Have you ever stayed with an Ex for financial reasons?

A friend of mine has split up with her partner a few months ago. We all assumed that he had moved out, so I was surprised that he was there when I visited her. She explained that neither of them can afford to keep the house alone. And with house prices being so low in the moment they can't sell as they would make a loss. So they stay living together, as housemates.
That must be quite difficult. Have you ever continued living with a partner because you couldn't afford to move out?

Unfortunately, I have done something similar. But it really depends on how well the ex-couple can get along together. In my circumstances, we were not able to. We were both sharing a one bedroom, quite expensive, apartment. We waited for a few months while we both looked for other places, but it just got continuously worse. We agreed to not start dating other people until we moved out, but that didn't last. We fought every single day, it was terrible.
But, as I said, if they can deal with one another, then it can work out. I've seen tons of couples break up that still act as if they are the best of friends! Let's just hope they are one of those couples!

My friend is still "mates" with her ex. So she copes with it okay. But it still is a hard situation to be in.
Sharing a bedroom must have been double hard though. You must have been relieved when you were able to go separate ways.
