I have an eldest sister and I'm glad for that because she's very responsible and kind. And I was wondering what if it would be my older brother who become our eldest, it could be very hard for us since he's completely opposite to my eldest sister. What do you think, is there a big difference having an eldest brother or sister? Which would you rather choose to have, if given a choice?

I'd choose an older sister, simply because I am a girl and I'd benefit very much from her experience in life that she's having ahead of me.
An older brother is a *guy* therefore he's not going to be much help with emotional stress (:
I have one older sister and one older brother. I love them both, but given only one choice, I'd choose an older sister.

Yeah, me either. I would likely want to have an eldest sister, like what I have right now. She can relate with how I felt and what I'd been going through with my life and with relationship. She's a good listener and I love her.

Well it's nice to hear that lovelyn. Actually it only come into my mind because my mom has huge problem with my older brother. So It come across into my mind, "what if" the situation and position is reverse.
Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Even if the position is reverse, he is the same brother that you have right now... The problem is not that... its the attitude I guess. Have a nice day!

I grew up being the only girl. I have one older brother and one younger one that I grew up with and I would not have had it any other way. Looking at how many sisters fight over boys, clothes and make-up, I feel very fortunate that I did not have to worry about things like that. I am close to my brothers, even now that we are all adults. I am sure that there are good things about having an older sister, but I am perfectly happy having only brothers.

It's nice to know that you enjoy and love being with your older brother. In my case, I'm lucky that my sister is quite generous and kind when it comes to material things. She did even provide and give what I want compare to my mom. Yeah we have pity quarrels way back then, it's part of growing up. But as we get older, we became closer with each other.

i have an older sister, who is completely different from me, i am a metalhead and free spirit, whereas she is the more staid mother figure god person. the funny thing is we get along so great, and she has been so wonderful to me since i arrived here and even though she is paying my way that is never a problem. we are there for each other. i have a younger brother and our dynamic if kinda different too, we get along great, unless i think that he is being lazy or taking advantage of our sister. he is very laid back about life and a good laugh.

Oh, it's great that you have wonderful sister and nice brother. You're indeed very lucky to have them. My eldest sister is like yours, she's always there for me and act as my mom and a best friend. But my older brother is a big disaster, I don't know and understand why he do things on his way that's completely trouble and he don't care the consequences that we suffer. Well I think that's life.

Well, I wouldn't want to be biased because both genders have different traits. It also depends on the genes. So there's generally no difference having an elder brother or an elder sister. If they know how to care, they will. If they know how to love, they will too regardless of gender.

Yeah, it could not be a gender issue, rather on what you need and how you will be treated. We all capable of loving and caring one another.

I have no idea. I think it depends on the person, more than the gender.

I think so, it's definitely depend on the person. On how the parents brought them, how they shape their character and personality and how they become. Because on my part, if it would be my older brother who's the eldest probably he isn't not that spoiled and he could be responsible unlike my eldest sister.

Well, that's hard to say since I only have an elder brother. My brother and I, actually all my siblings and I, are very close to each other. My big brother isn't one of those talkative types and he doesn't act like it but he's very protective of my younger sister and I. I really like the feeling of having a big brother looking out for me. I don't know if I'd feel the same way if I had an older sister instead. Having an older brother is easier to use to intimidate people than the other way around.

Yeah, it could be great having an older brother who is close to you so you have someone who will protect you and makes you feel secure. But if you have an older brother who don't care and always hang around with his friends then it's better to have nothing at all.
Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

As a person with an older sister, I would definately rather have an older brother. I hear from other persons who have older brothers that they do beat them up and perhaps are a little bit meaner to them. Fact of the matter is that the older brothers tend to get into more trouble than older sisters. This means that the moment that you come into play, everything that your older brother has already done seems a lot less intensive when you do them. Also, an older sister can be more kind to you and sensitive to your needs because of their feel for being a mother in the future. An older brother though can definately protect you in all kinds of situations and is someone who you would be able to count on during difficult times (strictly trouble wise with other persons). So there are two sides to the coin, but as a man, I think that I would have prefered to have had an older brother than an older sister as I do now.

I would like to have an elder brother or sister, I don't care if if it was a brother or a sister I just wanted it will be old than me. Because I'm the eldest in our family that's why I want to have any eldest than me. Actually I don't really like being the eldest because you have all the responsibilities in you and all the blame are in you if the family doesn't do well.

hi i really hope i could have a older brother, when i was little, i always asked my mom, why did you give me a young brother, not an older one?hahaha... i was so puzzled, and the movies affected me, i think it is good to have a older brother to take care of me, and always protect me. since i am not a little girl now, i think it is a good to have a young brother.:)

I have an eldest sister just like you careguarden. I am the the second child of four. And i love it the way it is! Next to me is a younger sister followed by younger brother. I'm not that really close with my eldest sister because she is closer with the younger one and shared stories most of the time. She wouldn't really care if i smoke or if i go out with friends at night. We're close with my younger brother. I don't think there are much/big difference with having an eldest brother or sister except that i noticed that my younger brother once said "I wouldn't allow you to smoke if I were the eldest brother"
With that being said by him, I think eldest brother may tend to be authoritative, and most likely, they are the type that would say " Follow what i do, but don't follow what i say" attitude.
