How do you feel about this and what are your reasons? Do you ever guess the amount of candy wrong when you buy candy for the trick or treaters?

I love giving out candy! I have enough for about 400 kids and I hope that will do. I hate running out and having to turn the beggars away. We have a lot of kids here, it's unbelievable! For two hours they flood the neighborhood and just keep coming in waves. I love it!

OMG? 400 kids? Bit like feeding the 5000? I am fortunate in that in our neighbourhood the maximum times we get knocked upon is twice believe it or not. Mind you I guess Halloween is totally different in the UK than in the USA?

Ha! Yes, a bit like feeding the 5000 only it costs me more than a fish and a loaf! It makes me happy, though, it's a lot of fun for me.

I don't have trick or treaters because I live in an apartment complex. The complex's office has a trick or treating thing set up for all the children in the complex who want to attend. They decorate a vacant apartment in a "spooky" way, and then they play a few games, and they hand out candy. A safe way for the kids to have fun, and it keeps apartment dwellers happy because no one is knocking on their door.

Fortunately each Halloween our door is only knocked upon once or twice the maximum, but I guess the Halloween festivities is less popular here in the UK than obviously USA. We do keep sweets in, not that the kids get nasty but for the small price of a few bags of candy it's not worth the hassle of saying trick or refusing them. We guage is right now, because we used to buy too much and anything we had left dad would happily finish off!

I do not buy it, no kids in my block, and I do not need to eat it. I usually am gone.

In Australia we don’t always get trick or treaters but I usually have some chocolate to give out if they come to my door. My daughter went last year with her dad and she came back with candy, dried fruit, biscuits etc; someone even gave her two dollars!

I am not going to be home but bought candy anyway! LOL....I am taking some to my sisters as I'll be spending the weekend at her house....I'll give some to my granddaughter and some to my son and his wife.....just to get it out of the house! I do usually hand out candy....I don't think there's anything wrong with giving candy to kids once a year though sometimes in the past I have given pencils etc instead....one year I did give quarters too.

Oh I enjoy giving out candy to the trick or treaters. I love seeing the small kids in their little costumes. The little girls dressed as princess, and the little boys as action heros, etc.

Yes..I always hand out candy. I take my girls out for a while and then they like to give out candy to the other children that show up later. I have misjudged before. One Halloween I bought two huge bags of candy and I got wiped out woth one very bif group of children..lol..I mean a very big group. I had to run out and get more. We lived in a neighborhood that would have children come from miles around.

My kids are still young ages eight and ten so we will be dressing up and going out for trick or treating this year. My son is going as a ninja warrior and my daughter is dressing up as a princess. We will probably be going out for Halloween trick or treating until the kids are older and then we will more than likely sit out on the front porch and hand it out...we are located in a great spot to where a lot of the town comes to when they are trick or treating.
