Will you hang your phone if you get irritating and continuous prank calls?

What if important calls come in? There are times when for unknown reasons someone decided to play pranks, dialling your number and refusing to talk when you answered. I find that very irritating but I can't hang my phone just in case an important call comes in. I tried it once but only for a few minutes. I felt that in my trying to stop the prankster, I might end up being loser in case I miss important calls especially business ones. How will handle a prankster? any good idea?

If I get two prank calls in succession, I save the number and put a specific name so that the next time he calls, I already know who he is. Most common name that I tag for these callers is "Buang" (a fool). If he uses another number or if another different prank call comes in, i tag him "Buang2" and so forth, hahahaha. With the continuous prank calls, I usually switch off my cellphone for an hour (the most). I always believe that if a relative or friend calls for a very important reason, I am sure he knows where to get in touch with me. One time in the years that my life was on threat, I had received text messages and calls from numbers not on my contact list. I referred that number to the escort police that was assigned to me and he called the number himself. Maybe he warned the caller because he apologized thru text. Also, if they continuously call and send text messages, I reply to these messages and request them not to do it again. It always worked for me.

good tips my friend. I don't want to be "buang3" LOL. I don't intend to make prank calls anyway, if ever I do call, it will be a serious one the one that you will label "seryoso1" hahaha Yes it would be nice to have a person in authority to help you out.

I hate these sort of phone calls or the phone calls from call centers asking if you want double glazing etc etc If I wanted it I would go and buy it don't harrass me on the phone. They don't even care about the time, they will ring at 7:30am or 9pm grrr. I have caller ID on my phone and I do as moneymaker does I tag the numbers, so when they show on the display I know not to pick the phone up. If its always the same number your call provider can sometimes put a trace on your phone and then the info they collect can be sent to the police as repeatedly phoning someone can be seen as harrassment.

I call them back, then when they answer make a really loud noise into the phone. One of those air horns in a can works well. If for some reason you dont get the guilty party, but like the mother of the idiot in question, let her know that she needs to remove that childs phone privlages. Then scren your calls for an hour or so just to make sure they dont call back and try the same thing to you.

Yes, I remember calling back a prankster years ago and he didn't dare talk. Air horns will be a good idea if you have a caller id, other wise you might irritate a serious caller. LOL thanks rodsman

I know on my cell phone I would get prank calls and it finally got to the point where I had to change my number. It was a pain, but to me it was important to get these prank calls to stop. I was also getting harassment calls which made me want to change it even more. Is there anyway possible you could change your number and maybe request that it be an unlisted number?

I don't know how it's done in the US, but here in the Philippines, there are some cellphone units where there is an option to block a certain number. There was a time when I get prank calls on my cellphone and like you, I also changed my number, it stopped for a while and how he got my new number is unbelievable. In your case, I'm sure service providers are more than willing to entertain inquiries of this nature. Give it a try my friend.

Oh there is a very simple solution to this problem. most of the service provides have the facility of having a reject list or barring incoming calls from particular number. thee therefore i would barred the incoming calls from that number from which i'm getting those pranks. so mny mny now i'm free from those pranks and even do not miss any important calls

Some cellphone units have barring options too. I am thinking more along the line of landlines. I hope those making prank calls will not call you using a different number

Well, some phone providers can block numbers from calling you. I did this when commercials and pranksters started to annoy me and such.

That would be a nice move if the caller is calling from one phone. Otherwise if they really decide to do something stupid, they will just call from another phone. cheers!
