I just want to know your view about which monitor is better. CRT or TFT. i think in some cases the viewing ability is still better some time of TFT but TFT takes lesser space and energy what you say

well my friend the thing is simple. TFT will sure be the better option to have. It is less energy consuming so that means you are contributing a little but something to the environment and that is something which we should all do. Also they generate less heat and radiation which will be good for health and your eyes. Also they take less space. But yes, one thing is problematic about them - and thats the fact that they are not resolution friendly. i mean you cannot reduce your resolution. And that creates problems for gamers.

thanks for response... you are correct . obviously it has many advantages thats why it has made CRTs unpopular now. and the thing you have pointed out is definetly its disadvantage. i think the manufacturers also must take this seriously.

TFT has most of the advantage compared to CRT definitely, lets put it like this, crt is the old type display monitor and tft is the modern type of display monitor. TFT is very thin compare to crt so it occupies less space, TFT consumes less power compared to CRT's, TFT produce less heat compared to CRT's, TFT's has no electromagnetic radiation compared to CRT's and TFT's are more environment friendly, when disposed compared to CRT's with lots glass, plastic, mercury and lead which is harmful to the environment if not properly disposed.

thanks for response i agree with you as crt takes more place than tft and even it consumes more power n then enviornment unfriendly too.

Hi 1anurag1, I have a CRT monitor. I have been working on computers since last 20 odd years now, of which only last 10 odd years are with colored monitor, and there was a brief period of about 1 year when I used LCD. U would think my eyes would be write off by now. But strangely no doctor is willing to give me glasses as yet.:( Oh! I dig that educated sophisticated look. Not the nerd kind. But the kind that makes people become cautious to talk to u. God be willing I will get it someday. Based on this, if anybody said CRTs are bad, I would be nodding my head.:) But it is not my concern for space that is prompting me to say so. I think there should be more space all around the computer. U cant enjoy working if u feel cramped, and that is how it is most of the time. The ergonomic criteria that we follow in India is crap. My father actually designed the table for me. I may be one of the only few who doesn't complain of back aches. But as long as I worked, I had these unbearable leg pains. So it is the question of one size doesn't fit all. If u have more room around ur computer for manouvering, then it hardly matters if it is CRT or TFT, does it. As to energy savings, they would be significant if it is a bunch of computers 10 or 20. Saving on energy from one computer? At what cost? Eyes? Not to sure its worth it.

I prefer projector as my monitor rather than CRT or TFT/LCD/PLASMA. Why? Projector is better than those have mention above aside from no eyestrain it is the biggest screen ever that you can't imagined. Watching movie in these screen is just likely you're in the movie house, so as if you have a mini theater at home. Not only that posture is not a problem, even in your bed laying you can still manage read and view what you're doing. If this device will bargain soon i'll donate my 22 inch LCD.

i would love to get that donation.lol i think it is very good idea to have the projector but i think it is too costly. and some time unfeasible when you will have to install many. i think CRT is not very good in term of space , elecricity and health. TFTs are better. thanks for response.

ohh i want a TFT and throw this CRT i am using, TFT has a higher pixel rating, w/c means more true colors and well define screen, other than low on electricity and more space friendly

TFT is the best. a TFT has the sharp features of a CRT with the slimmed look of a LCD. Actually, TFT is a toned version of CRT. now if we compare LCD with TFT, TFT wins again because LCD's suffer from poor viewing angles, something that TFT's dont suffer from.

TFT is much better than CRT monitors. The main advantage is that TFT consumes much lesser electricity than the latter and the space required for CRT is also huge. TFT are good in terms of portability too.

According to me CRT is better than any other monitor..because..the display is clear in CRT Monitor..and in TFT Monitor if you see anything like movies from corner or from far..then display is not clear..but here is an advantage of TFT..monitor if you have no more space for computer...then TFT is right choice.. and it doesn't take more place..

I think that TFT is better. It is better for your eyes and viewing.
