial version.
It is said that Windows 7 is designed for faster and more reliable performance, so your PC just works the way you want it to. At the same time, compared with the lod versions, Windows 7 makes the basics easier than ever.
If people are interested in the lastest version, they can have a try.

Hmm I don't know if 7 sucks much more than Vista because I myself haven't been a great fan of Vista before. Right now I'm using the OEM version of 7 and from my point of view it's quite stable & I never ran into any problems so far. Plus they fixed Vista compatibility problem which was the main reason I shun from Vista after all. Well different users different opinions. But I still think that XP is the best of all the Windows that Microsoft had ever released. *Wink*

I already tried the beta release of Windows 7 and I think is far better than Vista, but personally, I still prefer windows XP because of speed and driver support, But if it's true that windows 7 is really a less system hungry OS, a lot will consider shifting or upgrading to this latest OS specially those who is still running on low specs. I myself will consider upgrading to with this one.

I use Window 7 since last 1 month and I think all MS is true this time. I think Window 7 is a combination of XP and Vista they use GUI vista and functionality used XP. It is liter then Vista, less notification and more touch screen PC friendly.
