Pet Insurance?

Do you have it? Is it worth the cost?
I'm thinking for the $12 each animal (I have 4) I'd perhaps be better off just setting that $ aside than paying insurance premiums. Though it would come in handy for problems like our recent visit today.
What are your experiences? Any recommendations on one that you like?

i don't have it presently, but it is more than worth it for catastrophic illness.
there's a company off the petco mainsite that is a good deal.
some companies do have age/pre-existing condition limits tho..for a cat older than 6 you may wish to set it aside instead if it has a pre-existing.

Be sure to read everything if you are looking at a policy. I was talking to my friend the other day and they had insurance on their new puppy. When they took him to the vet and then made a claim, they were told that the $20 a year policy only covered him if he was lost, injured and then found and taken to the vet! That was a cheap lesson for them.

Hmmm...I can't really say but the $12 per animal doesn't sound too bad. It would come in handy because going to the vet can be a bit expensive. I took my chihuahua in the other day for a sprained foot and it cost me almost $300. I'm actually thinking about getting them (I have two dogs) some form of insurance since one of them seems to be so injury prone. I'll have to look and ask around first though. I don't want to just jump at the first one I see.

For a long time I was against pet insurance, and made fun of my mother-in-law for getting it. But now we have it for both our dogs. My older dog had about 2 months where she had all kinds of problems and had to go to the vet ER and regular vet quite a few times. I looked up insurance and saw it would reimburse for several things she would need done in the future, so we got it. Then when we adopted our second dog, we already knew she had problems from fostering, and signed up right away. Haven't done the math to see if it balances, but it's nice to be reimbursed for frontline and stuff like that. Try VPI, they are really good.

I don't have a pet myself but my daughter has a boxer. These dogs are prone to heart disease and cancer. She purchased pet insurance and it has worked out very well for her. The dog requires two pills every day for heart problems and without the insurance I doubt if they could have afforded them. Difficult decision for most people.

We donĀ“t have that in my country but if we did, maybe it would be worth it. The vet is as expensive as a doctor, or more. And it is the vet, the vaccines, an occational surgery (my Misty had several surgeries in the 16 years she lived).
It would depent, of course, on what the insurance covered.

I don't have pet insurance but my friend does for her three dogs. For her, it was beneficial as one of her dogs was a puppy mill rescue who ended up with many health issues. It saved a lot of money on her vet bills - and you know how much they can cost! I say if you think that it would come in handy - trust your gut instinct and get it. Better be safe than sorry.
I don't know the name of her pet insurance but I can find out for you, if you wish.
