As we all know, Swine influenza is an infection by any one of several types of swine influenza virus. Nowadays, President Barack Obama has declared the swine flu outbreak a national emergency, giving his health chief the power to let hospitals move emergency rooms offsite to speed treatment and protect noninfected patients. Yes, H1N1 virus is spreading rapidly all over the world and everyone should be careful to keep helathy. What about that in your country? Do you have some tips that can keep us healthy? How to take precautions against H1N1 Virus(Swine Flu)? Thanks for your reply.

I think one of the problems in the United States is they did not border enough vaccine for all their citizens soul there will be a lot of people who have to do without. In Canada for a population of over 30 million they ordered 50 million doses and although it is a little late getting started, it will just begin next week inoculating people, at least they should have enough supplies. I can see Americans flooding across the border to get their swine flu shots as there is a probably a better supply here. Actually I am quite surprised at how many people are refusing to take the shots they would prefer to suffer through the flu. I just hope they do not clog up my hospital if I should need it for whatever reason. Next week I am going to get my swine flu shot. You have to roll the dice one way or the other either get the shot or get the flu there is no easy choices. You can try and avoid it all you want by not going out washing your hands and avoiding people in general, but it seems like the swine flu is here to stay so you still may get it next year even if you manage to avoid it this year. Yes you can eat all the broccoli and supplements you want to keep you healthy which in itself is not a bad thing however when you look at native people's when a new virus is introduced in days gone by it traditionally burned through them because they had no immunity to it. Common childhood diseases as well as the more virulent smallpox depopulated all areas of the North American continent, and nobody can dispute the native populations were healthy eating organic produce, fish and wild game. Fortunately for most people they will recover and I am told it is no worse or better than the regular seasonal flu to get however it does seem to be very contagious. Vaccination or flu seems to be your only choices.

I believe that I had the original swine flu in the 70's and do not consider myself at risk now. I have had the flu about five times in my life, only one time since I started getting the vaccines, and it was incredibly mild compared to when I was younger. I am more interested in getting the pneumonia vaccination and the one for shingles.

Washing your hands time to time, wearing a mask in a crowded place, especially on buses and trains, staying away from persons with fevers, visiting a doctor when you have the symptoms of fever are some of the precautions one must take against swine flu.I think the government should take quick steps to find a remedy for this as early as possible.Cheers!

Wearing a mask does not keep you from getting the virus. They put mask on people that are sick to minimize the spreading of droplets when they cough and sneeze. For the healthy people they take precaution from contracting it by not contaminating their hands and then put in your nose and mouth, thus the frequent handwashing, gloves may help if you come into frequent contact with possible contaminated surface, but you will need to dispose the gloves at appropriate intervals.

Do not visit the hospital!! I always catch something when I do, even without the h1n1 virus being around. Wash hands often with warm water, rub dry with paper towels.Friction is a big part of killing germs. Use hand sanitizer often. Eat healthy foods, get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water and juices.

We all need to keep our immune systems strong. Most people get sick because of a lack of the right nutrition. If everyone does what they are supposed to do to keep germs and bacteria at bay then we can help stay well. Eating a diet of high fiber and anti-oxidants will help. The stronger we all are the more remote such a virus will be. Being responsible for our own areas and what we need to do to safe guard our people in those areas is very important. Small children, pregnant woman and the aged should all be looked after and given the best nutrients possible.

I think that the majority of things that we can do as individuals to protect ourselves from the H1N1 Virus are the common sense things that we typically do to keep ourselves healthy anyway. Make sure to wash your hands often, especially if you come in contact with someone that may be ill. Cough or sneeze into your elbow as opposed to the palm of your hand. Encourage people around you to stay at home when they are feeling ill in any way. From what I understand, the swine flu can manifest itself in many ways, so you really don't want to be around anyone that feels ill at all.

he H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus can be deadly. Protect yourself by reading this article. Whether or not you believe the H1N1 (Swine Flu) to be as deadly as the media is touting or just a figment of their imagination and fear mongering by Big Parma the following guidelines will help with prevention of H1N1 and any other type of flu virus. It does us all well to stay as healthy as possible and to do that we need a well-functioning immune system. Putting these guidelines into effect will help prevent the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus. 1) Washing of the hands is essential. Wash at least 20 seconds. When leaving a restroom, always use a paper towel to open the door, unless it is a push type door then you can use your shoulder or arm to open the door. If you have been in a crowd or have greeted a number of people by shaking hands, always wash your hands before rubbing your eyes, scratching your nose or removing something from your mouth. 2) Get plenty of rest. When your body is tired or worn out, it is difficult to fight off any type of sickness. Lack of rest also depresses your immune system. 3) Regular exercise. When you exercise your blood flow increases and it thereby increases the function of the immune system as it circulates through out the body. 4) Eat your garlic. Garlic has antibiotic properties and fights many different viruses and bacteria. It is difficult to overuse garlic but if you are averse to it's flavor or smell or just plain don't like it, don't use it as you will not be able to tolerate the needed amount. 5) Stay away from highly processed foods and sugary foods. Sugar depresses your immune system function. 6) Avoid stress as much as possible. When the body is stressed it will have a hard time preventing the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus or any other virus. 7) Use an omega-3 oil supplement. If you are not able to get a sufficient amount of omega-3s in your body you may need to take a supplement. The correct amount will vary from person to person and you will need to research for your correct amount. 8) Take vitaminD3. Be sure it is D3 and not a synthetic D vitamin. To be absolutely sure of vitamin D3 levels you may want to have it tested at a competent lab. You want to maintain D3 levels at 50-70 ng/ml. And if you do feel flu symptoms coming on you may be able to hold it off with a dosage of 50,000 units per day for no longer than 3 days. 9) Last, and certainly not least, you may want to avoid hospitals and emergency rooms...unless absolutely necessary. You are more than likely to catch or find more virulent viruses there than anywhere else. By putting the above guidelines into effect you will not only go a long way in preventing he H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus but you will also improve your overall health, find you get sick less often and go on living a healthy life. thanks to ironlifter746 for the info.

Hi getbrowser, There are several things that can be done, one is when you are out in public, wear gloves when opening or closing doors. Others are to stop shaking hands, cough into a tissue or your sleeve and not into your hand. Of course, probably the most important is to wash your hands often. Blessings.

I don't take precautions. I have had the flu twice during my entire 55 years on this planet and I leave myself open to it. That's why I don't get it! I let my system fight viruses and germs by itself and I don't get vaccinated. My immune system is strong because of that. I'm not saying I'll never get the flu. But by not getting flu shots, eating a healthy diet and not being afraid of germs I think my system resists all strains of flu because I've allowed it to fight. I don't think swine flu is as dangerous as everyone says, except for those with respiratory conditions or other medical conditions that it might aggravate.

..as advise by experts all over the world, to prevent spreading this virus, wash our hands frequently, by making sure soap is lathered vigorously on your hand to increase the effectiveness of the soap, disinfecting surfaces regularly like door knobs, stair railings and etc. and when coughing, instead of using our hand use your crook of your elbow to prevent the spread of germs.....

Swine Flu, first epidemic of this century. WHO already declared it to be an epidemic. Many countries have declared emergency for fighting this swine flu. Very recent declaration of emergency has taken place in USA. Prevention is better than cure. So mostly we all should put priority to preventing the disease. Apart from allopathy, homeopathy and other herbals also found to be very effective in preventing this disease. Ginger, garlic, ginseng etc are found to be very effective for preventing this swine flu. There are some special hygienic tips also, which requires special attention and practice to prevent the disease. In most of the countries, concern health department has circulated these tips.

Hi browser, perhaps you know that influenzas are diseases that spread through air. Now taking it from the aforementioned, it will be hugely pertinent that you avoid crowded area with low ventilation, often wash your hands as you shake people, avoid catarrh patients because this virus as unique as it is stays right at the uper part of the oesophagus & so spreads as one sneezes. But luckily for us it not as dreadful as bird flu but as it is more dreadful to women that have taken the family way, they should even be more careful.
