In my C drive two folders with the name , 637c1166bfb18d42da1dca41 and e493765188348a8534e0d3242d are avaialble and I don't know how it came there. I am sure, it is not created by us. I suspect that they might be created by some virus. I am not able to delete them..If we try to delethe these folders, I used to get the message of "can not delete .dll. access denied" . What are these folders and how to delete them? How they are affecting our system if they were created by the virus?

hello ...
while some weird folders are mostly created by malwares, they are rarely of this format.
this looks more like a backup to a restore point from a software update. even the Windows Service pack creates some folders similar to this to keep the previous system backup or the decompressed updated files.
still i would recommend a full anti-virus scan, but do not care about them if they are not causing any harm.
if they are from a recent updates or backup, you may find a way removing them straight from the add/remove programs in the control panel.
cheers!

These folders are not of any harm visible to us..If they are some spy-ware programs, then it will be end in problem. As I am active in many on line sites and also I will check the accounts of my payment processors like Alert Pay and Pay-pal, these programs may collect the details about my account..Only for this reason I want to delete them. But after the deletion of the files inside the folder, they are coming back to their original location. This is causing me too sad . Because only virus programs will do like this in most of the cases. Also I scanned with AVG anti virus software once..Nothing is found in the system..Now I have decided to install another software to remove the mal ware or threat from my system if available. Thanks for your valuable suggestion.

Maybe, you can try scanning with the updated version of Kaspersky Lab antivirus or Quick Heal Internet Security which is being used by many now-a-days. Also, I recommend that you should do a rescue disk scan which would be more helpful in detecting viruses!!

That folder is really coming from unknown system, my friend. Because if you notice before when your computer had a fresh install of windows that folder is not their unless you create them...But if that folder has no files that is familiar to you. I'm sure that is a virus created folder...You cannot just delete those files because the main files is in the program.
I don't if you familiar with your computer program and files in it. If you familiar of the folder in the program files you can delete that but if not don't just delete it for not affecting the operation of your computer...just scan your computer for possible viruses...
Use Avira anti virus to eliminate virus in your computer...Have a nice day!

If you found those folder inside your document. I think they are not in system32 of your operating system. Just look for another folder in program files to make sure if they are the same in format. Because there are folder also in programs that is duplicating folders...

I scanned with two anti virus software programs. But no anti virus software is identifying any virus or threat in these folders. I have even selected these two folders and scanned them.Nothing was found. But the files inside these folders seems to the files related to the system files which will be required to install the operating system(i 386)...That's why I am not able to delete them also, it seems. But these folders have been created only after few days after I formatted the system. But I am not sure of the program installed when these folders created..I used to install some applications and will uninstall them very soon..During this process, these folders might have been created..Any way thank for your response to this issue.

i would first ask u if u r experiencing and post virus symptoms like many processes are running without u know what they are or if ur pc restarts suddenly or when u start ur pc u get a error message like ".dll file not found" or corrupted.if u r not experiencing any symptoms of a virus then u dont have to worry. just start ur pc in safe mode and scan the whole disc.
many a times due to improper shutdown of pc some files are stored as logs and usually named like these.i would suggest that u dont try to delete it . me be it is a system file . if it is so then it can harm ur pc if u delete it.
also u can use ccleaner.exe to be safe .

dude if ur safe mode is not working the first thing i will tell u that u are having a big problem .
let us not panic. first i would like to know which OS u are using . if it is winXP then download the patches for that .there are 5 patches for winXP u can get them from net .they solve have the problems. the ".dll"problem is also solved by this . first do this . after all the patches are downloaded then try running in safe mode .if it still doesnt work i would strongly suggest u to format the drive in which ur OS in installed and reinstall the OS again.u must do this . as the pc is not working in safe mode there are high chances that pc is either infected with virus or ur OS is corrupted.both the cases at this stage need reinstalling of the OS .hope u get through this . ask if there is any problem .i will be there to help u

hi there,, first of all, what operating system are you using?,, windows xp?,, if it is xp,, what service pack?,, because other service pack do have -637c1166bfb18d42da1dca41- this kind of folders with that kind of file names in the c drive.. if you are suspecting that it is a virus, be sure first that your antivirus is always up to date,, that is also true that going into safe mode may delete that folder but it's too risky to do so, well if you delete a *.dll file might cause your computer not to work. The best option is to have an up to date antivirus and start a system scan and you might want also to download spybot to scan and to protect your computer from malware and spywares...

I have installed the windows xp with service pack 3 in my system. My anti virus software is AVG, and I am regularly updating it.I scanned with the AV software, and my anti virus software is not able to identify anything in that folder. Also I am not able to bring my system to the safe mode,If I try for that, then a list of missing .dll files are running and the system is restarting without starting in the safe more. Some times, a blue screen with some codes are displaying as like 'unexpected error occured'. Even then, the system is working , but slowly than normally it used to work..But this slow is negligible and it will take few minutes to start the system. After the start of the system, it is working well..Anyway, I need to delete these folders if they are harmful to the system. Thanks for your response to this issue.

you've mentioned that you're encountering a blue screen on your computer, you're probably having a problem with your memory module, cleaning the memory might solve your issue... one thing also i don't recommend using avg, i recommend avast! pro or avast! home, and also to get rid of computer lock ups and slow performance, try installing "Ccleaner" herehttp://www.filehippo.com/, some tools are also available there,

I didn't have the exact name folders that you have. But I had folders that were similar to those and they ended up being a log that was kept by other software on the computer. Do you have any anti virus on your computer or malware or adware identifying programs. Now, that I think about it, my folders that were similar was from a firewall program. And do be careful with deleting dll's as they can mess up your windows program on your hard drive. One thing you can do is to view the properties of the folders and see when they were created and last accessed and try to determine if there were any changes done to your computer ...like adding software. I hope that helps. And if you don't have anti virus or spyware blocker programs, I will tell you two good ones that are free. That is, if it isn't against site policy to do so.

Just now I checked the properties of the folder..they have been created exactly a month back..I formatted the system, more than 2 months back..But meanwhile I have installed and removed many programs in the system and I am not sure of the date of installation of such programs.I have installed the AVG anti virus software and I am updating it regularly without fail..On the scanning, it found nothing.I scanned the two folders particularly thrice. Nothing is identified as threat in the folders. We can give the programs name or the link in mylot, if it is about some software and this is within our terms..Only thing we need to follow is that we should not place any referral link of our money making programs here to get referrals..Thanks for your response.

knrsekar ... Panda cloud and threatfire are the two programs that I have working together as my antivirus programs. And they both do a good job and have stopped a few attacks and best of all they are free. I've used AVG before and I do prefer the ones that I have now over that one. I'm not saying anything at all bad about AVG, it is good as well, but it seems that Windows load up happens faster and that data is transferred a little quicker. For a firewall, I use PCTools Firewall plus. I like it better than Zone Alarm as I had more control over the program, but Zone Alarm isn't bad. I always have liked superantispyware the best of the ones that I have used. I hope that you get your problem taken care of very soon.

I suspect that these are file allocation table folders created by improper PC shutdown. These are file allocation tables, but I still suspect it. It happened to me once when suddenly a black out happened while my external device is plugged. When the electricity has gone back, windows offered to have my EHD scanned, but I refused until i saw such folders in it.
To resolve that, I just scanned my EHD with Tune-up Utility Disk Doctor. Then, it was gone.

I have shut down the system many times for various reasons. When the system is hanging for a long time, I used to shut down forcibly many times..If the folders are like just the log files, then there will not be any problem and we can leave them as such..But it should be confirmed..My only expectation is that there should not be any spyware programs inside the computer..I have installed the anti virus software and also I am regularly updating them.My AV is not identifying anything..Now I am going to install some other anti virus software and after scanning, if nothing is identified, I need to format the system soon..I don't like to take risk in this issue. Thanks for your response.

I have had the same thing happen. They seem to be there from some software installation you may have made.
I took the chance and move them over to my D: drive so that if things went crazy I could move them back. All went well and it did not effect anything.
Please be sure that what ever you do that you know how to do a system recovery. That would be one of those "just in case" things.
In my case they were not part of the operating system so the risk was minimal.
If you can somehow tie them back to a program you installed you will have your answer.
If you choose to move them and something goes wrong with a program you installed them simply move them back and you should be fine.

I used to install many software in my system and then I will uninstall them very soon. But at present, I don't have any additional software in my system than normally I have. If we try to move or delete some files inside the folder, some of the files are getting deleted..But after few seconds, they are back again to their original location. Some of the files inside the folders are not able to be deleted and I am getting the access denied error message.I suspect these are the files or folders responsible for the malfunction of my system nowadays. I am sure, that these folders are available only in the recent days. I scanned with AVG anti virus software and I am not able to find anything as virus or threat..If this is some spyware program, then it should be removed immediately..Thanks for your response to my problem.

It sure seems to be a registry virus. It is better you reformat the PC and install a good anti-virus again. It cannot be deleted.

Yes.. I have tired in many ways..I am not able to delete yet.. I think the final option is to reinstall the operating system itself.Everyday we have to struggle with the virus programs..Each one is of different kind..Torturing me too much..Thanks for your response.

IF it is a system files, then they should be available in the other system also with the similar name?.But the case is not like so..Even this site don't have these folders earlier..There is no any executable files in the folders and I checked them with interest. As like some of the members are saying, they may be some temp files. If so, I will be happy and will not bother about them..As I am the active member of many on line sites, I don't like my account details to be collected bu the spyware programs, if available inside these folders. Thanks for your response.

Do not worry, reboot your computer in safe mode. Then try to delete the folders. If not try to scan the c drive with virus killer for kasbersky, rising, and you can try to run %temp% command from the start menu, then delete all the files in the temp folder.Good luck.

I am not able to run the system in the safe more. If I try to run it in the safe more,is showing some .dll files are missing (about 30-40 fiels) in a list and then after the running of the list, the system is restarting in the normal more instead of starting in the safe mode.I have scanned with the AVG anti virus software and no threat is found. I have also tried with the command prompt and some of the files seems to be hidden some other wrote protected.NOt able to delete them here also..Anyway, I will try to the best of my level. Thanks for your response .

If you delete that somehow, or even mess with them at all you can do serious harm to your pc, if you want to know for sure what it is go have it looked at.
Even if it is a virus you mess with it, and you fry your system that thing will be toast.

Some time,it may be an important file. But with this name, I am not having any folder in my other system. The second system is also having the same type of configuration and applications installed. There these folders are not available. While deleting them, only few files are moving from the folder and within few minutes, the are restoring its position again..I am not able to tolerate the activity of files..Hope I will delete them very soon, if they are threats. Thanks for sharing your view with the members.

strange folder name like that usually contains installer information and/or files leftover from installing a 3rd party software, i use to delete it to save free space.

Installer files means with extension of .exe, is it not? If so, I am not able to find any exe files in that..Most of them are .dll files and some .gpd or .ppd .Only of the .dll files is not able to be deleted form the folder, if we try to delete them one by one. Also we tried to delete them in command prompt also.We are not able to delete them. Some of the files in the folders are getting deleted..But within few seconds, they are rolling back and the folder is filled with all the files again. The Cleaner itself will remove them if they are temporary files or folders..Its also not deleting them and also the AVG anti virus software is not finding any virus in these folders. As these folders are recently formed, I suspect that they are the Internet threats. I am not able to do anything peacefully in my system, as if these are some spyware programs..I have to study well about this. Thanks for your response.

I used to delete the temp files using CCleaner regularly and I will do the cleaning process at least twice in a day without fail as I am active in some traffic exchange sites..Even after such deletion, it is still there. But I am not able to run my system in normal mode also.If I start the system in the normal more, then some list of missing files are running and then the system is restarting itself as normal.I tried to start in the safe more many times..But I was not able to start it even a single time and this happened soon after the installation of OS. My OS might have corrupted already and hence some of the files have not installed properly it seems. I have to reformat the system again..These folders may the source for the prevention of computer in the safe more also..Let me try to delete them again. Thanks for your response.

If these folders are not in the windows directory then they are nothing to do with your windows build and if there are files that are access denied then this usally points to a virus. I had a similar problem a few years ago and I was able to delete the files/folders by downloading a program that would force a delete of a file. If you have installed o downloaded something recently then they are more than likely to be related to this.
