Disney movies - are you ever too old?

October 31, 2009 6:03pm CST
I just watched a Walt Disney movie and my husband rolled him eyes and said I'd surely be too old to watch and enjoy this kind of movies. I disagree - I don't think you are ever too old to enjoy some harmless, cute fantasy. A feel-good movie which is so far away from real life that it just makes you happy. What do you think?

Maybe your Husband was in plain bad mood when he said this. I am sure, no one stops liking Walt Disney movies. Have you the 1967 movie "The Absent Minded Professor". I just watched recently with my kids and I was the one enjoying the movie more than him.

This movie was remade later with Robbie Williams in the lead and the movie was named "Flubber". I hope this rings a bell. I hope by now that you have watched "The Absent Minded Professor".

He is not really into the "cute" stuff. I'll just watch it on my own! No, I haven't seen "The Absent Minded Professor". I'll look out for it though.

I don't think anyone is ever too old too enjoy a Disney movie and appreciate it for what it is. Disney is magical for kids and adults and for adults brings them back too their childhood. Disney movies are something the while family can enjoy and will for many years to come.

My point exactly. Disney movies jsut have a feel-good factor about them. So why not step back in time and be a child again.

I'm still not too old for Disney movies. But I guess I have already outgrown certain cartoons such as Micke Mouse and the gang. I still go for human and animated Disneys though.

I'm 54 years old and I love Disney movies, even the animated ones. You say Disney and a lot of people think of the old movies like 101 Dalmatians, Fantasia and Snow White but there are a lot of modern movies that people wouldn't realize are actually made by Disney, like the National Treasure and Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Both of them fabulous fun and very entertaining movies. I might just be a big kid at heart but I get a real kick out of the new animated films too, whether they are Disney, Dreamworks or whatever. Some of my favorites are Over the Hedge, Toy Story, Robots, Monsters,Inc., Kung Fu Panda, Ice Age, Shreck, Wall-E and others. These movies are great fun and I love to see the computer generated graphics and amazing animation capabilities they have today. I think they have universal appeal and can be enjoyed by adults as well as kids. You just have to have a tiny bit of kid still left in ya. [;-)

I'll have to tell my husband then to remember the kid in his heart! There are so many fun movies - you are absolutely right.

Oh my..I've got two little girls. Disney movies are a staple in my home. I love disney movies and I don't think you are ever too old. That's like saying your too old to laugh at a joke. I don't think there has been a day in the past 2 years that I haven't seen some type of disney movie or closely related. Even if it meant watching it over and over again. I'm a personal fan of The Little Mermaid. And anything with music in it. It's great to feel young again at any age. The truth lies in the eyes of a child and children love animated movies!:P

With little kids you probably don't have a choice. But that doesn't matter if you enjoy it yourself! Good point, the music is probably what makes you feel so good about the films.

I guess a lot of adults love watching the films, but feel they need to watch it with a kid as an excuse. But whilst it is great for the family, they are also great for the grown up kids. Thanks!

I don't think that you're too old to watch disney movies. I'm 22 and I still enjoy watching disney movies. I have so much fun watching disney movies. I don't think that disney movies are specifically for young kids. I think that Disney are trying to make movies that kids and adults can enjoy.

I have always enjoyed Disney films since I was a child, I am in my early 40's npw. I do not think you can outgrow Disney as nowadays they are putting out non-cartoony type movies. The new "A Christmas Carol" movie that is being done by Disney and is in 3-D. I have seen previews and it looks like it is well done.

I haven't heard of that one yet, but I'll keep my eyes open.

i guess anyone's never too old for disney. It doesn't hurt to be a child yet again. No one is too old for Cinderella. We all have our Cinderella story hidden within us and who knows there is a prince charming in our once upon a time.

I guess every little girl dreams of being cinderella with prince charming coming along. You are right - there is nothing wrong with dreaming.

I am and never will be too old to watch disney movies. I collected most of my favorites but sadly they were all washed out after being flooded last year. Anyhow, I am so in love with all the characters and the perfect script that makes up the whole story. I even wished to be like Mulan when I was a kid while singing Reflection. =0
