Tips/Exercises for losing weight

Hi everyone! I need some advice/tips, whatever you'd like to call it. I'm trying to lose weight and get into better shape, I had a sleeping disorder back in high school, I graduated in 2004 and I gained weight from it since I slept 18 hours a day, insane I know. I use to be so active, play sports, etc and now I can't seem to lose the weight I've gained, I know some of it comes from bad eating habits also.
I try so hard to eat healthy, everyone does like a snack and likes to splurge sometimes, you only do live once but I do love my fruits and veggies a lot also and yogurt too. I just don't know how to lose the weight, I walk everyday but I don't know of any exercises I can do at home that won't cost me money since times are tight right now. I get so discouraged with my body and my image, and I'm sick of it. I want to lose the weight and be in better shape and healthier while I'm young, I'm only 24 and my mom even said try and lose it now when your young because it's only going to get harder, which I believe is definitely true.
Does anybody know of any foods that actually help burn fat and exercises that will help, I know cardio/running but I'm a bad runner now a days since I haven't ran well in years, when I played sports I was use too it but now I'm not. I figured I'd post something on here and see what everyone had to say.

...hi marie!...i would like to congratulate for your interest in losing your weight and i want you to keep the eagerness, you need that for the entire lose weight regiment that you gonna do, the key for lose weight to be effective is discipline...i got lots of friends with the same interest but they are not successful co'z they don't have self discipline to control their cravings....second, you need to watch your diet, you should strict about this, gradually decrease the servings per meal of carbs, calories and fats and back it up with cardio exercise, start it with 10-15mins then gradually increase to keep your fat burning zone, you can also yous diet pills to facilate your weight lose or better yet use slimming tea with senna, shiu sen tea and malvae, but use it in minimal...
