Hai I was eating moderate salty and more hot (chillies) dishes before my marriage. I am from State of Andhra Pradesh of South India where people are famous of eating very hot stuff. After marriage, for my old in-laws' sake, who were BP patients, I reduced adding more salt and chilli powder and made the cooking moderate. Then husband suffered with heart attack and I developed BP and now our cooking is with medium salt and chilly powder. What about you? Do you eat more salt, chilly or medium or less?

When we say Andhra, it is understood that the food will be very hot. Actually till I was in Andhra, I was eating lot of hot stuff. I still remember chilli bajji of Hyderabad Exhibition of Exhibition Grounds, conducted every year and my mouth waters. When my mother-in-law asked me how many green chillies I put for pappukura, I said 14, then my MIL screamed, Oh my God, stomach will get affected. When I made pappukura, she said very hot but my husband liked it. Then I decreased quantity of salt and chilli as my in-laws had BP. Now I am also eating less only. If I say very hot,my husband says look Andhra lady saying this. I know it is not good for health to eat more hot and salt.

Hello Buchi-bulla. I love it medium for the food. Too plain a dish or too salty a dish is not the kind that I like. Or I will add some other stuff to make it more tasty for me like soybean sauce if the dish is plain. Too salty food is not good to our health. By the way, I love to eat spicy food, but still I love it medium.

There was only one time when I had an Indian fried cake in a big restaurant in our small city where I work. It tastes good and I love it. We don't have many Indian foods here in my place. Maybe it is because my place is small. I am sure that more will be found in big cities.

Hi Bucchi_bulla, as a Thai person but stayed abroad, I hated chilli food at first. Once I found out that almost 90% of my friends always had chilli food, I had to practice myself no matter what. In the end, I just love chilli food. It just gives a different dimension to the taste. Glory hot food !!!

So you understood the taste of a chilli food. There is one stuff called chilli bajji, the image of which I uploaded in the earlier response of this discussion. If you eat that, you will give your kingdom for that.

Hi Buchi,
Normally south Indians are eating spicy foods always. They prefer to eat more chilies especially with the non-veg. But in North India people prefer to add less chilli powder but they have the habit of eating green chilli with their meals.
Having small kids at home I prefer to add less quantity of chilies. My hubby too prefers less chilli. Regarding salt, it should be in the right quantity, more or less won’t give the taste.

That is good. Too much chilli and salt is not good for health especially when children are there.

We eat salt and chilly in a moderate proportion. Though we both are having normal BP with tablets, we still prefer less salt and chillies. Even my children, can't eat more hot stuff except for potato chipss. Even we eat pickles occassionally.
