My system configuration is as follows:
Intel D945GCNL M/B
Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2GHz Processor
1GB DDR2 RAM 667MHz
160 GB HDD
NVIDIA Geforce 8600GT 512MB GDDR3 Graphics Card
Can I play most of the games released nowadays with the above configuration?
Also I am planning to upgrade my ram to 2GB..

good specs my friend, you have a good build of PC, one thing that i always recommend to my customers and clients is that "the best build of PC is not with the brand it's the compatibility that counts",, if you're planning to upgrade to 2GB of memory, that's good! good day!!

most of the games you can play on your computer just like prince of persia the two trons and tomb rider , need for speed unleashed and many more because you have good configration on your pc and also you have graphics card which is one of most need in games. have a nice day man and happy gaming.

Hi Vishnuparayil.. when you are having 512 MB graphics card.. to utilize it you need to have minimum 2 GB RAM. I mean if you like to play very high graphics games you should upgrade to 3(XP-Vista x32)/4(Vista x64/Windows 7) GB RAM. so that you can play mostly games. I mean you can play with your 2 GB RAM too but when you are having 512 Graphic card it's better to have big memory too.

I have almost the same configuration with 2 gb of ram but not any graphic card.
but i am able to play many games here on my pc.
as i m not a very high end gamer i dont have much experience. but by the time i have played every game which i bring with comfort.
and i think it is good for you to upgrade your RAM.
but i think for high graphics need you need more.

I think you can, I have similar configuration with you except that I have 2GB of system memory and I was able to run most of the released 3D games, the only catch is you will not be able to play most games on a respectable resolution, and I'm afraid you will have to set graphics settings of most of the games at minimum resolution for you to play it properly. Proceed with your plan of upgrading to 2GB, that will surely help in speeding up some games.
