I keep my doors locked when I leave home. I want to be safe than sorry later. I would never leave my doors unlocked. I live in a small town but I would not say it safe just becuase it is a small town. I do not want to be robbed and I do not want anything stolen from me. I never leave without locking my doors. Locking my doors in very important to me and the saftey of my house. I could not imagine what I would do if somone were to rob my house. I would have so much fear about leaving my house and staying there alone.

I make sure that my doors are locked before I leave my house. Our house are roobed before and I don't want to happen again. We lost some jewelries and money from our drawers. We learned that the thief used our window of my son's room to go inside our house.

I live in the country, a very rural area. Everybody knows everybody out here. I lock my doors if I am going to be gone all night, or late at night, but not during the day. You can see in the yard - it's all sand - if anyone has approached the door before you even get out of the car.
I had one person who used to steal from us. Whenever he was around I locked everything up tight. He would break through any lock - I think just to prove he could. The police never caught him, and neither did we. He finally broke the door for the third time and I quit locking it. It was cheaper to let him in than to keep buying doors and locks. He quit then, and has never done it since - about 5 years. The only other trouble we ever had was sometimes a small item would go missing from the yard - a tool, or a tire, or a quart of oil. Weeks later it would always be replaced the same way it disappeared.

Same here. I always check all the doors of the house see to it that it was lock before leaving the house. I would not feel comfortable later if I leave the house and missed one door not being checked.
I do not want to be rob, or let us say robbed again. Since my house before was robbed before, distroyed the kitchen window and pass there. Now even my windows are already secured. I had a lot of fear during that time.

I'm kind of phobic about locking doors when I leave the house, but I know if someone wanted in badly enough, they could find a way in. When we lived in the country, I never locked the doors. As a matter of fact, we didn't even have a key to the doors. The front one was mostly locked because it was kind of loose in the frame otherwise and let in a lot of cold or hot air. I remember one of the kids locking the back door - the one we always used - just playing around when we were all outside one time and my husband had to crawl through a window to open it.

be it small town or a metro city i think its not safe to leave the doors ajar if you are not there.i do check all the doors and windows before going out . i lock my doors even if i go to the next door neighbour's house due increased incidence of theft in my area.

We keep our doors locked when we are gone and even when we are home. We also lock them if only one is here and we are outside working. You never know who is lurking around, ready to pounce on you.
Although we keep our doors and windows securely locked, you are never safe from burglars. We have a second set of windows/storm windows which are heavy, but that didn't deter them about 7 years ago. They tried breaking into the window, but made it through our back door first. Must have been 2 working at the same time. They kicked a solid wooden door with a strong deadbolt lock off the hinges and the whole door frame was removed with their kicking! We were gone at the time, due to my daughter's surgery, so we are almost sure they knew this and waited until we didn't come back (making phone calls at 15 minute intervals without a name on our caller ID) and broke in the house and took about $6,000 worth, plus we had to buy a new door/frame, and had to have a new 6 ft. storm window made.

Yes I always lock my doors before I leave the house. However, you do that would not stop someone from breaking in if they really wanted to. My mom had her house broken in about 4 times. It was horrible. The house was ransacked and things were taken but I don't exactly remember what. This happened years ago. I'm thankful that I have a dog and the slightless noise he hears he will start to bark. So hopefully that would scare some burglars away.

I also live in a small town but I do not leave without locking my doors. I do not want to come home one day and fine someone in my house robbing me. You never know what is going to happen if you come home and someone is in your house. Some robber will just leave and others may attack you.

I always lock the doors before I leave the house .It is not safe to keep the doors opened .It will invite robbers to steal.I do have all the electical appliances and some cash in the house .Who would like them to be stolen?Never will I keep the doors opened when I go out .As it is i lock the doors when I am in the kitchen because when I am busy cooking it is not possible to watch the main door.

depends on where I am going and how long I plan to be gone
if I am just running to the local store or post office or to the school I wont bother locking the house up
but if I am going to be gone awhile or have to go to the next town to do major shopping then I will lovk the house up
we live in a small town that has a zero crime rate
