yes core duo is better but when you are using a netbook or a mini laptop, atom is more compatible than core duo. Atom lets you avoid heating your mini and because you are using a mini/netbook, it better if you have atom. Core duo is more compatible with Laptops.

Hi cybercop, between the two, definitely the core2duo is the best, it is miles ahead from intel atom, atom processors are low powered (as low as .65w) single core (except for the atom 330 which is already dual core) processor that consumes less power power compared to core2duo (65watts) . It is primarily used in netbooks and small form factors pc's or nettops. Core2duo processor on the other hand consumes more power since it has two processing cores and will definitely has a better performance than intel atom. The fastest atom available is only 2.0Ghz (Z550) while the core2duo is 3.33Ghz (E8600). Ofcourse between the two, atom is the cheapest.

i think it depends on your purpose, I heard atom was faster for internet use... never tried it though... :D
