Do you use or do you know all of the keys on a computer keyboard?

When it comes to the keyboard of a computer, are you familiar with those keys from F1, F2 till F12 and Insert, Delete, PriSc, Pause on the top row of the keyboard? Or do you ever use them or do you know their functions?
I never use them because I have no idea about those keys. What's more, I don't know if there is need for me to use any one of them since those keys are new to me though I see them on the keyboard each time I use my laptop.
So what about you, my fellow mylotters?
Do you know anything about those keys or are you just like me, not familiar with the use of those keys?
Thank you for your responses in advance. Have a beautiful day.

Hi lindiebuz: I learn to use F5 thanks to a friend that use to refresh their pages on the internet instead of closing the page and start from zero, this is very useful to me. Lol. XD

Hey willimajisir! I hate to admit it but, when I first learned
how to use the computer I was taught what all those F keys
were! And now I have absolutely no idea what any of them are
used for! They now have all the short cut keys so people just
really don't pay much attention to them anymore! I really need
to find out what they are now that you brought it up! I will
have to go do a search because it's bothering me! I'll let you
know if I find out some information on it!

I think I know more of them :) The F-keys are a great help if you learn to use them right. A few hints:
F1 - Help
F2 - Rename
F3 - Search
F4 - Select path / address
F5 - Update
F6 - Enter new path / address
and so on :)

Hello Phlamingho. It is so nice of you to let me know about the use of the first six F keys, but if you don't mind, I would be happy to know about the use of the rest from F7 to F12. Thank you so much for your response. Take care.

hahah alike you, I am not so familiar also about those keys. Well, F2 is I think I used that for exit and that is just what I know and the rest of those upper keys? I mean the upper keys above the numbers? I have no idea about everything in that area.

Hello Bebs. In my daily use of the computer, I don't use those F keys due to my poor knowledge in this respect, but I think that it is ok for me not to use them since I have no idea about their functions. Yet I expect to know something about those keys. Enjoy yourself, my dear friend.

Hello my friend williamjisir Ji,
Upto certain extent, I am very much familiar, but not all, for example, 'Print-screen' is when you want to print , whatever is seen on the screen at particular time. Same thing, I have been trying to find out,say 20 years back, when I learnt basic/Unix/cobalt etc. at taht time any of the 'F' could be filled with some sentences and while typing if you press, same thing will be typed. But now it is not possibe. These 'F' keys change according to use.
May God bless You and ave a great time .

certainly not,i never use the keys such as power, sleep, wake up and the F keys except F5,F11 and F12 although i know functions of many of them.and there are some keys i don't know their exactely means and when to use them for example insert, home, scroll lock.in fact,as a common user,we need not to know all of the keys or use them.
Have a nice day!

Hello shally_hh. I agree that there is no need for us to know all of the keys as a common user, but not for professionals. Yet I still hope that I will be able to know them all as times goes on when I use more and more of my laptop. Enjoy yourself, friend.

I have to confess my friend that I am ignorant to a lot of keys on my keyboard and what their utility is, I never use any of the F keys at the top, hey maybe this discussion might get people starting to find out what the different keys that are usually ignored are all about? There are 16 F keys on my computer and yet I don't use any of them, I think maybe that's a waste? Waste of keys or a waste of knowledge that could help me in my work?

Hello wolfie. Now I have learned from one of the responses that F5 is a "refresh" key and I have tried it. It does refresh the page each time I press it. It is interesting to know about it. Good day, wolfie.

I don't use those keys either. Once in awhile I'll use the f5 but not on a regular basis. When I need to restart my computer, I close it another way and not by using the keys. Don't really know what many of them can do so it's best to leave them alone. They actual keyboard keys I never look at when I'm typing. Memorized them years ago. Good to hear from you again.

No, I don't use all my keys on my keyboard because I've Linux on my keyboard and I've a Microsoft keyboard. There's a bit of a disconnect between the two systems.

haha, i think that lots of people are not that familar with those keys which is just like you and me because those fuctions are not neccessary or maybe not helpful enough for us to remind them.
however, if some special software is needed and run in your computer, then those keys totally forgotten by us may become active and helpful for us, because those keys usually have their own spcial use in some softwares.
in addition, a few days ago, when i needed to modify the names of documents or folders so often, i just wondered that if any shortcut key existed and made the work more convient, then i found that it is the key F2, which can totally satisfied my need.
good luck, my friends.
i am back and active, again.^_^

Now I have learned that F5 is "refresh" and I have tried it for a few times. I got to know this from one of the responders here. I am very happy to know about it. Happy posting, my dear friend.

hi well F1 you use as an emergency key when you need to escape from a program and nothing else seems to work. Insert stands for inserting something into a sentence, delete you surely must use occasionally as you need to get rid of a typing error. pause I am not sure of as I never have used it.But delete really comes in handy. Other than those I never use the others so know nothing about them. But F1 is a good one to know if you have a program stuck and nothing else will work on it you hit F1 and you will get rid of it.
