Acid test for all "equal rights" arguments.

If the arguments suggests that the government care about specific demographics of anyone, or respect one demographic over another, the argument cannot be consistent with "equal rights".

Much like the contradiction of 'positive discrimination', where a company or orgnaisation actively employ people based on their ethnicity to prove that they have no bias based on ethnicity.
