I am under quite a bit of stress and pressure in the moment. So I try to take as much time as I possibly can for myself. In order to relax I take nice hot baths. Lie down in the dark listening to music. Read a good book. What mindless TV.

Ohh, hot chocolate. Absolutely. It has something comforting about it - not sure why.

Hi,
There are a few things that I do, from taking a hot bath and relaxing listening to music, to having a strenuous workout which surprisingly after you've worked out hard and are exhausted, really works to de stress you. Yoga often works, taking a walk outside in nature is great for that. Not only are you with nature breathing in the air, but you're listening to all the birds chirping, etc. I have this one friend that stressed me out so much that I've told her that I've left the country for a few mos so I do know what stress is.

You have a point with the workout. I dance in a group and you are so focused on your steps that you forget your worries. And afterwards you are just tired!

I love to go to my room, where it is quiet and away from everyone, and I will read a book. I like to read a book that is going to really capture my interest and take my mind off of everything so I do frequently re-read great books. And just really calms me down and relaxes me, and sometimes I will read for hours and look at the time and just be amazed at how fast it went by, and how much happier I feel.

That's why I like to read. I get absorbed in the story and forget my own troubles for a bit.

I love to take hot baths also! I sometimes will read in the bath. I also surf the net, play games (mainly Vampire Wars on facebook), float in the pool or just lay on the couch and watch the tube. If I'm stressed and I want a change of scenery, I'll take a drive with no set destination or go for a walk around our scenic neighborhood-they say excercise is the best destresser!

Exercise can be destressing because it occupies your mind. Good point.

I don't have animals, but I can imagine dogs can help to overcome stress. They don't care you are stressed and want your attention. And they are cute!

Good idea! But I usually need to de-stress first before I can fall asleep.

in the past, when i felt stressful,i would go shopping and buy a lot of unnecessary stuffs, and now,i will stay alone, just think and write,to write down the things that trouble me and throw them, and it works.

Writing can relax, absolutely. I never found shopping very relaxing. That's probably a good thing for my purse!

I usually do a few thing to relax. Lie down in the dark is one of these, maybe with a relaxing music in the background. Otherwise, a good hot bath/shower can help too. Even just stay in the bed without doing nothing (still in the dark) is relaxing to me.

Good point. A hot batch can be relaxing. It takes your mind off things, keeps you lovely warm and makes you sleepy.
