Today most people use their mobile to browse. So I was wondering whether myLot should also create a mobile compatible site so that many users can do myLotting even on the move. It is possible to use myLot in mobile now[ by using browser applications like opera mini] but as it has a lots of pictures and is a very big site, it takes a lot of time to load. And also if you network signal is low you might end up in double posting.
It would be better if a myLot mobile version could be created. Whats your opinion?

Hello, cuteafsal! Well, users can login and post using their mobile phone. But due to heavy script, some built-in browsers on phone cannot support ('xml parsing failed' will appear). To solve that, you must download some java applications such as opera mini, ucweb, bolt, teashark and other browsers. You can use any of them but I suggest you to use opera mini (either version 4.2 or 5 will do good) because of its desktop view and on version 5, you can open multiple tabs and copy/paste. Have a nice day!

Anyway, that would be a good idea if there is a mobile version, a lighter script (similar to mobile friendster and facebook) so phones that do not support java can access it using their built-in browsers. In that way, users who have phones with low memory can also enjoy posting without encountering the problem 'memory full' or 'file too large to be loaded'. It would be nice when there is a compressed version of it.

Yes I guess it is a good idea. I know facebook has released their mobile version and blackberry version. It is very light version where we can see our friends' comments and add comment of ourselves through our phone or blackberry. Yahoo Messenger also has a blackberry version too. Very light and perfect to be used on blackberry.
Surely, if mylot can create the same mobile version, it will be great. Is it possible? I mean, mylot has some heavy script on the website. They need to redesign the entire website in order to create a lighter version. Anyway, who knows...

Hi cuteafsal
Well a mobile version of mylot, hmm... it would be quite inconvenient don't you think, most of the responses will be short and probably would take a long time typing that as well, it would not be that useful in my opinion but yeah if you just want to respond to people who are replied to you and all then it could be fine, but starting a discussion and responding to other's will get a little more harder, a mobile site in the sense i am presuming you are talking about a 'wapsite' ... hmm yeah well even orkut has a wapsite, and when ever someone uses it, it shows a small tag below each scrap 'sent from orkut mobile'.. so if mylot does introduce something like that then they should put such tags if we are using the wapsite because other users here should know you are logging in from a mobile phone and not the original website, it will quite interesting that way actually.. but still i don't think these guys here will try to put up a wapsite version of this website... the only thing good about the wapsite would be that wherever you are you can stay in touch with your friends and respond to your responders, other than that it could be a little more uncomfortable.

Hi voldrox
Yeah.. you do have a point, that it might make the replies shorter and I even fear that people would start using sms short languages.. like 'u' instead of 'you' and '4' instead of 'for' and so on. Ofcourse it would be bad. But still there are people who make use the 'Dictionary' function in their mobile while typing [i myself a pro in it] and for them typing a long reply would be much easier on the small keypads than doing it on a the keyboard.

you should try apple iphone or blackberry. it is enjoyable especially if you are using wifi to connect so that lag time is decreased. but you have to be adept at palm phones to appreciate internet browsing on it.

I think it would be a good idea to create a mobile version. that way people can use the site when they are away from a computer.

I can access mylot from my phone and also from the ipod touch. I have posted from the ipod touch, but I only did that one time, as it took me way to long and I couldn't get it to post like it should. I was twiddling my thumbs trying to get it posted. If I ever am away from my computer and I do need to get on mylot, then I can do it from my phone, which I do take with me whereever I go. It is harder on the cll phone to get the pages to load properly, so it will be hard to post from my phone. I do prefer the computer, that is for sure. good luck to you and happy mylotting.

having a mobile version for mylot would be awesome. I am a guy who use net via mobile phones to a large extent so if i get access to mylot via a wap site that would really make me use mylot anytime i want and I myself would increase the usuage of mylot a lot. I guess having a mobile version will also mace make our usuage fast and frequent as its not possible to access the computer whenever or wherever i want. so yes, lets hope we have a mobile version of mylot soon and also find ways of requesting the concerned authorities for a mobile version
