I must admit I am not a big fruit and veg eater, but I do try and eat 5 portions a day and I always ensure my kids do. I cut bananas up on their cereal, they have a piece of fruit as a snack around 11am, they have a drink of pure fruit juice once a day and they always have two veg with their main meal.
I find this easy to stick to for my kids and its not expensive either, I paid 6p for a banana the other day. But I do find it harder to stick to the routine myself as I am not a big fruit and veg fan

Although you are not a big fan of fruit and vegetables, but obviously you had done your best to balance up the diet of yourself and your family. I like fruit and vegetables. Most of the time, I try my best to eat more fruits and vegetables. However, there are times when I went out for lunch or dinner with friends, I have to take meat because the restaurant that we visited are not selling fruits or vegetables.

That's right. Parents are the best example for kids. It's much more effective to educate the youngsters by practicing what we preach. Recently, I not only keen on taking more fruits and vegetables. On top of that, I am looking for food that suits our blood type. It's because our body function much better when we take food that is suitable. My blood type is O. So, the food that is suitable to me are rice, pumpkin, pears, cherry, grapes and watermelon & etc. More importantly, I prefer organically produced crops which are free from pesticides and chemical fertilizers.

I wouldn't say I always eat enough myself. I am not keen on a lot of fruit and veg. But I always make sure my kids do get enough. I feel it is so important to show them the right way to eat at a young age, but I also feel I should be leading by example and I don't really as much as I should

i eat more than 5 times a day. besides my regular meal i do eat snacks. i snack on fruit though. not too much on junk foods. anyways, besides that i like to drink juices. i am fat actually. i hope i don't get fat any more specially this halloween when i could not do any thing but stays at home. i try to avoid oily foods but i am still worried getting fat cause i eat lots of white rice lately. i like veggies too. mostly i eat veggies and fish. i don't eat meats at all. except for chicken but not fried. mostly grilled chicken or boiled or something.

When my kids come home from school I have snacks ready for them as they are always hungry. But the snacks I put out are things like celery and carrot sticks, apple cut into slices, that kind of thing. It gives them everything they need. It fills them enough until dinner time, gives them the energy to do their homework or go and play with their friends and I know they are eating healthily and not over doing it on fatty processed foods.
I don't ban crisps (potato chips) or sweets completely, but I do limit the amount they are allowed.
Though my daughter had a mediacal done recently and she was nearly classed as overweight I feel it is muscle rather than fat that has put her at that weight as she is slim but very athletic and muscle is heavier than fat.

that is nice that your children are eating healthy. when i was a kid i don't eat much veggies and fruit specially it is quite expensive here in my place. but since i am adult and i have knowledge what is good for me i do try to make effort to eat healthy. but i don't feel that i will get slim just because i eat healthy. i still eat too much though so i may not slim down any time soon.

Well, I do not count my fruit and vegetable portions on a day. Yet, I do try to eat fresh fruits and veggies like Carrots,Apples,Pears,Bananas and more. I feel fresh when I regularly eat these.

I was a big fruit and vegs eater, cut up the bananas like you do, and eating my apples, pears and more. A fitness friend of mine, turn me unto a juice with 19 power-packed super-fruits for health and energizing. I find that drinking this juice, that it was very energizing and help me lot over the two years of using it.
He told me that drinking the juices work faster than eating individual fruits and vegs. If you like to know the name of the juice, let me know.
Yes, I am still drinking it.
