What would be your dream job and why?

I remember reading an article on the best job in the world, which involved living on a paradise island, hot, sun and sea. And just taking in the post and looking after pet turtles or something for some person. But I don't think I would particular like the job. I would get bored and I would miss my family and friends.
Plus I would feel I hadn't done anything worthwhile with my life. Personally my dream job would be to be a teacher and I intend on achieving this within the next few years, I believe it would bring a real sense of achievement to have a substantial imput into the future generation and their education. To me it would make me feel I was contributing something positive to the world.
I know I could get the same feeling by becoming a nurse or doctor, but to be honest I am extremely squemish and though I have respect for carers and doctors I couldn't do this job myself.
So next year I am beginning training to do something worthwhile and achieve my dream job. Whats yours and are you going to strive to achieve it?

My hubby has a couple of friends who are promoters so I know a little but its limited what I know. He has made some music which went on to be heard in top London clubs, he sold a few CDs in the clubs, but it was a hobby and he didn't pursue it. It is quite a difficult industry to get into but I wish you all the best

Good luck and keep working on it. See if you can get in touch with promoters that can put your music about in different places to get it heard. But ensure you have it copyrighted or whatever. Wish you the best, and thanks for replying.

I worked thirty years of my life for organizations. They were the prime part of me. Looking back, I wish I had started businesses of my own earlier. I have seen many successful people my age because they started into businesses earlier than I did.
Still it is never too late. Two years have came and gone and I am already into business. Getting a job is good as it may offer you job security. I don't know anything that is called a dream job. The more your employer gives you, the more they will expect from you.

Well maybe being your own boss is your dream job? As you have no one to pressurise you other than yourself.

I wish you all the best Skyeblue. Teaching is one of the noble profession and what can be more fulfilling for a person that to be able to touch people's lives and actively contribute in shaping their future. May you succeed in your dreams.
When I was employed years back, I wished I could turn my hobby into a permanent job so I won't look at it as a heavy burden and something I would always look forward to. This is what I am doing now and I love every moment of it. I am in a modular furniture business.

Thanks for the response. I will keep working towards it, I will get there one day. Its great you are doing something you love. My dad made a job out of his hobby. He made models out of wood not sure what the title of his job would be, but he makes things like dolls houses, clocks, ride on wooden buses and things like that, he loves doing it. I loved him doing it as a kid because he built me a wonderful dolls house. He also built me a farm and my brother a bus and a garage he could play with toy cars.

That is absolutely wonderful. I wish you luck. My dream job was to become a doctor, but I blew my chance to do that and without much thought to what I really wanted, went on to do something I may always love second.

You say you blew your chances, but can you not access adult training courses and still fulfill your dream? I blew my chances as I failed badly at school due to difficult family circumstances at the time, but I have gone on and paid for training. I know its expensive but it is worth it in the long run.

hmm if you no good at soccor then I guess you will have to pursue something different. But if you learn all the tactics and stuff there is no reason why you couldn't be a coach, you could start with young students and work up?

I read about that dream job you wrote about. I think it was on Hamilton Island in Queensland in Australia. It would have involved living on the tropical island and caring for the environment and its animals.
I am a primary school teacher in my home country. My ideal job would be a teaching English as a foreign language job in ten different countries. Then I could enjoy living overseas and have work permits to teach.

Yes that was the job I was writing about, I just couldn't remember the name of the Island.
I have a friend who teaches abroad. She has taught in Germany, Japan, China, Malaysia, turkey and currently she is in South Korea teaching. She absolutely loves her job. As you are already a teacher I am guessing your dream job is in reach for you

Sounds good. But that wouldn't be for me. Everyone has their own thing I guess, though I want to teach, I want to teach much younger students. I am going to aim to teach in a primary school. Good luck with your goal. Thanks for replying

When it comes to the dream jobs, I guess that different people have different ideas
If I have any chances to choose my own career, I really want to get into writing articles and want to be published in magazines.
Perhaps most people want to have a steady job with good payment, humanistic vocation, and social respects, but I prefer a free job and a simple life. If I can meet some chances in the future, I will choose to start my career as a Freelance Writer, which is my dream. In order to make it come true, I am trying my best and spare no efforts to reach my goal.

I wish you the best of luck. I wanted to write as a child. I was very good at making up stories. But it doesn't appeal to me quite as much now. I keep thinking one day I might try and write some short stories and see if they go anywhere.
As I stated on a previous post I am mildly autistic and though I find writing a good way to unwind, I get easily distracted and get bored with the task after a while. I will start a very good story only to stop a third of the way through and it will never get finished.
I am hoping this won't become to much of an obsticle when I start my training next year, but I am determined it won't.

Hi! I want to work as translator and that is my dream job. I have studied German at the High school and now I'm a teacher in German, which is also good, but the translator job is the best one for me.

That is something I would love to be able to do, but do not stand a chance of being able to do it. Languages are my weakest point. I have tried many times to learn other languages but failed. I guess we all have our weaknesses and strong points. Good luck with your dream

I've always really enjoyed writing and the feeling you get from creating a really good story.
I want to be a journalist but with the current climate, the lack of jobs and the need for so many qualifications and training it seems to be a even harder world to break into.! Maybe one day ..

I would love to do a job the combined cooking and teaching. I love to cook and I love to teach. My absalute dream job would be to be a cooking show host on a Foodnetwork show. I have no fear of public speaking so it would be a good job for me, and of course there is a little fame associated with it too. So my dream job would be to host a cooking show on the Food Network.

My dream job would be to be an entrepreneur since it will give more space to do what I want to do without following standard policies from bosses and will have my own time plan to follow that will either dictate my success and failure as a person, personally and professionally.
I especially want to have my own farm and beach resort since I enjoy being close to nature ever since I was a kid.
I would definitely aim to achieve this goal of being a financially free person by venturing into some businesses, taking calculated risks along the way and with the help of God, I know that I will become what I want to be and be happy doing what I really wanted to do all my life.
Being an employee for a capitalist/ corporation is quite boring for me nowadays.

My dream job would be a very simple one. I would love to get paid for doing absolutely nothing. That would be the ultimate. No money worries and nothing but time to do everything else I want in life. What could be better than that? I know. Everybody else would be in line for this job too.

I totally condemn about the discussion in tne top because every one in the world should have a dream job so that they get focussed towards that job as their goal .having a dream job induces a sort of high energy in the human beings to strive and work hard . and my dream job is to be as a co scientist with prof.abdul kalam.the reason is that i aspired from dr.Abdul kalam in all for my future .
