Well I have always known that many newspaper go for the sensational stories rather than check a story thorougly I have known of personal situations where the stories they printed where a far cry from the truth .In all fairness to some of the newspapers it their sources that gave them wrong information and as a result they can only print what they get ,so sometimes it is their sources that needs to be blamed.

NO, those person who are reading the paper must not believe everything that had said on the paper, some of it is not true. Some of the information there is not with accuracy, sometimes it is with opinion of the writer. Like what is written on Entertainment magazine or entertainment section of newspaper, I guess some or all of it are publicity stunt, just to bring up the name of that celebrity. I guess it is on the person if they decided to believe on it, but me I don't believe everything that is said on the paper.

I don't trust anything in the newspapers. I have seen real life situations reported wrongly in newspapers so many times that I no longer subscribe or pick up a newspaper. If I do, it is only to read the obituaries..lol. Unfortunately, most people think they are reading the truth, and continue to feed into this media business, allowing them to continue to exist. In my town, we do have one newspaper called the Champion, and it's a wonderful newspaper, as it only reports on the good things going on in our town. And it's actually free. That says alot about a newspaper business.

I can't believe all what I read but I do believe some articles specially if facts are available. one thing I know is most of the time if there is smoke than than there will be fire. So after reading any international article I check the net for any references or links. For Local its hard to believe most of the stuff as rarely I can get any proof specially if its about politics. Than again we do have to depend on news papers for news updates, all one can do is try find some facts...

Well, for me, it depends on where it is actually printed, and how it is printed that seems to matter the most. Even with things on the internet how can you really know they are 100% true as well. But I would say if it is your local paper chances are they are usually close to as accurate as the facts are at that time, but if in magazines, etc. a lot of it could be stuff just enough on the edge of truth to make us believe it, but yet leaving a lot of empty spots there as well.

I seldom read a newspaper except for local news anymore. I tend to believe more of what I read online, but if I do not believe it, I can at least research it right there.

not at all, I always research since I am a researcher to see if something is true if it is something I am interested in, otherwise I read it but say yeah okay, lol, not really caring one way or the other.

It depends on the newspaper. The reputable ones try to get the story right the first time but if they don't they will edit or reprint a corrected one. I can not say the same thing for what you frequently see as "news" on the internet.

I would have to ask which newspapers you are talking about. And the next item I would bring up is the weirdness of the world at this time and the newspaper may be covering a strange story. But, then there are newspapers I wouldn't even call 'news' papers. Some are more like the Star Magazine sort of thing. So you really need to figure your source like the old saying: consider the source. Is it a reputible news relayer or a scandle sheet. And remember, today the bizarre is more norm than it used to be.

No, I do not believe everything I read in the newspaper. Sometimes when they try to be the first one on a story they do not get all the fact before they print the story.

Hi JJ, No i don't. I read to be informed and undated but not to be convinced and accept all the things written in there. Sometimes i hate reading the newspaper write ups and news are frustrating. What i enjoy best is my husband's column with Manila Bulletin-- Wathing IT--Technews.

Of course not! Every newspaper express the views of certain classes or groups. Everybody in the society belong to a certain group, when he or she reads a newspaper which reflects the views of his or her group, he or she would consider that its contents are correct. It's quite difficult for a person to observe news in a just position. If you want to approach the fact of news, you'd better read newspapers which belong to different groups.

most of the papers here in the states are run by liberals that think they should be affecting the news instead of reporting it

hi jugsjugs well newspaper reporters are humans just likethe rest of us and sometimes they do make mistakes too, just like me or you. I do know that the editors do try to proof everything for the truth but like all other people they can goof up too occasionally. so I read things with a grain of salt, and checkthe veracity with other resources if it is something I am really concerned about.

There was a news broadcast my husband and I watched because our friend wanted to know I believe. Well we watched it and later I looked up the article and there was something omitted in the article that the racer had said on film. I even started a discussion about it. I think that it is sad when people are made to look like liars because of the media's editing either a tape or news article... Doctoring it I guess really. I think there's a lot of things out there that are cause of wondering if it's true or false.

Nope, I only read the newspaper or watch news on TV to keep me informed on the current events and whats happening in my environment. It doesn't have to be always 100% true, but at least I can relay to any conversation I will take part when it comes to news. Most important is that I do have some opinion about it.
