Pardon me folks for starting this discussion purely for selfish reasons, but I am feeling down today, and I wanted to hear or read a few light hearted jokes or inspirational messages to lift my spirits. Problems at work and at home are dragging me down. I'm not sure if I should start drinking or banging my head against the wall. But I figure, I should start with mylot and maybe a few of my friends here can give me boost. I would really appreciate it.

i understand what you are feeling. i am feeling sad now and has been like this for many years. i didn't have good life. but now i want to change my thoughts and way i am feeling by listening to uplifting songs. i am listening to songs in youtube like somewhere over the rainbow. ha ha. yeah. but the message is really inspirational. it uplifts my spirit. i actually listen to it every day for few days now while i am online. so basically listening to the same song and keep repeating it always once it ended. i listen to the song by jal joshua. i like the angelic voice of the boy. specially he came from my country and made me proud in his win in Australia got talent though he is filipino.

actually i liked listening to it because of the beautiful rendition of the boy of the song. but after i keep listening to it i get to like it more because of the good message and it feels great listening to the boy's rendition. i have heard other version but this one really touch my heart. so i think that other people too who have listened to his rendition did listen to it more than just a few times because of the impact it has on listeners emotionally.

Funny you should say that about listening to a song over and over again. This morning I stumbled to Annie's 'The sun will come out tomorrow'. It wasn't like all the time, I just listened to it 3 or 4 times, and sort of boosted me up a little bit. Thanks hotsummer.

heya bouncey, maybe a hug would help? well consider yourself hugged. i am sure everyone feels like that sometimes. what you need is some me time. get into your jammies and watch one of your favourite funny movies or have a nice hot bath and add some scented candles or perhaps you can read your favourite book while munching on your favourite snack? hope you have a good time taking care of you!

A hug would be nice. The only problem is, if somebody did know my feelings and hugged me, I might not let go. I do appreciate the little words of encouragement you throw my way. Thanks cher913.

Hi friend, I can understand how you feel, and you are not alone, I can assure you that. In fact you would be amazed at the number of people who go through this situation everyday even yours truely. All I want to say to you is what ever you do, don't hurt yourself. Dont take any action that will be harmful to your health, try to calm down and take steps to deal with your situation. By the time you start thinking of ways to solve your problems, ideas would start coming and you feel better when you start seeing possibilities take heart

Thanks lindiebiz, I appreciate your words. I don't know if what I am feeling is just being magnified by this recession and knowing that winter is coming, but I do know that there are a lot of people going throught the same situation who would probably need more help than me. Still, you taking the time to type in a few words to pick me up is greatly appreciated.

Please open your eyes wide to your surroundings. You may find people that are far more unfortunate than you.Sometimes we got to look to the negative side of life for us to see the bright side of our own life.As what you have stated that caused your blues,I assure you friend, I got here much heavier than yours. But I know God is great. And He is great at all times.

Thanks ally12, that is why I started of my discussion as only for 'selfish reasons'. I know that there are a lot more people who are more unfortunate than me. Or may be suffering even more than me. That is why I was just asking for a few words to lift my spirits up.

I think we're having the same feeling..I even cry with no reason. I want to try something new. But I have turned down soooooo many opportunities, perhaps I don't know where and when to start?I just couldn't understand why? I feel so tired but I just spend most of my time lying on the bed, thinking of so many things. I am losing my weight. I want to talk to my friends but I am afraid I may just bother them. I'll try to understand this one.

Think of a time when you felt really great and try to imagine that feeling then, go for a long walk to look at how beautiful nature is. It is a good thing to be alive and you can see the beauty all around you. Forget home and work and think about you and what would make you happy then make a mental list of them. Think of solutions that would fix your problems and how you can change things. Then, implement these solution one at a time.Sometimes we know what would fix our problem but not how to implement it.

Thanks mizcash. I appreciate what you are saying, about thinking about a time when I felt great. But, I have already been accused of trying too much to live in the past. And my issue is really more of 'what have you done for me lately?'. I try to make a list, but sometimes it just gets me so anxious that it overwhelms me. Sorry for venting on you a little bit.

Everyone always asks for these pick-me-uppers, and I can never think of anything. I guess I'm just not very humorous and entertaining like everyone else here. But I just wanted to let you know that we all have those days, and they usually blow over pretty quickly. My thoughts are with you!

Thanks maezee. It is a wonder sometimes how I could reach out in this big land of ours for help, and find a little boost not close, but a few hundred miles away. I really do hope this blows over.

Be strong and courageous . Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6 I hope you feel better soon. If you just need an ear to vent to, feel free to message me!

Thanks menolly22. Maybe that is just what I need. To vent or to have someone to listen to. I think I keep everything too close inside of me. That's why I was thinking of drinking to loosen me up. I know HE will not forsake me, I just wish he'd come sooner for I am really near the end of my rope.

Sometimes when i am down i would like to do something i have beed dreaming about. For example, i would like to buy something i have long wanted or go for a short trip. And maybe sometimes i will speak to some of my freinds and have a meal together with them. Just try to find a way to let you concentrate on others interesting instead of focusing on yout trouble. I believe just let our trouble out of our mind we will see it in another way and feel not so bad later. Wish you will feel a little better later!

I did this when I was younger. I would buy a shirt, or a new pair of pants, or shoes everytime I was feeling down. More about ME time. For some reason, this does not work now. But I guess you are right that I should concentrate on something else. Something that I like. Maybe that's why I am here in mylot typing away. Thanks andy555.
