Hi mylotters,
Today is my daughter's last written exam ...Whew!!!! I feel as if MY exams are over. For the last two weeks I was busy helping her prepare for the exams, and last two days were worst, as she had English on monday and maths on tuesday and today.... its mother tongue....
I had promised her an ice-cream if she cooperates with me well during the preparation.... and now I think I also deserve that ice cream....
Last two days I was bit angry with my son also for disturbing us and with my daughter for not concentrating ....
Phew!!! now its really over, all of us can be happy and cheerful again....
How do you feel during your kid's exams, do you also feel the same way as I do....

Hi, Today most parents feel stressed when their kids have exams. If fact they are more worried than their children. It is as if the parents are having exams themselves, not the children. In my case, I have no tension when my son is taking
examinations. He has no worry at all. He is even blogging the night before he has a
paper.

Last year my sat for Primary Six Examination. He scored 4 As and 1 B . To obtain this
results without tuition is good, I believe.

Last time, I felt stressed during the examination time. Now, I became more relaxed because I had a better planning for their study. My children will revise and completed mock test papers one months before examination. The rest of the time is going through the common mistakes that they made. I hope that they can learn from his mistake. When they are preparing well for examination, we celebrate with them by buying ice-cream for the whole family. We celebrate the process of prepare for the study. We acknowledge their attitude of harworking, attentiveness and responsiblity rather than just emphasis on results. We will have less stress.

When we do the mock test earlier, we shall have more time. When we are more prepared, we shall have less stressed. Relaxed for a moment. We can give time and space for children to make a mistake and learn from their mistakes. Our role as a parent is to provide a listening ear and be there for them and be patient. I am learning from my children.

Great!!! that she gets 'A' everytime....
Here for mother tongue we can choose either Chinese, Malay or Tamil language..... my daughter learns Tamil....
Only some schools offer Hindi.... if the school dont have Hindi as an option the kids will have to learn mother tongue from other places....

yes, especially if my sister will not listen to me. i just give her space and i dont want to force to her study whenever its night time. we always do her assignments or study for an exam during the afternoon or right after school.

I have a fourteen year old son. He is clever and works hard so he does well at school. However in my opinion he doesn't do enough revising. I wish he would do far more revising past topics. Luckily he has already begun his General Certificate of Education exams. He has done some units in Maths and Humanities. I feel stressed about his exams. Fortunately he likes exams. I wonder what his results will be. I wish he would give some thought to what he would like his future career to be.

Hi kkanaka,
Yes, I do feel stressed during examination period of my kids. When the pointers for exam are given out, I make an test paper for each subject, this is a practice exam I give to my kids. I also monitor their study time, I sit with them on the study table and together we review their subjects. When the exams are over it's like a great relief. I reward my kids by dining out and buying things they fancy.

Dear kkanaka,
Hahaha, this topic reminds me of my friend. She is my son's classmate's
mum. She only had a son just like me. Quite a few of us has only one
kid. We called ourselves the 'One Child's Club'. Last year
all our children sat for the Government 'UPSR' exam which will decide
which school they are going. She ended up having high blood pressure
and irregular heartbeat. The doctor advised her to relax. He said 'you
cannot afford to get anxiety and worries as your son is only 12 years old
now. He still have 2 major exams to go when he is 15, 17 and college'
I do feel some stress when my son exam approaching, worried for his
'relax' attitude. Once over, I am relieve...LOL

It is very common for parents to feel stressed during their childrens' exams.
As far as I know, One side parents encourage their children to do a well job with a relaxed feeling, at the same time feel worried about their kid's performance in the exams. It seems that parents have to face more pressure that their children during the exam period.
Every parents may meet such a situation if they wish their children success.
