All of those, and in most cases often enough that I couldnt even start to list all the names. I visit museums in every new town if I possibly can when I travel, and I really enjoy teh theatre whatever the genre. I've been to a few ballets and operas, not as many as plays, but that has been opportunity rather than deliberate choice. I wish I could go to the theatre more often, probably a couple of times a year is all we manage at the moment.

I like to find the museums in new towns too. It's the requesite for any vacation. I love museums.

I consider myself pretty cultured. I visit museums and art galleries when I have the chance, and I adore the theater. Sadly, I'm currently stuck in the middle of nowhere with only PBS as my theater outlet! I used to live in Boston and the Boston Symphony is just amazing! And we had so many amazing theaters - the Wang Center being the most well known. And the Museum of Fine Arts there had beautiful selection of art.
We have some local history Museums around here, but it's better than nothing!

Thanks for sharing! I'm the opposite. I came from a small town with only historical museums. The closest museum was in Cleveland and I was enthralled the few times I got to go. Now where I live there are at least 20 art museums within 45 minutes of here. We have the Fine Arts, The FLorida International (where I volunteer) and the Dali. Those are just the three big ones. Then in Sarasota we have the Ringling. Of the three the Dali is my favorite. If you ever come down this way you should check it out. It's major eye candy. You could be lost in the gift shop alone for hours - there is so much to look at. His paintings are interesting too. I like to try to find all the symbols in his work.

I have to admit I am a bit of a philistine when it comes to culture of the arts. I find them incredibly boring! I took my friend who's a culture freak to the Tate Gallery in London, he dragged me around for 3 yes 3 solid hours just looking at pictures, picture after picture after picture. I tried not to show I was too bored. After thirty minutes I started to get itchy feet. He loved it. It's probably the only art gallery I've ever been to and will ever go to! I went to see two musicals, the first was Joseph with Jason Donovan, many eons ago, and quite recently I went to see Evita in the West end, it was ok, but I far preferred the film version with Madonna and Antonio Banderas in. I've never been to a ballet or intend to.

You should try some more contemporary theater - RENT, Chicago, Wicked... I think they can be more appealing to males. Also maybe if you like pictures, try going to a small private gallery... they usually only take a few minutes to go through.

Whether I am cultured or not is for someone else to decide. I enjoy going to the theater, the opera, concerts, and museums. I also enjoy visiting old castles, palaces, churches and other historical monuments. Perhaps the biggest thrills I had was visiting the Louvre Museum in Paris and the El Prado Museum in Madrid. Perhaps the biggest thrill that I could wish for was seeing/hearing a Verde opera in La Scala Opera House in Milan.

Thank you for your answer - I wasn't judging you - it's just a title for the discussion to get people to look at it.

I have been to all your categories more than once and some more than others...oops sorry I have never seen a live performance of an opera but I have seen quite a few on television. I have been to the Louvre in Paris and the Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain along with some minor ones. I am interest in all the arts. My preference is for the old masters....there are very few contemporary artist (paintings) that I care for. I don't think I would call myself cultured just because I have heard and seen these things. Culture goes well beyond the arts in my opinion. Having an intelligent conversation on subjects that include history, politics, social problems, yes, and even some sporting events which include the Olympics, World Championships, marathons, F1 and the like). These two make add to our culture.

I have been to the opera a couple of times recently, and to a number of plays and musicals when I was a kid.
I don't feel that going to these types of events automatically makes you a more 'cultured' person. You would be surprised at how some people who go to these 'high class' events behave as if they were in a smelly cinema watching a Hollywood blockbuster.

What kind of events do you go to? What kind of gallas? Do you like art? Could you be a little more specific?

I don't know if I would consider myself cultured but I do enjoy several things on that list. I've been to many museums through out the country, both art and historical ones. I always enjoy them. I have also been to a few science museums. I love going to the theatre to see both drama and musical plays. Not sure if Phantom of the Opera counts for opera but that's the only thing close to opera that I have seen. Like I said not sure if that makes me cultured but I'd considered myself well rounded.

I've been to numerous museums, orchestra concerts, one opera, some plays and Riverdance. I don't recall all the names of the events.
This discussion reminds me of a TV show I saw where someone said, "Ain't ya got no culture?!"

Over the years I've been to several of each activity or place you listed; too numerous and in some cases too long ago to remember. All mostly in the New York, Boston, Chicago, Vancouver, B.C., Washington, D.C., Miami, and Tampa, Fla., area. I'm a "culture vulture" (and well traveled, too) and love going to museums, etc.
I was a musician in our area's first musical theatre, so maybe that qualifies for something in your list, too? :)
The ballet and opera are my least favorite of the cultural activities you mention (the exceptions are operas by Mozart, my favorite classical composer).
I live in a small resort town, and there aren't many museums in the area. I wish I lived closer to a large metropolitan area so I could visit museums, concerts, etc., more.
However, I don't think merely attending any of the activities mentioned in your list actually makes one cultured unless one has a good, well-rounded education, both academically and in the art of the social graces.
