My sister and I always discussed going to America for a really long holiday and just travel around, see different places, explore the country. When it came to planning our trip we always got lost - we just couldn't decide where to go. There are so many places to go and they are so far apart from each other.
Needless to say, we never went.
Which US states do you think are the best to include in a travel to explorer the US?

Every State in the US of A will have something that will attract a tourist and it will devolve round ones individual interest. Having said this there are packages that take care of a little of everything. I went on such a package that covered New York, Bufallo, Washington, California, Florida (from where we took the Bahamas Cruise by the Royal Caribeans) Las Vegas, Grand Canyon. This gives you a taste of USA alright!! It was a 21 day holiday.

That sounds a good idea. The only problem is that you have to do what's planned, not what you want. But I guess it really gives you a good overview and then you can go back at some point and do the things you missed. Thanks a lot for the idea.

They do give time to do your own thing too. Yes. It is no doubt a bit rushed but the entire package is well programmed. You just have to be there on time and you are done!! I have been on several package tours - Europe, US of A, Australia/New Zealand and a big part of India. Canada was covered (not much though) with family. Hope you will have your dream come true!

Many of the states in the USA are interesting to explore. I have been to California three times. There I have visited Disneyland, Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Venice Beach. I loved going to lovely San Diego, Santa Barbara and San Francisco. It was amazing when I saw the Golden Gate Bridge.

I heard that the Golden Gate Bridge is impressive. But so are all the places you mention. That's the problem. There is just so much to see and you can't cover it all in 2-3 weeks!

Depending on what you want to experience, you can see beautiful beaches on the west coast of Florida. If you want to experience the flavor or the beginning of our nations origins, go to New England such as Massachussetts or Pennsylvania. If you want to explore hiking and extreme "sports" visit the west like Colorado or Nevada or New Mexico. It really just depends on what you want to do.
