When I was younger, movies like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Child's Play, were my enemies! I just couldn't watch them without being scared out of my mind!
Teenage years, I absolutely loved horror movies, and movies with alot of suspicion and action in them. I absolutely loved Wrong Turn, and Dawn of the Dead. I loved Doom, and movies with just some amazing casts in them and interesting, though horrifying themes to them. I never could understand how I could be so scared when I was younger to watch them.
Adult years, I'm once again embracing the childhood years, where I just cannot watch a horror film! I'll watch them, but chances are, I'll be hiding under the covers, on the edge of my seat, or screaming at every part that has that "jumpiness" to it. You know where the killer comes around the corner or something, lol.
I have turned into a wuss lol! I just don't like violence, I bad for everyone, but they sure are for me. My heart races and there's a guarentee I'll scream at the slightest thing lol. Don't get me wrong, I like them, I just dn't like the way they make me feel.
Do you like horror movies? Do they terrify you the same way they do me?

Yepper, I sure do like horror movies, I get a kick out of being spooked. I guess watching horror movies, for me, are a way to get a safe rush out of something. Get a rush out of getting caught off guard by the actors, directors, storylines. If it's real freaky movie then I do enjoy the "jumpiness" you mentioned. I guess films are a way for me to be put in danger but not real real danger. You know what I mean? Really, I know no real killer is going to come walking out from behind the couch to get me, at least I hope.
On another level, I did get really scared watching horror films as a kid, now that I'm older, I tend to laugh at them. The over the top tall tales, the long shadows, too dark to see if something is hiding in them. The violence isn't good either, violence in reality isn't good for anyone. But when it comes to the fantasy of horror, too much violence in a film can become cheesy, almost slapstick. There are a lot of comedy movies that also rely on violence to get the story's point across, too.

lol, they can definitely be comical!! The old ones especially. We noticed this last night, instead of the girls "running" from Jason, they just sit there and scream. Its like they're saying, "Here I am, kill me!" But I'm thankful of the reality that it is just a movie. I like you, love the ones with great storylines! I loved "My Bloody Valentine" it has to be my favorite this year so far! lol I sure hope no scary killer comes from around a corner or couch after us!! I just notice how I tend to look away and scream, more than I used to, at the smallest things, it is comical too, believe me. lol.

I love movies, but horror films doesn't appeal my interest. I find it annoying when ever i watch horror movies.Maybe it has something to do with my childhood fear of horror movies that still lingers in. I share the same feeling experience with the general population that it is indeed scary and the feeling that carry with it when ever we watch. Maybe i will learn not to shout and hide under the blanket if ever i will watch horror films.lol...

I honestly don't think it gets better to just watch them. My family and I all have different reactions to different movies. My mom seldom but almost always falls asleep during them, lol. She's really not afraid of anything, I don't think. My dad never watches them, my uncle refuses as well, and my brother loves them. I like them, though I won't watch them all the time. We watched the blair witch project the other night, which really isn't that horrible, but its bad enough. My brother was freaked out during the whole movie, and I couldn't help but laugh because I'm normally the one freaked out! He wouldn't even trust me to stand behind him, all I was doing afterall was just standing there, *smiles innocently* :p

Oh boy *sigh* we are soul sisters…I react exactly the same way as you. I love horror films, I enjoy them with my son but the only thing is that I cant watch the ‘real’ parts, if you know what I mean! I’ll hide behind my son, duck under covers, close my eyes and plug my ears…anything so that no the tiniest of sound gives me an inkling of what’s happening…yet, I have to be there, I just cannot miss them. And when the scariest part is over, I’ll nag my son to tell me exactly what happened!

lol I can't watch the "real" parts either. We were watching friday the 13th last night and I kept looking away! My neck was starting to get so tired, because Jason kept doing his "thing" every 5 secs it seems, lol. I can't miss them either, especially if its one I've waited for a long time to see! That's so cute, how you nag him to tell you what happened! lol! :) I agree, we must really be soul sisters

I remember very recently that a Horror film was released. And the Makers of this film (I do not remember the name of the movie) challenged that if anyone watches the movie in a Theater, alone, (the whole movie) he would be paid Rs.10 lakh. Not many came forward.
But a Brave young Bangalorean did try and succeeded.
I honestly do not have that much courage. But I do not mind watching Horror movies. But more than horror movies, I like murder mysteries which I feel are more interesting.

I don't know if I would've had that much courage either, anything could've happened with me in there by myself, lol. I do watch some horror movies alone though!
I think murder mysteries are more interesting too, probably because I really like mysteries, lol.

As far as the nightmares go... it depends on the person. I'm scared of them, but I don't have nightmares about them. lol

Yes, I like horror films alot. I have seen many and sometimes they terrify me. I like them because they are like scary fairy-tails and most times things happen in present days. Usually the stories are very interesting and catchy and you never know what will happen next. Also the special effects are very good in those kind of movies and actors are so convincing.

I am not a big fan of horror movies, unless i have someone to cuddle up with and "protect" me when I get scared. Though the other night we watched gremlins at work and my co-worker and I made fun of the movie to no end. Cant believe I was so afraid of the movie when I was younger

That movie is a classic! Along with Tremors! lol. I don't think I was ever afraid to watch those when I was younger, they weren't as bad as the others. Though, now, they do sorta remind me of those little furry things on the game "Chuzzle", only a more evil version, lol

I love horror films and they don't neccessarily terrify my but I do love all that violence, blood and gore! When I watch a good horror movie it always makes me wonder about questions such as what if? What if this was to happen in reality? What would I do if I suddenly found myself in a city plagued with zombies? How would I react in an end of world scenario? I love horror movies as they take me to places beyond imagination! I think of it as another form of escapism! I love to escape by either reading a good book or by watching a terrific horror movie. That's cool that it takes you to a different place beyond your imagination! I often wonder the same thing, what would I do in this movie? Would I survive? lol. Lets just say, sometimes I guess that's what terrifies me the most, but at the same time I realize that its just a movie. I love to escape by reading a book too!! Thanks for commenting

I used to love horror films. I guess to some extent I do still enjoy them. They're just very intriguing movies to watch, I suppose. I think the last one I saw was The Ring (American version, the first one, I think). I wanted to see Esther, but never got around to it. I do love those 70s and 80s horror staples, if only for Nostalgia's sake, lol. Some of them were really bad. Oh but those gremlins were cute! Haha!

lol! I was always afraid to watch the Gremlins, but then as I got older, it became one of my favorite movies to watch! They're so cute, but very deadly, lol, and funny at the same time. I love gizmo the most, he's the cute and cuddly, none deadly one. lol.

I like to watch horror movies once in a while..But I don't watch them as much as I used to..
I remember watching Friday the 13th with all alone at midnight when I was much younger..I was scared but I had to watch, so I turned the volume to low and then, it wasn't so scary anymore...

I remember watching Nightmare on Elm Street. The one where the girl is on top of the ceiling n the hospital, lol. I think my brother and I both got scared that night, and we hid under the covers. I have a tendency of turning away when I know something is fixing to happen, lol. I can't handle the whole "killing" scene. Though, I guess that's what makes the horror films.. horror films.

Hi,
I hate to tell you this, but, I have loved horror movies my whole life!! I Can still remeber my very first one.... the classic house on haunted hill !! my mom would not let my sister's and brother's let me see them, until I was around 8or9 years old. I loved it !!! and have been watching ever since. My favorite horror movies are those about haunted houses !! I watch ghost hunter's, ghost lab, destination truth, tha hauntings on discovery channel. I am sorry, you probably didnt want to ear this, But, I saw horror films and had to respond.
Just remember, except for the shows that I mentioned, they are just movies..designed for entertainment. Don't Be Afraid !!

I liked House on Haunted Hill as well. I know they aren't bad, and they're just movies. They just terrify me more than they used to. lol, but I still end up watching them and liking them, because of my mom and brother being big horror fans. My dad and uncle won't watch them either, lol. I think they're more into action movies. I love the ones about haunted houses too! I also really love GhostHunters! I've never watched the ones like ghost lab, destination truth, or the hauntings on the discovery channel, though I've noticed them, and I will check them out. The paranormal world is definitely something that fascinates me too! Those, I can really handle, its more the serial killers and stuff like that... thank you for commenting though! I'm glad you did. :)

Yes I do like horror movies. I like to watch them but not when I'm alone. Never. I will just only watch a horror movie if I'm with my family or friends. It's better that way because you get to scare your friends. :)

lol oh yes, its definitely better with family and friends. Last night my brother talked me into watching Friday the 13th. I was texting during the movie and I was forwarding a message from my mom's phone to mine, and mine was in my room - because right now its messed up, lol. Anyway, the phone starts ringing from the back of the house, and it freaked them both out! It was so funny because I wasn't even trying. My mom's ringtone on my phone is the ice cream truck song, and I ended up saying that I could so see "It" (you know, the clown), driving a ice cream truck. It was funny.
