My friends know I love my Scamp, but DARN it!
He has a bad habit of walking around my face when I start waking up during the night.
Well, Saturday morning about 4 a.m. he did it and, clumsy cat that he is, he stepped on my face.
He caught my lower lip with a back nail.
Suddenly I'm awake.
I reach up and feel the blood coming out of my lip.
I have to get up and wash the wound with soap and water. Then I took a piece of paper and blotted it until it stopped bleeding.
Oliver came up and cuddled in my arms while I was waiting for it to stop bleeding.
I have to say that Scamp didn't walk around my head the rest of the night or last night either.
boy it does hurt tho
your cats ever hurt you by accident?

I bet that Hurt I know when I had my Cats and they would accidentally scratch it really hurt
I have to say they never used to walk over my Face but they did like to curl up at the top of my Head
I would panic if they would have done that as I can not stand anything on my Face

Scamp really isn't the brightest cat I've ever had. Heck, he isn't all the "sweet" either, but I love him. I've now had him 11 years and its almost been 12 years since my friend rescued him. He's one that would've gone feral in a hurry, in fact, he might've been borderline feral anyway.

My late cat, Lightning, was a blessing for us when my daughter was an infant. We seldom heard her through the monitor while sleeping but Lightning would come wake us up whenever she started crying or even whimpering. Many a time I've gone into her room to find him laying next to her in the crib purring her back to sleep or making sure she doesn't hurt herself. He was her protector!

Banjo has jumped up to me while I'm standing a few times lately...he will be walking around my legs and rubbing then all of a sudden he leaps up - claws extended to grab on. It hurts! I wish I knew why he does that. He normally rubs the dog but rarely me, in these cases the rubbing is really excessive.
Lucy dog has scratched my arm several times as we played, I have scars on my arms...my skin is thinning...lol.
My goat Pickles is very playful too and uses his horns...I've sported many really huge colourful bruises. It's his method of play but I don't think he is being deliberately aggressive. I hope not anyway.

my black cat got me good the one time unintentionally-he was being held and somebody rang the doorbell.insta-shred.
poor kitty is terrified of it for some odd reason.
must be the sudden noise from nowhere factor.

Your report of Scamp walking around and on your face during the night is the very reason that our cat gets locked out of the bedroom at night. Yes, he has accidentally hurt each of us. He frequently gets too rambunctious when playing and will bring blood. He is a very affectionate cat and likes to give love bites. My husband and I are elderly and our skin is thin and easily torn. Because of this, our cat will somwtimes bring blood when he is trying to be loving.

On the other hand, does he get outside the door and cry until you let him in? That's what Scamp is known to do if he's locked out. And since he's part Siamese he has been known to wake up the whole house and have the neighbor coming over to find out what was wrong the next day! He doesn't love bite, but this stomping around my face has been going on for quite a while, but since he hurt me, its stopped - at least for the time being!

Our cat, Sleepy, will sometimes sit outside the bedroom door and cry when he is locked out. His cry is not loud, though, and he will hush after a while, if he doesn't get let in. I know what you mean about the Siamese cats. They are very vocal. We had a half Siamese cat once. I enjoyed carrying on conversations with her, but she drove my husband nuts.

That is one reason I dont have cats. Of course since I am living back and forth between my two daughters they both have dogs and cats. But they don't go into the bedrooms.

My herd have a tendency to lay in my lap and fall deep asleep. Then some noise startles them and they jump straight up and lay tracks down my thighs! I look like I got caught in a bramble patch!
My black outside cat is the one to be careful of. When I hang laundry out he will lay on my feet and as sure as God made little green apples I'll trip over him. He also has the habit of walking between my feet...It makes me look like a duck when I walk down the driveway.
I hope you're lip is doing better, and I am sure you know to keep a whether eye on it for infections as unfortunately cats claws aren't too clean. But if it bleed well you don't have too much to worry about.
Hug Scamp for us, poor baby has to feel awful for hurting mummy.

Lord knows I wade thru the cats all the time. I've certainly been the cat's launch pad many times.
I'm using Carmex to keep the sore moist. I do think he knows he's in my bad graces, but I'd bet he's clueless as to why - he's pretty clueless at best.

They have by accident or as self defense more so. I accidentally stepped on a cats tail on my anti-social one to boot and she wrapped her claws around my ankle and gave me a few good scratches. Boy did that hurt!
Is your lip doing better?

Jason likes to come and sleep on me at night. One night he was sleeping on my chest, we were both totally out, and there was a loud noise. He woke up, panicked and ran for it. Let's just say that the scratches left little scars on my chest!

my cat always touching me with his paw, and his nail touches my skin. it barely hurts. it rarely bleeds. even if it bleeds, i just wipe it and let it dry. i just tell him not to touch me, as if he understands what i just said. but they dont do it on purpose. they are animals, and they touch you to get attention. if i am not paying attention to him, my cat taps me with his paw a couple of times to tell me to look at him. he is trying to tell me something.

Ouch! My bed sits under a window which my cat likes to use to view the yard (guard cat doncha know). She has left tracks on my forehead jumping into the window or out of it. She's usually very sorry and sleeps the rest of the night at the foot of the bed or in the living room if the weather's warm, but that only lasts a day or two, then she's back at it again.

Yeah, I used to have a cat that used me as the highway to the window and now the roomie has cats passing thru her bed to the front window, but at least they pretty much stay on the edge because that's the only part available...
When when they did, a few found themselves "launched" because they got me - back when I was younger and stronger...

I find it amazing that Cats know exactly when to jump all over your body, when we are asleep. If I am lying in bed awake, my Pooh will jump on the side of the bed that I don't occupy, and just stare at me, and sometimes meow endlessly. But when I am asleep and he has run out of food, he literrally nudges my hand, and if I don't reciprocate, he proceeds to walk all over my stomach, chest, and even my head. He knows that in the middle of the night, I am not going to get up, so I find it humorous, that he continues to think I will, after his hundreds of attempts to make me. He usually gives up quite fast..only to come back within 15 minutes to try again. It usually after his 3rd attempt, that he stops.

Ooh, ouch that does sound like it hurted. My cat Alexia, when you cuddle her or carry her, she will dig her nails into your shoulder or anywhere else. You have to cry out ouch and she will remove her nails. She knows what ouch means. But yeah that's about it.

hi ElicBxn oh my that brings back memories of my black cat
Midnight. He would do that too only he was so careful. He
never snagged me but he would pat my lips and keep patting'
until I would open my eyes. then he would sit on my chest
and purr like a plump black motor boat. I never did know
how he kept from snagging my lips.wow that really must have
hurt as there are so many nerves in your face anyway. I had
always marveled at Midnight as his paw was like a feather
touching my lips. how could he not snag me, it was a wonder
to me. I think some cats will watch the movement of your eyes and lips while you are sleeping. odd funny little creatures, our cats.

Hi Elic,
My cats don't come to my bed anymore as one of them sleeps downstaires on the settee and the other one sleeps in the spare room/hubby's computer room so I get some peace, but once when I was doing my floor strecthing ecercises, Tom thought I was playing with him and hanked my arms with his teeth, he bit right into my flesh and it needed stitches, but I was a coward and didn't got to the hostital, so two years later I have got a scare to remember him by, lol!

ouch, I've had a few scars from the cats, Nino left me some on the back of my hand, but since it was already scarred up from the glass door you can't see the bites. Honestly he sent me to the hospital - because other medical clinics aren't open at 6 a.m. on Sunday.

oh yea, LOTS of times. The worst was while I was sleeping and 2 cats were fighting- chasing each other and they decided to run over my head! So one of them end up pushing off in the middle of his stride from the bridge of my nose! I had a long deep scratch going across my nose. I had to put a bandage on it and looked like a dork for days.. lol
Also had dogs (on leash) run me into a tree and into the screen door both leaving nasty open wounds on my knuckles. I have been accidentally bitten too but thank god not too bad. My girlfriend on the other hand had teeth go through the top(thru fingernail) and bottom of her finger trying to help me break up a dog fight in the house.
I have more scars than I dare count and many have come from my pets.. I don't care really.. just the price I pay.
ps. I have had the claw thru the lip lots -it is pretty sore- brings water to your eyes..

YIKES!
I guess I work pretty hard when they are young to keep them off my head, but I've certainly gotten a few facial scratches from fights, tho the bad scratch on my nose came from a non-pet related fall.
I've also had a few previous lip scratches, but this is over half an inch long and is the worst in a long time, actually, the worst pet related wound to my lip.
I did have a cat fight that left an almost 2 inch scratch on my cheek and one that left me with a cat bite on my hand.
That wasn't a good day because I was already in communication with my doctor because of a migraine, so I was about to go to the hospital for that anyway!

The only time a cat ever scratch me was when I was 9 years old and I tried to give mine a bath and the first time I realized not all cats like water. Needless to say I'll never did that again. So now the only cat I have is an outdoor cat. I've had too many incidents like using you couch for a scratching post, or your curtains as a play toy or jumping on your table when you're trying to eat. Sorry don't get me wrong but to have one jump on my face in the middle of the night would give me nightmares. Plus I live in the country so my cat keeps the mice, gofers, and other bugs out of our house and yard.

Hi ElicBxn,
When Wilde was a kitten he had a thing for curtains like many do, this little guy was like spider-man lol.
Once time he was half way up the curtains and I went to get him down and the whole curtain rail came down om my head lol. Nice little bump on the noggin from that one.
I don't blame him though, I blame my shoddy workmanship for not putting up the curtain rail securely, at least I learned something from it
