What's bothering me right now is my unemployment. I'm struggling in making a decision if I should pursue my chosen profession (which doesn't have any good offers at the moment). I'm a newly licensed nurse and I'm looking for hospitals that can offer good quality training. And unfortunately, I haven't found anything yet which is really a disappointment. IF there will be an opening, you will still have to pay the hospital for them to allow you to train (which is very unethical but widely practiced by different hospitals). One more thing is that once I finished training (if that will happen), there are only a few job openings as well. If there will be, salary is below minimum wage (can you believe that?).
So,I'm thinking if I should just apply as a call center agent since the salary is high and most call centers here in our country is always hiring.

Hello Rhan,
I feel bad for whats happening. Noble professions like nursing and medicine should not involve money for employment, cos the service you do is priceless. No value should be tagged to such professions.. But I would urge you to be patient and try some more before you give up. Anybody can get into a call centre, but can everybody sit beside a terminally ill patient and take care of him?? No. Only a certified nurse like you can. There are millions of sick people all around the world waiting for an affectionate person to take care of them. There is so much of shortage for good nurses and doctors. Your service can do wonders in the lives of such sick people who have no hope of seeing tomorrow.
Trust me, I've had the chance of knowing the value of nursing in my life, in my mom's life.
So keep your spirit alive and keep trying. Would certifications help you meanwhile?Would it give you an edge over the rest?
Take care,
Karen

Thanks for that Karen. I'm flattered on how much you appreciate nurses like us. I do hope that all people are like you and would see our real value. However, I really can't blame those people who don't believe in us. I'll admit that there are few nurses and doctors who abuse our profession.
What you said really brought a smile to my face. It was heart warming and it made me proud that I am a nurse. I really appreciate. I'm still in a dilemma right now but I am doing my best to focus. I know God will lead me to the right path where I'm supposed to be. =)

I'd agree with you. We can't help but worry.. but we can only make things worse for ourselves by worrying. I strongly believe in Christ and this verse comes to my mind
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus"
This verse always calms me down. We may have the most terrible things happening to us, but knowing that I'm helpless and can't do a thing by worrying lets me transfer the control to God and let Him do what He wants to, in my life.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Karen

Sorry about that. I can see you're from the Philippines. So am I and I understand when you say financial situations. I know how bad our economy is right now, especially after the calamities. A lot of Filipinos are really affected, especially financially. I feel you there. And I really hope you'll be able to overcome those obstacles. Continue that strong faith and you will be fine. :)
If you don't mind me asking, what are your concerns about your health?

I am sorry to hear that jennylle. But don't lose hope. There are a lot of alternative ways for you to enjoy life. You say that you are taking care of you nephew and brother right? So don't think you are worthless because there are people who needs you. You can look for part time jobs though. Maybe spend a couple of hours a day so you can have an income. I know it's hard but maybe you just need a little push. Moving out won't be a solution to your problem since you have nowhere to go. Try sitting in a corner with a quiet environment, close your eyes and relax. Reflect on everything that's happening to you. Assess your life and try to look for ways for you to enjoy life. Maybe all you needed is some peace of mind. =)

Hi Stee,
WOW.. I'm so honoured! But to be frank, Im newer to MyLot than you are, buddy! Hardly a month old.. and my earnings still less than a dollar haha.. Im being frank. But I guess starting a few discussions(interesting ones) and following them up, making new friends, answering people's queries and getting referrals or new people to join MyLot could help in boosting your earnings. They say, doing "tasks" can get you as much as 4 bucks/task..but I've never tried them out cos most of them expect you to sign on to a website or write paragraphs on unknown topics.
In terms of discussions, you could start anything you feel would catch people's attention. Make sure you join 'interest groups' so you are aware of current/newly added discussions. Some of my discussions bombed while some others got a decent number of responses, so I guess it depends on how catchy you make it..
All the best Stee!
Cheers,
Karen
