Do you consider your pet a friend?

In my country, it's a very rare thing to see how a pet owner loves his pet. Ofcourse, there are many people who keeps different kind of animals as their pets. But I can see that it's different from other countries-especially in America. I have seen in the movies that they actually walk with their pets in the streets and even bring them to some place like malls. I am not sure if I have seen anything like that here. My family owned a cat. We didn't bought it. There's just a cat who suddenly appeared at our house. And made herself feel at home. Then, that cat got pregnant. And delivered four little kittens. After few months, she died. The other two kittens died and one was given to a family friend. There was only one left to us which we've learned to love and adore. We love playing with miming-our cat. And sometimes we even consider him as a part of the family, calling him baby at times. We love him. And I can say that he's a friend. Because even if we don't really understand what he's saying, he knows how to make us happy. I remember one day when we can't find him in our house, our home was like a sad home. We are all silent and we keep on murmuring his name. The next day, he showed up and everyone was happy again.

I treat my pets like members of the family. My husband and I buy them gifts for Christmas and for their Birthdays. Our cats sleep with us every night. I have one cat who will literally lie on my back whenever I am on the computer. Animals know if people love them or not. My cat Smiles loves people. He would be the type who would go up to a burglar and kiss them. He loves everyone. He jumps in your lap and will climb up your leg if you do not pay attention to him. Smiles eats everything in sight. The other night I accidently dropped two peas on the floor and as I went to pick them up to throw away Smiles ate them. I think Smiles is under the impression that he is human instead of a cat.

oh yes... if i have a pet, i will definitely consider it to be my friend... why bother having a pet at the first place if i don't plan to treat and take care of it like a friend??? i might as well don't do that... i don't want to be considered as a cruel and heartless people... take care and have a nice day...

I actually consider my pets to be my children! I have 2 small dogs and a cat, and they all sleep in bed with us. I never go to the store without picking something up for them. We take them for walks, to the park, to the lake to swim, etc. They have Christmas stockings and birthday presents! Call me crazy, but we aren't able to conceive children of our own, so we love these guys like they are our own. The best part is, they love us unconditionally, they don't talk back, and we don't need a babysitter!

Hello. I have a cat. Very nice looking and very friendly. If I tell her to come , she would come running. If I tell her to stay away, she would just jump out and disappear. Ha ha ! A very understanding and intelligent pat. Yes, she is a very good friend, understanding and faithful. She is also very friendly with the guests visiting our house.

hi invisiblelady yes we here in the US do love our pets, and some do walk their dogs, well dogs have to go pee and that is why they walk them. any way our dogs and cats do become part of our family and we do care for them. I dont think here we allow pets in our malls, I have never seen that done. also do not believe all the crap you see in movies about the US either, a lot of that is just hollywood nonsense.

I think it's a beautiful thing you and your family are doing for your little cat. I strongly believe that pets are friends. When I was growing up, my family pet cat was usually the best form of comfort for me when I was feeling down, especially when she would rub her head against my leg, and I'd pick her up and cradle her at night until she fell nicely to sleep. Then I'd put her outside in her little house my dad made for her. She was so very loving and affectionate.

My pets are part of the family. They're not just "Pets". The decisions we make also involve them because we care about them and love them very much. I have both cats and dogs, all of which have been adopted. My family and I share the same love for animals. We also have some pretty sad stories to share like yours but well, back to your question, my answer would be...my pets are more than just friends. They are family.

Absolutely. My cat is a very good friend. When I am sick she always comes and just sits with me. She is excellent company when I am home alone. She "talks" to me. She is a great kitty. I would miss her very much if she were gone. The whole family feels this way about her. We have had her for 11 years. She is part of our family. She has been a confidant to the kids through the years. I think that if you can't accept a pet as a family member that you shouldn't even have one. But that's our household I am sure many others are different.

Of course. If you are alone, but you have a pet, they make you feel obviously that you are not alone. You play with them, cuddle with them, go for walks. Just like a friend, just more fuzzy, and loveable...

Yeah I consider my pets friends because they are really good companions and they like to hang out with me all day. That's basically what my normal human friends are like so I treat my pets like my friends because I love them both.

My dogs sleep in the bed with us. If we have to go buy dog food, they jump in the car and go with us. If we go to the park, or some other outdoor activity, they jump in the car and go there also. I take them almost everywhere I go, but not if they will be sitting in the car for a long time. I don't want them to get too hot during the summer or too cold during the winter. At Christmas, they each get a stocking filled with treats and toys that they get to "open". They are a big part of our family.
