In my house, while listening to music, my daughter keeps the volume of TV or music system very low so that only she can listen to it. I and my husband do not get satisfaction by such a low volume. We keep moderately high volume. But my son always keeps the volume high and gets scoldings from my husband. What about you? How much volume do you keep in the TV or music system? Very low, low, medium, or high?

During my school days, I was listening to music with high volume. I could enjoy the music only when it was lod enough. My mother was not liking it and I was not listening to her. But now I prefer low volume in music or TV system and most of the times I use head phone while listening to Radio\Music in my mobile. My husband always keeps the volume high and I get irritated with that. History repeats itself.:(

Very true. We must understand others' feelings and inconveniences.

Ha Ha Ha. History is repeating with somebody else, not ourselves. But due to experience, you will understand the liking for loud volume Right?

No. With my experience, I am supporting my mother(not my husband's liking for loud music) and I can understand how irritating it is if somebody is running loud music when we are not interested in listening. It is always good to understand the other person's feeling also rather always giving importance to "what I want".

If I am talking to my sister over phone, my husband keeps the volume loud. Do you think I will keep the receiver down? Never. I will go upstairs and talk in cardless.

He will be watching TV programme. He feels bored if we talk some family politics or about mylot. So he will increase the TV volume. After all for ladies how many topics are there to talk? We have to finish the day's quota is it not?

Now that I'm not in my mom's house, she hated loud music,I listen to music at medium to high volume.Medium is for classical and pop music.High is for rocking out to Metal and Rock.

I know. If you listen to rock and metal music in a low volume, the very life of that music is gone.

I like listening to loud music when I'm walking or exercise, but when I'm working on something else, I keep it low and use it as background noise.

Hi aunty,
In my house i alonw listen to the music i keep the volume very low, But when brother listens to music or watch tv he keeps the volume very high and he also gets scoldings from my parents. We should not keep the volume high as our ears are very sensible and only for certain decibles we can we hear the sound not more than that.

Very true. But some times, like a child, our mind likes to hear a big volume especially a bubbly type song and we also feel like putting few steps like Manmatha raja song in Tamil and AA ante amalapuram in Telugu movies.

When I'm listening to music, I generally keep it so that only I can hear it. If I like the song a lot, I'll turn it up. I do have times where I blare it, but they are few and far between (:
When I'm watching TV, I love turning it up loud!!!

Hi Buchi, my husband’s eldest sister likes turning the volume rather high when listening to radio broadcast news or watching tv movies. She always complains that she couldn’t hear what is broadcasting clearly if the volume is in medium volume She could hear nothing at all if the volume is low. I believe she is rather hard of hearing Luckily that the radio is placed in the kitchen whereas she has her own set of tv in her bedroom as well. Therefore we are not distracted by the loud noise made
When listening to music I like it in low or low medium volume. I feel comfortable and easy with soft and melodious music in desirable volume as background while surfing net or reading or typing mylot posts. I love soft and sentimental music played by violin or erhu. I usually would turn the volume to medium if watching tv series or movies. I don’t want to miss any wonderful or ridiculous conversation in the play
Happy posting!

When we are working in Computer, the music should be low so that no disturbance is made for thought process. While watching movies and TV serials, of course it should be medium so that you will not miss any dialogue. This statement is very true. So we cannot keep the same volume always.

My volume is comfortable....it is not so soft that one has to strain to hear it but it isn't blaring either. I have never been one to blare my music but I do like my music louder than the tv. Still if it is bothering someone else...no problem in turning it down. My daughter is the same. Sometimes her music is louder than others but she is considerate. IT is never annoyingly loud and if I'm trying to listen to my music in another room or the tv is on, she will lower it.

I keep the music or TV volume about medium. Now sometimes if I am listening to a song I really like I may turn the volume up to med high but after the song is done I turn back to medium. The TV volume is also on medium unless someone starts making lots of noise then I will turn TV volume up so I can hear it.

I love music... That is one of the reasons why I had to switch phones because my old phone does not have enough battery life for me to play my songs.
I usually listen to jazz songs if I want to meditate or think... pop music if I want something that can perk me up and love or easy songs when I'm with my husband.
Usually it's just moderate volume because we share the house so we cannot turn it up...
Unfortunately I cannot also play music in the office because we are not allowed to. =(

I keep the volume just enough for me to hear, that would be low to medium. We should also consider if there's somebody sleeping nearby or reading books or if some members of the household are having serious conversations. I mean we should respect our household members. Also high volumes of electronic equipments causes high electricity consumption. So mind your electric bill as well.

Very true, we have to think of others. I did not know high volume causes high power consumption. Thanks for the information.

I adjust the volume on the tv depending on what I am doing or my mood. If I am watching a movie or tv by myself I put it where I can hear it comfortably, but not too loud as to wake anyone. If I am watching tv with other people, I make sure all can hear it. But when it comes to music, I have to have the volume up loud. I am usually cleaning to it, and it helps me move along at a steady pace.

Ok. Different volume for different situations. There is a point in it.

I work at my computer for long hours, and I play soft, gentle piano music or instrumental music, mainly light classicals, as a background while I am working. The volume is very low, because I don't want it distracting me from my work.
When I am long-distance driving on my own, I play vocals in the car at a much louder volume, and I sing along with them.
