It is not yet 5 pm here, the time the youngest trick-or-treaters venture out, so it's hard to tell yet. The number usually stays steady year to year, even those times like tonight...a cold, windy, rainy Halloween. Not much keeps kids down :))) Karen

They're just starting now to go out here. But it's so windy here and threatening to rain they may stay home. Especially with the flu going around, parents might be apprehensive about taking their kiddies door to door.

It's another hour before ours start, it's only 5pm here and it's from 6-8pm. I think there will be at least as many as last year when I ran out of candy! It's such fun for me to give out the treats, I love seeing all the kids enjoying themselves.

I am not sure if there were more in our town. I did not went trick or treating with my kids at all. i just let my son have his halloween fun party at school. Last year, a 12 year old boy was shot in cold blood. And from that, I told my kids that I was not going to go trick or treating. I was not going to take them. I was too scared.. Although, that killer was caught and is behind bars, I still did not want to risk what may happen on that day to come. If there were many people going, I would not know. No one knocked on our door for candy either. I did not take my kids last year or this year. The last time that they went was in 2007.

That is dreadful that a child got shot, like you say there could be other people that could kill as well as this person who is now in prison.I do not blame you for not wanting to go out trick or treating.I think that i would have not have taken mine or let mine go with anyone either.

Hi jugsjugs, Trick or treat time is just starting now where I live, and we've only had one person as yet. The weather isn't the best but I think we will get the usual number and maybe even a few more. I haven't noticed as many decorations as last year, I wonder if it's because of the recession and if so, what effect will it have on Christmas? Blessings.

I think you are right about the recession, perhaps thats why there were so many children about as they have not had many treats as their parents can not afford them as much this year.

In my community we did not have any trick or treaters this year. And we didn't have any last year either. They have trunk or treat at the local churches and that keeps the kids from going door to door. They go from car trunk to car trunk to trick or treat. We carried my grand daughter to a few houses so she could actually trick or treat door to door like it used to be. Happy Mylotting

Trick ot Trat was last night here too. Our citizens started a safe trick or treat at the local community center and everyone sent out flyers and announced it on the radio so that the kids could just make one stop and trick or treat in a safe envioronment. We had an awesome turnout. We ended up with 200 (that was as close of a count as we could get) which is a lot for our small town. It was fun seeing all the little ones dressed up though. The only rule we stipulated was that they had to be under 13 years old. We have some overly active teeneagers in the area so we thought it wise to put a age limit on it. We had a blast though!

We will not have any, we live in such a rural area, with not many neighbors. They usually just have parties, and trick or treating at the mall for the kids. Houses are too far apart for them to be out going house to house.

I did not see any trick or treaters on our street this year. Many schools have Halloween parties and the kids go to them.

well I don't celebrate it or support it so I can't tell you. I don't find it spiritual to support it.

It is still a little too early here in Florida for trick or treaters. I figure there will be a lot out as usual. Very nice weather out tonight for this occasion, nice cool weather and not a drop of rain visible. =]

It is just a bit cold here not too bad,so perhaps that is why there have been soo many about tonight.

I wouldn't know. The road my husband, myself and his parents live off of does not get trick or treaters as it's a dirt road with not many lights... We live across from a farm. We did go to a friend's house and he had trick or treaters, but I can't say whether their were more or less.

It is Sunday afternoon now and Halloween is over. Last night my daughter was the only one who was trick or treating! The same happened last year. We used to have quite a few kids who used to come knocking but I think they have outgrown the trick or treating thing so, sadly no one came to our door! My daughter did well on her travels though!

Well, I actually took the children out trick or treating and my judgement from that would be that there were fewer trick or treaters. However, when I talked to my mother about it, she said that there were far more trick or treaters about this year. She stayed home and passed out the candy. I think that the reason that I felt there were fewer trick or treaters was because I didn't see nearly as many big groups of children and their parents out and about this year. Or else it could be that they extended our trick or treating time this year to three hours because our college football team had a huge home football game last night and a lot of people complained about trick or treat being at the same time as the football game.
